It seems like YG's trainers prefer styling over technique. It's not always a bad thing especially for a performer but when you start learning dance (like Jisoo) with style, you have to compromise in technique. Just like their singing and rapping, YG members rather than focus on a balanced technique tend to focus more on cutting angles, somewhat out of rhythm power control to look "edgy". While it may look cool on a camera during a perfomance, it gives it all away during a technical evaluation such as this. When it comes to Lisa, Minzy and other such natural dancers who came to YG with basics already done, you can visibly see a difference in balance of technique much more than other groups. While Lisa is definitely a really good main dancer in my opinion, I would give her 9.5-9.6 because she has amazing technique, it still tends to come apart sometimes especially when she is dancing blackpink choreos with the other members

One thing i’ve noticed about Rosé’s dancing is that the more they perform a song, the less she focuses on details and does moves sloppily. Even though its not too obvious and she still gives 110% each performance it leads to her being very inconsistent. She’s really good and i wish YG trained her more after debut to solidify her her skills more and not rely so much on natural talent Edit: guys this is NOT hate at all and she is still an incredible dancer and dances and performs super well i’m not downplaying her talents or anything it was just an observation jeez. And i know that a lot of other groups do it as well i never said Rosé is the only idol that does this or that she works any less hard than other idols in the industry

I think Rose has the most unique dance style in blackpink. She’s SO smooth. But there’s something that always bothered me about her. She seems to have some kind of tension in her shoulders and elbows. I can’t explain. It seems like she doesn’t have much control of them and it makes her arm movements...small I would say. A little awkward. Another thing is that she keeps touching her hair during the dance. I know it’s her thing, but it bothers me a little bit, because sometimes breaks the group synchronization and her dynamics. But she still a good dancer and deserve the position of lead dancer in blackpink.

Just my two cents here on Rosé’s dancing... Your analysis on her technique finally made sense to why I thought her dance was slightly lacking. She is good with fluid movements but isn’t good with isolations. If you ignore her whole body and just focus on her feet, her footing isn’t stable and tends to overstep a lot. You can see a lot of this in KLT solo. Warning: Short essay incoming... I hope no one is going to come for neck but this is a genuine concern I have for her due to what my uncle (who is chiropractor) said. I, myself, have an asymmetrical body and didn’t realize it until I noticed some slightly off face and body proportions. My left eyebrow is higher, my left leg is slightly longer, and my spine isn’t completely straight. This affects the way I walk, stand, sit, and sleep without realizing it. I could stand straight but I’d slightly be leaning to the right because of my higher left leg. Because of my not-very-straight spine structure I don’t sit perfectly straight either. I suspect Rose might have the same problem. If you don’t believe me, go and watch any of Rosé’s solos and just focus on her legs/feet. Also watch BLACKPINK - 2019 world tour with kia x stinger and focus on her legs. The bone structure in her legs are not straight and this has nothing to do with her being skinny (which I know is her natural body type). Notice her in interviews or when she does photo shoots. She tends to lean her body to the side a lot. Also notice their recent Twitter Blueroom Q&A. She tends to fidget, move around her seat a lot, and it’s because she has a hard time getting comfortable. I think this is why it affects her dancing and why fluid movements are easier for her than say hip hop movements. Idk what others might say but I’ve had this concern for her years already. My uncle has the same suspicions about her asymmetrical legs and possible irregular spine. It’s a good thing she does Pilates... she needs to do a lot of strength exercises so she can rely on her muscles more. I hope she can find a good chiropractor to help her balance her body and improve her back and core strength.

just a little thought: lisa's rating was 9.8 while chaeyeon's was 9.7 it's not that i'm being biased but i just disagree with this. as you said, one of the flaws when it comes to chaeyeon's dancing is her body control, which can be fixed properly with practice. but with this video, you said that lisa's problem was her freestyle. for me, chaeyeon should be rated equal or even higher than lisa since her flaw can be fixed while lisa's problem just comes with pure talent. we can all see how good chaeyeon is with her freestyle dancing and even if y'all don't want to admit it, it really is pure talent. but as you said in this video, lisa's freestyle dancing should improve, which means she wasn't really good in it in the first place, but with chaeyeon, it's just really different. not to mention that chaeyeon's just a rookie. in conclusion, i PERSONALLY think chaeyeon should be rated equal or even higher than lisa. just my opinion. but still, they're both AMAZING dancers and i love them both so much. i really believe that both of them were born to dance. nice video btw

*IMO* Jennie should be placed a bit higher, at least in the good tier. She is frustratingly inconsistent but when she gives it her all, she could be easily passed off as a lead dancer. I also think Chaeyeon is a *bit* better than Lisa *from what I've seen* of both of them but I could easily be proven wrong if YG just gave Lisa more opportunities to show what she's got.

lisa’s pretty good at freestyling from what i’ve seen before. she was already originally a dancer before becoming a trainee so it’s pretty safe to say she has tons of experience and can perfect moves quickly. she also picks up choreo fast too which is like 😍 ughh she’s the perfect dancer

Quite honestly I don't see Rose being the main dancer in any other group (especially 4th gen. they're all such hardcore dancers) Rose doesn't really have that much control over her body movements. She is way TOO fluid. There has to be a balance. She doesn't follow the precise technique in black pinks dances and Lisa manages to do both.

I agree with all the rankings. I prefer Jennie's dancing to Rosie's because Jennie has AMAZING stage presence and aura which is why her solo stages were so successful. Ik Rosie has much better technique and body control but she tends to overdance. You can see this especially in the Forever Young dance break and that hip move they do in the opening of D4. Jennie, on the other hand, gets tired easily and her energy is inconsistent which leads to poor technique sometimes. I love them all though. Jisoo is just stiff bcos she's not a dancer, her skills are built from scratch but she's so good in HYLT!!!

For rosé she did cheerleading back then and I can see why she really is good at dancing.. it think she is the most flexible in the group, how her body moves you can see how flexible she is and I really love it.. For jennie I think of her as 3rd place but Sometimes I see her as 2nd.. she does most her dances perfectly too and sometimes I think she dances like Lisa.. Firstly, I'm hoping for a Dreamcatcher and Oh My Girl ranking! I agree that Lisa isn't as overrated as people make her seem. Sure, she has privilege because she's in Blackpink/YG, but just because she's in the big 3, that was never what made her a good dancer. I'm a dancer. The types of dance I do is ballet, contemporary, lyrical, hip-pop and tap. And I find that Lisa can tend to over dance a lot it when she is doing movements and can be little messy when doing fast movement Dances. So considering technique, fluidity, body control etc. I'd rank blackpink Jisoo: 4.5 she lacks a lit of important skills but has great improvement over the years. Jennie: 6.9 She is really good but tends to underdance sometimes and lacks of energy when it's not her part. ( I'm not referring to the " lazy" scandal btw) Rosè 8.5 I don't think I have to explain this Lisa: 9 No hate or bias intended

In my opinion 1. Lisa. I dont need to explain this, she is the MAIN dancer for a reason. 2. Jennie. I have seen how ppl saying that she can get better somedays and somedays she sucks, Jennie even her said says she has a low stamina and she cant jump as muchwhich is natrual thing, which actually makes her an above average dancer if you take her health conditions in account. Plus she tought Rosé our lead dancer how to dance. 3. Rosé is an above average dancer. Her dance moves are very detailed. 4. Jisoo. Jisoo is an average dancer but she gets very stiff usally and her moves arent clear but her smile makes her dance expensive cause she enjoys it

But I think the reason why some people may say her dancing is average is because BLACKPINK choreography doesn’t show Lisa’s potential. Something very good about Jisoo is her stamina. If you compare the beginning of their concerts with the ending, all the other girls have somewhat lost a bit of their energy, but Jisoo is still giving the same amount of power.
