If you’re planning going back to Italy soon (winter) I would consider Milan, Bologna, Venice and then a mountainside village in South Tyrol (you would experience a totally different culture and the dolomites) If you’re planning goung back to Italy later (summer) I would really recommend Naples, Palermo, and then Sardinia and Cagliari. Meaning that your hotel’s in Cagliari, the capital, while during the day you visit the beaches (which are just a few hours away).

2 suggestions for Italy: Toscana: you can stay in a hotel in a rural area and each day go to a different city: Florence, Arezzo, Lucca, Pisa, etc. Each city is beautiful and has unique history. Liguria: you can do the riviera ligure and travel across the coast, staying a bit in each town: La Spezia, Genova, Savona, Albenga, Imperia, Sanremo, Bordighera (the most beautiful city) and make it to Nice eventually, where you can take a train/plane and go to somewhere else. Edit: for both these trips I recommend renting a car, thought you can use public transport, but it gives you less freedom to go to small cities

A recommendation for a trip that could be part of your future european visit: Munich-Vienna-Venice-Milan are really close to each other, with easy and frequent train connections - that would cover your interests of revisiting Germany (Bavaria), Vienna (could do some days to Budapest or Prague in between, easily reachable from vienna in a few hours) and then into the north Italian region! Venice, Florence, Milan, Genoa are all cities that you have to visit with your history-background!

Places in Sweden that are better than Stockholm: Summer - Järvsö (has animal park that shows off the animals native to Sweden) - Literally anywhere in the north (you can hike in the forest, swim in the ocean which actually isn't very salty, and fish in the lakes) - Leksand (leksand sommarland is a very nice place to visit in the summer, I really like their wipeout course) - Vadstena (very pretty and it has cool history as well, Omberg is also very pretty in the summer, pretty close to kolmården too) - Furuvik (Furuviksparken is just a vibe) Winter - Kiruna (I haven't been there myself but the Ice Hotel seems really cool) - Up north again (see aurora borealis, go skiing, go ice skating, embrace the cold, also you may see some reindeer) I don't know many good places in the south since I'm from the north but I don't think there's anything that matches the northern landscapes in either winter or summer, especially if you stay by the coast! :D

@@Joseph-qd9ew I wouldn't say there are cities that are far better in regards of history compared to Paris, but there are at least a few that would match; Rome, for example. Which (at least in my opinion) has a little edge in terms of history. Constantinople/Byzantium/Istanbul is up there, London shouldn't be forgotten here. And, dare I say it, Vienna, Prague and Venice should also at least be considered to be in the same league. Also, these are only the european options I could think of on top of my head, I'm sure there are more that fit the criteria worldwide. Don't get me wrong, Paris is wonderful and by no means I'd want to defer from being proud of it, but with the category 'history' alone, there are equals that exist.

Been Egypt a couple of times and going again this winter, would definitely recommend it although can get super hot in summer for a Brit. Cairo doesn’t do enough to represent the country alone I’d definitely suggest spending some time at the Red Sea and Luxor if you can. People there are super friendly and the history is incredible to see- the photos don’t do it justice.

As an Italian I really reccomend you to visit the rest of the peninsula, it's definetly worth it. There are a lot of great cities like Milan, Florence, Turin, Naples, Palermo, Bologna, Venice (just to name the most famous ones), all really different from the others and with lots of things to visit: museums, cathedrals, squares, reamains of Roman buildings and reinassance palaces, and plenty of restaurants of course. A great thing about Italian cousine is its variety from city to city, each with its own culinary tradition, so traveling in varius places won't feel repetitive both for the look and for the food. I would also reccomend returning to Rome because that city has so much to offer that I visited it plenty of times but there are still places I haven't seen

I wrote this list for my family back home in the states to help plan their visit, so you may find it useful. Spain is one of the best countries to visit, not only because of the capitals or big cities, but the variety on a "small" country, with 5 tipes of climate: Mediterranian, Oceanic, Continental, Mountains and subtropical/volcanic. Also diferent types of food depending on the region (paella is valencian, not spanish), cheap compared to northen europe or the usa, monuments of diferent religions ("la Alhambra" in granada or the real holy grail in Valencia), the parties are one of the longest probably in all of the world (not just big parties, even those from small town with molsty teenagers can go up to 6 a.m. or even to the rise of the sun and breakfast without sleep (personal experience)), very prepared and focused on tourists, and so on...
