Great song that's very thought provoking, with a positive message, and hopefully a positive influence. I don't listen to it much anymore, because I've heard it played on the radio so much, and it's the primary Randy Travis song that I see get reacted to. So I've been over exposed to it. He has a bunch of other good songs that I listen to. Such as "He Walked On Water," "I Told You So," "Promises," and others.

The song is also a good message about being a good person, and leaving your skills for the next person to take over. Randy Travis has an amazing voice. I think his most popular song is "Forever and Ever Amen" but its pretty close to "Three Wooden Crosses" as popularity goes. Try that song, it's a little more happy and more of a love song.

The song mentions that the farmer and teacher were killed in the wreck, with the farmer leaving a harvest and a son who would follow in his footsteps, and the teacher leaving knowledge in the children she taught. It also mentions that the preacher lays his bloodstained Bible in the hands of the hooker, asking her if she could "see the Promised Land." The end of the song reveals that the story was being told by a preacher during Sunday church services. In a twist, however, it reveals that the hooker survived and had a son. The preacher telling the story is in fact the son of the hooker (holding up the bloodstained Bible as proof), who read the Bible that had been given to her by the dying preacher; in turn, her son eventually became a preacher himself. Peace out.

The former left the seed in his son's heart to want to be a farmer. The teacher left her students with a piece of her and their hearts. The preacher left the Bible to the hooker and she started reading the Bible to her son, which in turn she was saved and her son became a preacher! So they all left the world leaving something good behind!

This song is an amazing story. For me, the message is God is relentless in His desire to reach ALL OF US, and how none of us have the right to judge--there's only one judge, and He's merciful. God is so much smarter and merciful than we can comprehend. If we'd just give in, and rest in His mercy (not getting what we do deserve--damnation), grace (getting what we don't deserve--forgiveness and salvation), and love--complete acceptance.

7:46 Yeah, I think most people would go into the song expecting the hook to not make it. Maybe even expecting the preacher to live, thinking that God's grace would have saved his earthly life in that situation. I think that's partially why it was written to where you're questioning if it was the preacher or the hook, up until the final verse.

This is a song that tells us that no one is beyond the reach of God. As Christians we spread the Word of God not knowing how it may impact somebody’s life for Him. This simple gesture of handing a woman of ill repute a Bible led her to raising a son who would go on to leading others to Christ.

The teacher left behind her wisdom to her students. But it's so beautiful that In his dying moment he gave the Hooker something that saved her soul and in turn she read The Bible to her son and he became a preacher. So God used that preacher to save her.

There is not a music video, but Randy Travis is just a sweetheart of the country music scene. Unfortunately, a few years ago, he did suffer a stroke that has impeded him being able to sing or talk a lot without effort. He still can, but it has slowed him down a bit. His Tiktok channel of him reacting to people singing his songs or dancing to them is precious. If you want more recommendations of his, I suggest 'Forever and Ever, Amen' and 'I Told You So'. Both of which have music videos. I'd also recommend Carrie Underwood's version of "I Told You So", it is probably my favorite cover and Randy Travis really loves it too.

The preacher gave the bible to the hooker before he died that is what he left behind, hooker survives, it wasn't he time to go, It had such an impact on her that she got her life . At the end the preacher(not the same one)is telling the story about the three wooden crosses, holds up the blood stained bible for all of them to see and said bless the Farmer, the teacher and the preacher who gave this bible to my Mama (the Hooker) who read it to me read to me. Not sure if the mother/Hooker is dead now(many years later) but she left the blood stained bible to her so(the preacher telling the story, not the one that died on the bus)

@@brianoliver4334 Exactly. You have to read it into the song, because the song doesn't explicitly tell us that she turned her life around. It just simply states that she read it to her son. It's ironic because you're not supposed to read things into the Bible either. Not everyone who reads from the Bible, even reading it to someone else, hands their life over to God or changes their life completely.

The other 3 were likely going to Heaven, while the hooker wasn't on that path. By their deaths, she transformed her life and read that Bible to her son, religiously. Thus, creating a son who would preach the gospel to anyone who would listen, but also, very likely, giving salvation to the hooker.
