Hinata should be a 10 on uniqueness. This is what Wizards should be doing - this card creates decks that are unheard of and totally different than any other deck using a good number of cards never seen anywhere else in EDH. Fun obviously takes a hit due to the tax ability. Power, is very high, but not so high as you'd think, because the deck is completely dependent on Hinata being on the board (idk if you consider that for this)... Taking out Hinata turns off everything, and there are fewer cards with insane results than you would imagine. For me, coolness is through the roof - but obviously that is individual.

And I agree with you, the artwork for Greasefang is very visually reminiscent of her character. I saw a commander game won once with a Vorel of the Hull Clade deck that got 4 counters on the old blue Myojin and drew their deck. so sweet!

The Reality Chip is way higher than a 3 in power since anyone building the deck is more likely trying to combo with it rather than just trying to make a Future Sight value engine. The same goes for Myojin of Cryptic Dreams since you can cast clones from your hand which will gain the indestructible counter, and you can also run both Sakashimas, artifact support for Mirror Box, and proliferate effects. Chip is or is close to being cedh playable, cryptic dreams isn't near that but you can make a fun battle cruiser deck wo jumping through a bunch of hoops

I really REALLY appreciate the lore discussions. I just opened some packs today and my favorite card is Plains 294, the castle town looking one, so detailed.

I would just like to say that I love that you include the lore and alternate art for each of the commanders. It makes your video a one-stop shop for learning about the new set. I love the ranking system too; fun, art, coolness, and uniqueness should always be (at least) an equal factor to power. Goro-Goro's artwork (in both forms) is a trope of the super fast iai-slash, see: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hMWAd815q8XOh6M.html In his normal artwork finishing the slash seemingly creates the spirit dragon, whereas in the samurai showcase artwork just the initial "click" of drawing the katana from its sheathe unleashes the spirit dragon.

Light-Paws is really linear and same-y, but I'm always happy to see a strong mono white commander. She's also cheap to build. I mean, yeah, Serra's Sanctum makes the deck better, but you can make her strong for cheap. Well done, WoTC.

Everybody wrote off Nashi because it didn’t have commander ninjitsu, and I’m very glad y’all gave him his due. Not overly broken, but still easy enough to proc and super fun! The ninjitsu ability is basically flavor text, but it made so many people ignore it for no reason whatsoever. You guys are the best!

I just revisited this to see your opinion on Shigeki as he's probably my favourite card from this set. I feel like you guys pushed the needle with your rant about reprinting Concordant Crossroads in this, and for that I thank you. Easily the card I've needed most! And the new art is so sick!

Greasefang needs a build-around, and if you can consistently sacrifice the vehicles so that it ends back in the the graveyard, you MIGHT get something worthile. Then again, nothing wrong with throwing in a High Market into an Orzhov deck, you'll find use for it someway or another.

One neat thing to note about Isshin is that unlike Wulfgar, Isshin doesn't care which person's attacks trigger your stuff. You can absolutely build Isshin in a more pillowfort or political style way and utilize cards that trigger off of your opponents attacking and still get the double trigger.

Kura is a fun little tech to use if you are using Jarad as your commander. Sac Kura for 4 dmg to each opponent, get the token, sac the token, usually for sizable damage.

I think you guys miss the point of Shorikai: it costs 1 mana to draw 2 cards and discard 1 card that you can put in the command zone. And you get a body! I don't think anyone is thinking about crewing it...

Go-Shintai's art is like classic Kamigawa art and thusly is perfect once you understand why the spirits of Kamigawa looked so surreal. Go-Shintai was made for us Vorthos players, I'm not even remotely kidding.

The cousins Yamazaki have a side story on the MTG website, which details most of the things you were unsure about. Satsuki is referenced in Azuza's many Jousneys. And lots of people knew aboout the divinity-counter synergies, but the Myojins were all so incredibly expensive (seven Mana should win you the game...)- except the blue one, that can be one of the best draw- spells in the game. Also, is someone else thinking about Shorikai on the head of a control-deck that regularly wipes the board and then crews the vehicles with tokens? I could see that have some legs- pun intended.

I think they're underrating the reality chip, future sight is massive card advantage but the weakness is that you often have to tap out to cast it so you don't get your card back immediately. People underrate the degree to which paying x mana in installments is less clunky than paying x mana all at once

With Kairi, nobody seems to talk about the fact that the bounce ability incidentally gets rid of all your opponents' tokens because they're all MV 0. With the amount of tokens you see in an average commander game, that's something that should really be taken into consideration.

Love y’all but you missed the mark on Shorikai (the azorius vehicle). This is arguably the best blue white commander ever printed because it is an outlet for dramatic reversal and isochron scepter combo, as well as a decent draw engine on its own right. My absolute favorite thing about this card is that it’s literally the best parity breaker on Humility in the game, which tells you a lot about me :) This card will likely see fringe cEDH play, which should warrant at least a 8 for power. The crew ability is irrelevant for how I analyze this card. I’d love a follow up on these remarks from you guys ❤️

Shorikai could be way more powerful, as it sits its a pretty strong combo deck, phyrexian altar and intruders alarm draw your entire deck, get down fast mana that makes colors or annointed procession and its gg pick how you want to win not the easiest to assemble, but in these colors you have the tutors necessary to get the combo pieces out

I built Shigeki and the way I play him is use his ramp ability a few times when I’m still setting up then letting him sit in my hand until I need to get stuff back. Oh board wipe okay I’ll channel Shigeki and get back my relevant pieces or get back multiple good one off things like rishkars expertise, return of the wildspeaker, ect.

I think I'll have to disagree with you on Shorikai. I feel like you got stuck on the crewing part of the card(I can understand wanting to fulfill the fantasy and all that). Being able to pay only a single mana for that effect is really really good. You not only get to draw two whole cards and discard one(which depending on how you build it could be a good thing) you also get to make a 1/1. That's a whole lot of value for only 1 colorless mana on a commander that a lot of the time dodges all forms of creature removal. There's also a bunch of stuff in azorious colors that could allow you to untap it multiple times in a single turn or even go infinate. I definetly don't think it deserves being rated below Raiyuu(in regards to its power rating) when you consider everything it offers.

I actually LIKE the design for the Myojin. Because these cards I think should be legendary for the simple reason that you need to jump through other hoops if you really want more copies of them out at once. If these weren’t legendary you could make a bunch of tokens copies, mirrorweave effects etc. while these guys might not be the worst sounding example, as in too broken power wise. But some cards out there would if they weren’t legendary, yet at the same time they’re not great as a commander. I want wizards to print more cards like that, ones that just kind of show directly “just because a card is legendary doesn’t mean it’s intended to some cool commander”.

I believe Isshan used to work under a regional lord of the Imperials, but due to the shrinking power that lords position was dissolved and left him destitute, leading to Isshan leaving after becoming jaded of the Imperials. From there he joined the Asari to feel like he had purpose once more

Goldspan/Xorn + Ashnod's + Nim deathmantle + Atsushi = you did the thing

i've been racking my brain for the past hour trying to figure out how to make atsushi go infinite (in mono red, with him as your commander), and the only "combo" i came up with was atsushi + altar of dementia + goldspan dragon + underworld breach but it's not technically infinite, as it'll end once you've milled yourself and exiled it all from your yard with breach. which will just lose you the game the second you have to draw, because there isn't any labman effects in red to my knowledge. you can't mill your opponents with it because you need the cards in the yard for breach to work, making it even more restrictive. you *could* use flayer of the hatebound as a pinger (but it has a mana value of SIX) as whenever atsushi enters from the yard, it'll ping a single player for his power (4). you'll net 2 treasures for each iteration, but the entire cost of it all and massive limitation really doesn't make up for it. just to kill one player at starting life total you have to loop it 10 times, which will mill 40 and exile 30 of those said cards with breach, and if there's any lifegain deck at the table, you're likely not going to be able to win. it's very dependent, and definitely could win the game, but your opponents would have to be low on life or at least on the way to being low, you'd have to have most of your deck still in your library (somehow lmao), and not get interacted with setting it up. the total mana cost of setting it all up is way too expensive and slow, and the risk of decking yourself and not even winning is high. i suppose those treasures you get could be funneled into an X burn spell, but that just adds even more cards you need already in your hand, can be countered, could be accidentally milled and unable to get it back if it wasn't in your hand, and gives you even less cards you can exile with breach without caring that they got exiled. tl:dr; mono red atsushi combo is clunky and EXTREMELY dependent at best, decks you without even winning at worst. which is really not even worth playing lol. there's definitely probably something you could do outside of mono red that would likely work, but inside of just this color it's just not worth the headache.

Regarding Kaima, you don't necessarily have to make your opponents creatures better. You could instead just put on fire breathing auras or similar effects that have abilities that can't be activated by your opponents(or are so useless that they might as well be useless exxept for the fact that alot of those useless auras also cantrip when they enter). Meaning that even if Kaima gets killed you'll still not have to worry about the crack back

For the Myojin of Cryptic Dreams (since you're in mono blue), remember that if you cast a clone from your hand and copy the Myojin you'll get the counter. Have fun!

I think kosei is around power 5. You have to build the deck with the ratios right but when I've gotten it going I've killed people on either turn 5 or 6. Everyone else typically dies turn 7 or 8. If he's in the 99 and you're in at least 1 more color I think he's a lot easier to set up and he could just be a secret commander. I'm gonna make a chishiro deck with him in it after I get the precon. Loved the video. Hope y'all have a great day

Raiyuu is brownskinned in both arts but one is what a black American looks like and the other is what a black Japanese person looks like (note the dreads). Sadly, a manga aesthetic is often used as an excuse to lighten people's skin tones. Similar thing happened with Birgi.

Isshin also procs in some enchantments when opponents attacks, so he is better then Wulfgar for a little!

The Reality Chip is ranked as the best mono Blue commander in CEDH community, right on top of Urza. There are maybe some degree of misjudge for new cards, but I still believe it is a top tier commander on power wise.

Maybe I'm wrong, but doesn't cyclonic rift replace "target" in its text with "each" when you overload it? In that case, it no longer would target any creatures much the same way board wipes don't target creatures. Therefore, the overload cost would remain unchanged. Maybe I'm looking at it incorrectly?

That tasunari mutate deck sounds really interesting. I'd like to build that or the vehicle deck sounds pretty fun to me.

Off the top of my head, one way you can loop atsushi is using Yawgmoth, Mikaeus, and something that makes a token when a creature dies, you’ll probably need a way to gain life too though because of yawgmoth

Shorikai is one of the best commanders of kamigawa. Outlet for cepter, polymorph and it is very unique as it is not a planeswalker or a creature. It can grind, why did it get a 3?

Tameshi looks CRAZY strong. Every Into Roil effect draws a card! Unsummon becomes crazy strong! Tempo decks are usually very strong in 1v1 formats, but bad in EDH. I think this commander changes that completely and is going to end up being a boogeyman. It can just come down so earlier and prevent anyone else from setting up for so cheap. And then it's got a second line of text that's even more card advantage!! I love Azorius control, it's probably my core colors, but even I'm hesitant to play this deck for the sake of my playgroup's fun level.

HOW? - Hidetsugu not in the story? You have to read the books of the original trilogy, he is the most badass character in them, although he is not too prominent.

seeing shorikai get done so dirty here was a shame, the card is a budget monstrosity - drawing 2 cards for one mana, getting stuff into the graveyard and even getting a free creature stapled on a noncreature which is harder to remove is honestly great. Shorikai doesn't even need an artifact deck, it's just a deck sifting machine
