Great vid, a real life account from an owner driver’s experience. I drive the 3.0 TD6 and it’s a great engine. I’ve heard that the ZF gearbox can have issues ( mine was replaced with a rebuilt unit around 40k ago) but not if periodically flushed and oil changed. Running costs.. it’s worth remembering that a large part of that £500 a month is money you’d have spent on motoring anyway, regardless of what you were driving. If you drove something that averaged 40-50 mpg you’d probably still be spending at least half of that, so the extra premium for driving a Range Rover is actually around £200-£250 which is not bad value if you love these vehicles like I do. If you have no choice than to spend a couple of hours a day behind the wheel, why not enhance your life by making it an enjoyable experience.

Hi good balanced review i have a 03 4.4 v8 given the cost of fuel petrol being 20p per ltr cheaper than diesel it costs about the same as my mates diesel range rover the same age. You are spot on with the fact that nothing gives you the ride and driving quality as the range rover.

Td6 is the one I'd buy. It's e39 underneath aside te 4x4 stuff and m57 engines are cheap and plenty of them on scrapyards.

I wish I could find an L322 for cheap in the US. Prices are still too high and one’s going through auction have issues. Great videos.

Perhaps a BMW manual gearbox could be fitted out of a 5-series or X3/X5..? Probably going to be fidgety with the 4WD though.. Cool video! Thanks for sharing. =)

How on earth did you spend 4000 quid on fuel doing 7000-8000 miles. It doesnt add up. £ 4000 / £ 1.80 per litre = 2,222 litres.
