The 3rd ending of the original had the demon leave Katie’s body as the cops arrived. Then as Katie (now unpossessed started to approach the cops, Tobi tricked the cop into shooting her.

Emma I really enjoyed this video and I'd love to see more videos like this, it was great & loved all of your research. The Paranormal Activity movies are truly scary. I saw them all in theatres with all of them having sold out crowds that all of reacting exactly the same to what was going on and that is an amzing/ surreal experience that probably wouldn't happen now a days. Although I have not seen them since I saw them in theatres so I am not sure if they are the same watching at home or not but they have you facing your door when you go to bed at night lol

Omg the fan cam in Paranormal Activity 3 is ICONIC - it's the main memory I have of that film, I remember me and Adam shrieking and then laughing uncontrollably at that moment we were so nervous :') I've not seen the last two, I'm guessing you don't have to watch them in order? I think my order from memory from best to worst would literally be 1, 2, 3, 4 though... maybe I'd change my mind if I rewatch them though! And the 3rd ending of the first film I had seen, and yeesh. I remember seeing PA1 the weekend it came out and in the theater the collective tension was almost unbearable in the best way. For me, the entire sequence with the baby powder always unsettles me. Great list, Emma 😊 And, yeah, when I saw PA2, I completely jumped up and back out of my seat during the cabinet moment 😂

Hey Emma, Great video...Awesome job!! It's cool to see someone who loves the PA franchise(except Ghost Dimension),as much as I do! Everybody says how much they hate Found-Footage films,and that they are so awful. Paranormal Activity does found-footage right...Nobody does it better(sorry Blair Witch)! The plots are spooky,eerie and progressive. The characters,for the most part, are grounded and relatable,and then there's Katie! She is truly one of the coolest,bad-ass villains in the Horror genre. From the end of part 1, when she is fully possessed, throughout the rest of the PA franchise...whenever she appears on screen,there is a true sense of dread and fear from the audience. In the sequels, when she appears,we the audience,knows there is some sort cool,kickass ,scary thing about to happen...but what will it be? Katie IS the franchise,and the movies she is in and those scenes that contain her are much better for it!! I am a huge fan of this franchise,and can hope that after Next of Kin,Paranormal Activity goes back to the roots of what made the franchise so special...simplicity,tension, great lighting and sound,and of course Katie!!

The first PA is in a class all its own. I've only seen numbers 2 and 3 after that. But I own the first one on Blu-Ray, and it still scares me even when I know what's going to happen! Thank you for the engaging and detailed reviews.

I love all of them, (except for Ghost Dimension 😂) and what I love about The marked ones is that when I first watched it I didn't know it was a Paranormal Activity Movie, because in Italy it has been released just as "Il segnato", so when I arrived at the ending I was litterally screaming.

I remember seeing the first one in theaters. When I got home I ran downstairs (where my room was) grabbed my pillow and ran back up and laid on the couch in the living room with the tv on all night. I didn’t sleep a wink. It scared the hell out of me!

I didn't hate any of the movies but some more disappointing relative to their predecessors. And I believe in the version of the first paranormal activity that I saw the lead character actually killed her boyfriend and then ended up getting shot by police. I need to rewatch it. Are you familiar with lady shasha from what did I just watch? she's another small reviewer I like to watch. I just bring her up because she referenced you in her recent review of the movie Cam..

Hi Emma, this is the first time I've watched your channel. Of course, I am already a sub of Sarah's channel PossessedByHorror, which is how I've come by your channel, after her recommendation. I don't know how I would rank them all, but for me, I didn't like 'The Marked One's' I thought it was a different feel from the first 3, and I would have preferred that the story stayed with the more immediate character of Katie. I'm British, so I don't really have experience of the White American - Latino dynamics, how they're relatable, or not. I know that there was Martine in the 2nd one, but the switch from White American, to Latino, took me out of the film. I very much liked the first 3, and 4 was good too. I wouldn't give the 3rd one as much hate as you and Sarah have given it, I thought that had some good innovation in it. I liked the bit when all the furniture fell from the ceiling. Similar to all the kitchen cupboards flying open in P.A. 2, it showed depth to the characters as in they had been shown undeniable evidence of something supernatural happening - rather than one piece of furniture moving, or a door shutting. As far as 'The Marked Ones' goes, as I heard it, we were all expecting a Halloween release here in the U.K., then when the release date approached. The film company were like, 'oh, we've failed to write another sequel' then knowing that they'd let the audience down, 'The Marked One's' was rushed through, written, filmed, edited, before Christmas for a January/February release. So that's why I'm not such a fan of it. As far as production of the P.A.'s goes, the series just got more Hollywood(y), after they realised they were onto a winner. Money talks as far as Hollywood is concerned, and in that, they lost site of the reason for P.A.'s success, the raw, shoddy camera work, the unknown actors (which allowed for investment in the characters, and gave the illusion of reality), and the rawness of real footage or mundane life caught on video-camera, if they'd stuck to that, the series of film would have been a lot better. LIke.... you know if you watched a David Attenborough documentary back in the day? Back in the 80's 90's, he just gave raw footage and information. Now in the new millennia, everything is over-produced, even the documentarians are scripted, and acting, the wild animals have been given names so the audience feel involved with them. Do you know what I mean? If the whole series appeared to be real footage, news reports (with real journalists, news readers) backed the story up, to give that illusion of realness, instead of this Hollywood, overproduced, saccharine, fake-crap, the whole P.A. series would have been good. I'm saying this, and I love the series of films, they could've been better though.

The Ghost Dimension is lots of fun when you watch it in 3D, though.

I heard that Steven Spielberg suggested the ending for the first movie. Originally Katie was supposed to be killed in a police shootout. The first movie is my favorite.

Paranormal Activity movies always had a special place in my heart since the first one is one of the first horror movie I've ever seen. They're real guilty pleasures. I'm so excited for the next one coming in 2022!

My favourite thing about the first PA film is that it’s one of those films where I’ll always remember where I was when I watched it and how it made me feel!

The third ending I saw years ago and I actually like it the most out of the 3. Theatrical has the big scare at the end with the flying through doorway but I feel like this one would just have me in shock and awe for minutes leading up to the police showing up and then the tension of “what will she do when they come upstairs.” Obviously went right the best choice because the universe (for the most part) was very enjoyable.

I only ever saw the first movie. Even though there were super drunk people in the audience mocking it the entire time (until they got kicked out) I was completely sucked in. I didn’t think I was scared until later, but I slept with the lights on for three days. I don’t think I’d find it as scary now if I rewatched it, but I’ve been too scared to, lol

I'll never forget the first night i watched it. huddled around a computer at midnight with 2 girls when i was in year 8. I ended up having a developing a massive crush on one of them after that night, but then i moved away and never saw her again. it broke my little 13 year old heart. Its was so nostalgic and its just such a good memory

I can’t help it, I love 3. It’s my favorite. Maybe it’s my nostalgia for the 80s having grown up in the same exact time as this movie is set. I love the scares , I love the kitchen scare. I love the hair pulling scene. And of course Grandma.

The secret ending is Katie sitting on the floor after killing Micah rocking for like days then the police come in, she goes after the police with a knife and the police shoot her

The 3rd one holds a special place in my heart, but I think I'm biased because of my age. I was Kristi's age in 1988, and absolutely everything about the film gives me nostalgia. I think I watch it more for the feeling it gives me than for the scares! Although I do agree that this is where the story starts to get convoluted, and there are too many CGI effects.

Interestingly the 3rd secret ending is the version I first saw, have seen the most frequently and know as the ending! I’ve never seen the one where Katie leaves! Maybe that ending was for a UK release?

I agree that the first Paranormal Activity is the best just because it gave us a new way to tell an old ghost story, which is also the reason that The Blair Witch Project was a big hit ten years before that. Paranormal Activity was the only film in the series I saw in theaters, the rest were by rental (due to the loud theater speakers and distracting jump scares). The Ghost Dimension is also the worst and I think the whole "ghost sheet" sequence in Paranormal Activity 3 may be my favorite scene in the series. If I were to rank them by memory, I guess it would look this (best to worst): 1. Paranormal Activity (the film that began it all) 2. Paranormal Activity 3 (ghost sheet and the rotating camera was good for variety) 3. Paranormal Activity 2 (dog being hurt was heartbreaking, but he did survive) 4. Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones (another dog in peril, but I did like the twist ending) 5. Paranormal Activity 4 (weak story, the KINECT seemed like it's only gimmick) 6. Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension (all 3-D gimmick, no real connection to previous films, very disappointing finale)

With you on the first two but that's where we diverge quite a bit. I thought they Micah did mention something about The Coven & another girl that described pretty much what Katie was going through & was committed or something towards end of pt. 1 but could be confusing it with another entry. Pt 2 has a different version out there because I've seen both . One defenitely shows an insanely quick frame of the demonic Toby during the exorcism & the other died not but it defenitely exists & it works because its pretty grotesque & it's illuminated by what almost seems like lightning & it's so fast but it's all I needed going forward because I agree they showed way too much in pt 6. So pt 1, pt 2, pt 3 Lol! I know the arguments but I liked this one quite a bit. I like the relationship between her husband & Randy . Friendship seems real and there's something kind of menacing with his wife even though not malevolent herself. The way he finds out about how the husband's haven't fared too well..I know it's a bit exposition heavy & the fx got ramped up but I thought they worked for the most part & you kind of have to show how it started if you're going to buy into the whole narrative anyway then goes pt 6 I'm my four spot . I know what you're saying about the days of less is more , 3 of my top 20 horror films are the original Blair Witch Project but only in a darkened theater or home alone at night in pitch black. In the theater it felt like the witch was everywhere at times, pt 1 of this franchise & Open Water which is BRUTAL & I feel totally underrated as a horror film. But I've heard of what they called ' spirit cameras' that were used in the past by huxters & con artists but I knew what they were trying to go for & for it to work you kind have to assume the ghost dimension pertains to the demonic or paranormal dimension as well which I know some people wouldn't do but I did & Iiked the sisters seeing them from the past. Creepy. I thought the gateway to ???hell maybe or just another dimension was kind of necessary in a way because it completes the narrative, kind of. Toby won. He's going to enter our world where he absolutely shouldn't be but he is. I'd go pt 4 next mainly because I had to keep rewatching it because somebody thought it was the best. The X box stuff is really cool but it all of them , this one seemed the most contrived . It covers alot of ground really, picking up the story of Katie & Hunter while introducing this whike new element with the Worlock kid & all the Coven stuff & the mother in this one just ...seemed .... mildly disabled or something . Idk . The two leads are really good though & I've not seen pt 5 yet because I didn't think it tied in at all to the rest of the series which , apparently , it does . Gonna have to watch it soon because I've heard they ARE going to do another one . Lol! t of

Huge Paranormal Activity fan, first ones mostly. I loved when they put out the almost 6hour long straight movie of the first 3 in chronological order. my only defense of Ghost dimension is Dont Forget one of the selling points when it came out was " For the first time you will see the activity " 😂🤣😂🤣

You can find the third ending on KZfaq once Katie screams in the kitchens miah runs downstairs you hear him scream he dies off camera Katie comes back upstairs covered in blood sits in front of the bed and just rocks theirs as the camera laps for a few days then their friend from earlier in the movie comes in and sees miah’s body scream and calls the police all of this while Katie is still rocking in place then the police come to the house come upstairs and Katie snaps out of the trance she was in and says “where’s miah, where’s miah” and then in the background the closet door slams shut wich startles the police officer who shoots Katie dead and that’s the end of the original ending it’s definitely the best ending out of the 3 it’s a lot more realistic and creepy it’s also alittle longer

I think the 3rd ending was actually the original, from before Paramount acquired the film. I remember my ex, who watched the film both before and after its theatrical release, complaining that the ending to the theatrical cut was predictable and silly compared to the stark realism of the original. Having now seen both, I have to agree.
