Hello, and welcome to another video! In the Percy Jackson universe you either die straight or live long enough to become a part of the LGBTQ+ community, which I love to see. Apollo in the original myths was a bisexual menace and we love that. Reading through the myths,you can see Artemis only falls in love with one person,a hunter called Orion who she was already very close to,so I think she’s demiromantic (which is on the Aro spectrum) And Hestia is an aroace icon because she shows that we can love our family and be caring and kind people so she is just unbelievably awesome.

The reason there’s a difference between gay and attracted to men is that he could be bi/pan/etc and we don’t know his specific sexuality; just that he’s not straight Edit: same with attracted to men and women because she could be bi/pan/omni/etc

i think the reason that athena is marked as alloromantic is because if you say that someone is asexual that is often taken to mean aromantic as well, so saying that she is alloromantic specifies that she is ace but not aro, without specifying who she is romantically attracted to

But as I see it most people outside the LGBT+ community and even a good amount of people in it do not get that Asexual doesn't automatically mean Aroace. I am very open about being Asexual/Nonbinary and most people I meat just assume that means that I wouldn't want to date like ever. I think putting Alloromantic there gives people a distinction (also giving an explainatio. for being a maiden goddess while still having biological children). And I think that's also why it's easier to see Hestia a a queer Icon compared to Athena and Artemis. Athena's brain children are something not possible for us mere mortals. And Artemis whole stick is that you have to take an oath (that is clearly not dependent on being Aroace). Meanwhile Hestia is just like I am staying a Maiden and Zeus is like ok, I guess? (At least if I remember the Percy Jackson, Greek Gods book right)

I think the entire Apollo cabin may be LGBTQ+ as Apollo is bi in Greek mythology and that may have leaked into their characteristics, as Apollo had a child with man so anything is possible with Apollo at this point

Athena is aromantic and asexual in Greek myths. She's known to be one of the only gods Aphrodite has no power over and literally only cares about war and strategy. Rick may have dropped her being aro for PJO, but she's still asexual.

22:40 I am not attracted to men (lol) but a guy being attracted to man can also mean he is Bi, pan, omni, and others. The ‘proper’ term is Achillean (the mlm equivalent to sapphic 25:08 also here) There are other identities than gay, straight, and bi, so when you don’t know the most canon sexuality, it is actually a good way to put it in my opinion.

Arospec ace here, and I'm ehhh on the Artemis being good aroace rep as well, because the main reason she's considered aroace is because that's assumed to be the deal with the Hunters but some, but we also know of multiple Hunters who at least experience romantic attraction, so it's clearly not a criteria (not to mention the whole Orion thing). I would personally just love if Rick Riordan could clarify that she chose to start the Hunters because she's aroace and not the other way around, because it's definitely unclear in the text as of right now, and having her or the other Hunters choose to identify as aroace because they're in the hunt is not good rep. Also I definitely believe Athena as asexual because it says that she falls in love with men after being intellectually attracted to them, which implies to me that she doesn't experience sexual attraction rather than just choosing not to act on it. I do agree in principle that being a maiden goddess doesn't automatically make a character ace though, because you run into the same issue where abstinence is a choice and asexuality isn't.

Jo and Emmie could theoretically be asexual lesbians though, unless there's something in the books that implies they're not (I haven't read TOA). I don't think being asexual is a prerequisite to join the hunt regardless, I'm just hoping for more ace rep lol.

Honestly, for me, Piper being bi just felt like it came completely out of nowhere. I don't have any issue with her being bi, but she never seemed to show any interest in girls/women until that scene at the end of Trials of Apollo. Also, the main reason she broke up with Jason (at least, as far as I remember) was because he pulled away after learning that one of them would die. And her reaction at the end of the Burning Maze tells me that she clearly still loved him. Side Note: I loved the Miss Martian "ARTEMIS!" clip being used. 26:52 I mean, Poseidon and Nerites (a minor sea god, who was a son of Nereus, "the old man of the sea") are the parents of Anteros, the God of Requited/Mutual Love. 31:45 Personally, I'd put Zeus as Pansexual. He'll sleep with anything that moves, so long as they're even remotely attractive. (I do agree that he is the absolute worst.)

Ik that Thalia has some fan based ideas, but it was confirmed that her and Luke were lovers at one point, and she called Apollo hot. I’m not sure about her completely but I think she’s straight based off what I know.

In Demigod diraires we know that Like obv did, but throughout titans curse you can pick up on little hits here and there ESPECIALLY during Luke vs Thalia. I get the ‘but they were besties’ but, Thalia showed signs of heartbreak over and over when talking abt Luke, and my best friend (who had a bf) showed almost identical sign when he dumped her. Also, putting the information together, I’m pretty sure Rick did confirm it a long time ago. While typing this, I just did a quick google search just in case to check just in case Google was like “oh yes” or “hell no”. This is a copy paste for ‘who did Thalia Grace love’ (or like) “ Luke Castellan: A love interest while she was a runaway. Luke had promised her and Annabeth they would all a happy family. This changed after Luke's evil actions in Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and after she became a Hunter of Artemis” I truly belive that Luke’s betrayal drove Thalia to the hunters bc originally in the titans curse she hated them but after the Luke vs Thalia she swapped to them. Luke vs Thalia had some GREAT little hints especially when she starts crying a little. It shows that she once loved him but now that was gone because she saw the monster he became. Not to mention she ALMOST joined Kronoses army when Luke asked her to, but when she was thinking about it, he threw his sword at her, causing Thalia to end up throwing him off the cliff I hope this helps!!!!

As another member of the Ace community, the way you talked about it felt a little... idk, dismissive and invalidating? Like allo being "the default" and not a label that needs mentioning. "Choosing" a celibate lifestyle meaning someone's not really ace, because abstinence must always imply underlying attraction, ig? And needing to give off ace vibes for your sexuality to actually be believed as valid. Idk, probably not what you meant to say, but that's how it came off to me at least. There's so many "not ace enough" arguments out there that seeing it come from one of our own, feels a little icky.

You can be ace and choose abstinence, what I meant to say is that *choosing* abstinence is NOT a sign of being ace As for the rest, I only talked about it in such a superficial or dismissive way because they’re fictional characters (not to mention historical) so it’s more black and white than in real life aaaaaaand ✨vibes✨ are all I have to go off of (since nothing is stated clearly in the text) Hope this clears things up 💜🤍🩶🖤

I think the reason people say Athena is asexual is because she doesn’t have sex with humans I think. She makes mind babies or something. For me, I like the 4 type romantic model of attraction: sensual (touch), aesthetic (looks), romantic (emotional) and sexual (literally just sex). Sorry if you already knew that, it’s just something I like talking about. cause for me, using the two type model (romantic and sexual) wasn’t helpful cause sexual attraction basically included aesthetic sensual and sexual attraction. And even though I have aesthetic and sensual attraction I have no sexual attraction. So if you separate that, it’s possible she’s asexual imo
