Really? I was an All-American. I wrestled Lewis. In an 11 year career, over 400 matches, 9 national tournaments, Lewis was the best guy I ever touched. Lewis sucks? That is a Division 1 champ he is horsing there. He may have been 6th or 7th in 1984, But he would have beaten the world in 1980 when we boycotted. Lewis sucks? Shouldn't you be watching soccer or something else you understand? That guy was unbelievably strong, and a deadly counter wrestler. Why could he wait for Jordan to come after him? He scored first, that's why. That was the plan, score, make him come to you, counter and score again. I used that strategy myself. He was just more deadly at it. And um, yeah, I. The finals of this tournament, with his knee screwed, he beat John Smith 1 out of 3 matches. Sucks? Dude, that was an ignorant troll statement.

Lewis and Smith had some epic battles. I think Lewis is tough as nails.

Yeah, I don't get the hate for either of these guys. Guess politics has something to do with it. Randy Lewis was a guy who could beat anybody in the world on any given day when he was close to 100%. Jordan was a 2x NCAA champ who beat John Smith for the 2nd title. They were both awesome. And no disrespect for Jordan, but I'm taking Lewis 9 times out of 10 head to head. It's not that Jordan wasn't awesome. Lewis was just an absolute beast. I still don't understand why he didn't do more on the international circuit. His prime was just before my time of participating and following the sport.

I had the pleasure of meeting Randy Lewis in the early 1980s when he was a clinician at a wrestling camp that I attended with my team. He pinned some outstanding Soviet wrestlers back in the day, and ranks as my favorite US wrestler of all time. And I’m a Penn State fan, but Randy was the best.

One was an Olympic gold medalist the other, not so much. Jordan couldn’t win at an international level. His folkstyle was good(Americans made this style up) but his international(freestyle) was horrible.

Not exactly a fish. He did rack up an impressive OHSAA and NCAA victory total. But he was an ugly ass primitive style wrestler, and not really enough of a stud to bully guys who were just better than he was.
