My brother drove for 35yrs. He saw a young trucker RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM, Slam on his breaks with a full load of iron beams on his trailer. The load shifted and one of the I beams went through the back window and pushed the boy out the front. He immediately went around the young boys truck and blocked the other two lanes of traffic. He couldn't help the driver, He secured the truck, stayed with the driver, and kept the road closed for the Police but this song reminded him of that young man. Life's unpredictable, but there are lessons to be learned from everything that happens, and it happens for a reason..

I am nobody but let me tell you a brief story. It was the summer of 1986. I was working security at Hershey Lake Compounce in Bristol Ct. Randy Travis played that summer and I was posted back at the rear entrance to the stage. I was able to get his Autograph, [unsolicIted] for just doing a good job. My boss took it and said i was using my job for getting such things. Randy's band Manager saw what happened and approached me and asked when I was off the clock. I said in 5 minutes. He said they were going back to the Hotel and if i would come over he would re introduce me to Randy and get me another Autograph. I drove home as fast as I could changed and grabbed my guitar hoping he'd Autograph it for me. I got more then that, I spent about 2 to 3 hours in his room Jamming with Randy plus a photo of him and me, and an Autographed guitar. though the items i treasured and lost do to theft, I still have and never will lose the fond memories.. I WAS INDEED VERY HONORED.

@@rickyhammond3437 Treasured memories. I got to meet Randy once, briefly. It was at a Books a Million in Florida, he came over with over 200 signed books. Yes, no two signatures were the same, me and my dad checked with ours. Well, me and my dad got to sit with Randy, and I even got to shake Randy's hand. I even got to talk to his wife (also brief). I had no idea I would do that, but it was a pleasant surprise to say the least. It's the wallpaper to my phone right now. God bless.

So a farmer, preacher, hooker and teacher go to Mexico for various reasons. They get in a wreck, and three people die (The three crosses). The preacher gives his Bible to the hooker, and she eventually gets saved, and leads her son to Christ. Her son becomes the pastor of a church. Why didn't everyone die? or why are there only 3 crosses? Because God had a job for the hooker, and she just didn't know it yet. If the preacher didn't die, the hooker never would have gotten the Bible, and her son would never become a pastor. God's got a plan for you And for those who are asking "what happened to the driver.... It's mathematically off", nobody knows. All we have is interpretation for ourselves. I think he lived. Just because he was a driver doesn't mean he died. It's possible, and it's happened where the driver in a wreck made it out alive. And plus, there are only three crosses anyway.

A farmer and a teacher, a hooker and a preacher, Ridin' on a midnight bus bound for Mexico. One's headed for vacation, one for higher education, An' two of them were searchin' for lost souls. That driver never ever saw the stop sign. An' eighteen wheelers can't stop on a dime. There are three wooden crosses on the right side of the highway, Why there's not four of them, Heaven only knows. I guess it's not what you take when you leave this world behind you, It's what you leave behind you when you go. That farmer left a harvest, a home and eighty acres, The faith an' love for growin' things in his young son's heart. An' that teacher left her wisdom in the minds of lots of children: Did her best to give 'em all a better start. An' that preacher whispered: "Can't you see the Promised Land?" As he laid his blood-stained bible in that hooker's hand. There are three wooden crosses on the right side of the highway, Why there's not four of them, Heaven only knows. I guess it's not what you take when you leave this world behind you, It's what you leave behind you when you go. That's the story that our preacher told last Sunday. As he held that blood-stained bible up, For all of us to see. He said: "Bless the farmer, and the teacher, an' the preacher; "Who gave this Bible to my mamma, "Who read it to me." There are three wooden crosses on the right side of the highway, Why there's not four of them, now I guess we know. It's not what you take when you leave this world behind you, It's what you leave behind you when you go. There are three wooden crosses on the right side of the highway.

Who's to say amazed66? Yeah, your question seems logical to me even now. Yet I look at my life and all of the struggles I've been through and get to wondering if I'd be better or worse without those struggles. At the time I was going through them I would have told you, 'Hell yes! I'd be better off without all of this crap!". But here I am and older too. Looking back as Tony wrote in his great song, 'The Dance' I tend to agree with one line in particular which states, "I could have missed the pain but I'd have had to miss the dance". Of course I'm glad I didn't know what would lead to what when I made mistakes yet ultimately that was what was needed to set me right. God knew that. Suffering sucks when you are going through it however if you endure you come out even better for it. Besides, I'm not sure God wished the stroke on him. Let us not forget that there is another entity running around with a long black train as Josh sang about. But when that entity manages to wreak havoc God has an amazing way of turning adversity around. Look at Job for example. You know, you asked the most pertinent questions of all without commentary. Apparently my response will be the first. Thanks for the awesome question and take care, Rolland B. Heiss
