I love how all of his "dialogue" in Prime was just replaying recordings of things everyone else said, but the one time he spoke with his own voice was just to say "Soundwave superior. Autobots inferior." before crashing his own drives (putting himself into a coma) so they couldn't interrogate him. Absolute menace.

I really love Cybertron and Prime Soundwave the most. Cybertron because I just love his radio host dialogue, and Prime is such a drastic departure from how he's normally portrayed with him being more of a silent left-hand man, but that makes the one time he speaks all the more awesome.

Remember his fight with Wheeljack? Seriously, it speaks of Wheeljack's skill that he got so far as to _crack_ Soundwave's facial screen the way he did. Soundwave still won that fight, but an Autobot can certainly call himself badass if he can get so far as to actually _harm_ the second strongest Decepticon in the show (aside from Megatron himself).

You know, I was expecting when you showed off the female Soundwave design to make a reference to Hatsune Miku. The giant twintails were clearly inspired by her, and what better inspiration for a musical transformer than the first Vocaloid.

Transformers Prime Soundwave was all about the creepy factor I love it. He never spoke, outsmarted every oponent, even his vehicle mode fits because during that time there was the whole ethical dilema of using unmanned weapons in war

Been some good ones. Prime Soundwave is at the top of my list though. Definitely one of those designs you can tell stood out in concept art and they just had to realize it. Love the silhouette. Perfectly fits his mysterious nature, while being faceless and having jagged edges tell us to be afraid. Sadly lose his minicons and their personalities in the process, minus the quiet laserbeak, but it is a great take.

Soundwave's vow of silence is because on his arms in his cybertronian design were his other cassettes which he lost/were killed in battle with Lazerbeak the only survivor and in an update Transformers Earthwars Soundwave can transform and plays the touch.

I love the G1 and especially love the Prime version of Soundwave. Cuz from my perspective how they designed soundwave in Prime gave him the appearance that he couldn’t so much as lift a car without collapsing, but with his portrayals throughout the show I firmly believed that if he wanted to, he could overthrow megatron and lead the decepticons, considering he mopped the floor with anyone that he came up against

I can't agree with the Dark of the moon version. I felt that him being a satellite before worked real well with what his role was for the decepticons. This version just has him looking like every other decepticon or even autobot that's a turns into a luxury car. I'd forget a lot of times that that was him. The color changes would've made a huge diff

They're gonna make a Leader Class Soundwave toy, later on in the year. It's gonna be from Legacy, so I'm looking out for this one. I have a gut feeling that it's either gonna be based on his Prime, RID, or Earth Spark appearance. Soundwave truly is, *Superior.*

They actually went back and gave original Earth Wars Soundwave and Earth Wars Blaster the ability to transform into their cassette and boom box modes respectively, they also even play The Touch when in their alternate modes.

I think Prime nailed it with the "do something different" approach. Soundwave was genuinely menacing to me as a kid. Now that I'm a little older and I'm rewatching Prime as of typing this, I still love this design and how sleek he is. And I'm honestly more turned on by Laserbeak being a drone rather than a bird with a spycam in its forehead. Although I still love G1 Soundwave (thats why I'm buying RP-01 Acoustic Wave soon :] )

Prime Soundwave is _the_ definitive Soundwave in my books, and one I simp for heavily. And I think the Beast Hunters toy version is only meant for the toyline. If you want a good, perfect Soundwave for the main show, go for the TV animation model. For an experimental beasty look, go for the toy.

Soundwave always have the best design. The best design Soundwave in my opinion is always G1, Cybertron, Animated (even though I'm not a fan of his origins), Prime, and Cyberverse.

My favourite Soundwave is from Animated simply because of his voice. It’s perfect, it’s like listening to heaven (I’m not joking btw). I also love his design and colour scheme. Laserbeak being a guitar is also a perfect choice because it fits him so much! If only his minicons were instruments in future versions too…

The only real gripe I have with it is the mouth... I never like seeing Soundwave with a mouth, but the rest of the design is pretty great. The speakers on the arms, especially.

Im a huge fan of the G1, Devestation, Cybertron, Animated, Prime concept art and IDW designs. But my favorite is definetly Prime Soundwave as his presence in that series is absolutely incredible. I love how the design of Soundwave in Transformers Prime feels so familiar yet so different at the same time which truly makes it stand out compared to his other designs. A close second for me would have to be the WFC/FOC design of Soundwave.

Starting to get into Transformers more and with Soundwave being my favorite this was a pleasure to watch. So far Gen 1 is my favorite design, along with the revised Aligned Continuity. Prime? I'm neutral because of how buggy he looks to me. Both him and Starscream had this praying mantis, grasshopper thing going on and I wasn't feeling it. Thank you for the upload, our boi deserves more love

Excellent review! Thank you! Soundwave is easily one of my favourite characters of all time. And I totally agree about his Bayverse colour scheme. Funny thing is, I've SEEN a couple of those Mercedes SLS AMGs in a nice dark blue flake paint scheme, so why didn't they just carry it over for Soundwave in the movies, instead of making him silver? Put gold trim around his windscreen and/or grille, and BLAMMO -- instant brain-happies.

I don't really like it when they give Soundwave a Vehicle alt mode as I think it heavily limits what can be done with his Cassettes. One of the most important things for any Soundwave to me is his relation/synergy with his Cassettes, this was perfect for his G1 incarnation but since Hasbro feels that they need to give Soundwave a Vehicle mode you'll usually only see 1 or 2 of his minions in a given series. The closest I think have come to fixing this are Cybertron and Animated. I didn't really like the Cybertron Soundwave but I do feel it integrated Laserbeak seamlessly into his alt mode. Animated Soundwave was a really creative idea that I feel could work with any Vehicle mode Soundwave. If I was to give Soundwave a Vehicle mode it be something like a News Truck, it sticks to his role as a communication officer, could allow for his Cassettes to become other parts of the Truck, and whenever I think about it I keep imagining Rumble and Frenzy sitting in the front seats of the truck rather than becoming so other but to the equipment.

I agree, I like it when Soundwave keeps his central "gimmick" as a deployer minion-master, and it's harder to do with certain vehicle modes. I like your idea of a news van for an alt mode. I had two ideas of my own: * A musician tour bus van with a similar aesthetics to Animated Soundwave, which would give him plenty of space to store his cassettes. Sacriligeously, I kind of want to make them motorcycles, because they'd stay small but have extra mobility. I could be talked out of that. * Playing homage to Soundwave's role G1 but with a slight twist, I also had the idea of Soundwave just being a tiny con that turns into a cool bike, like a Tron lightcycle. There'd be an emphasis on his sneaking ability (harder to spot a smaller bot) and how his true physical power comes from his cassette partners, who are now closer to Soundwave's size. I'm thinking maybe they can also combine RID15 Chop Shop-style into an adaptable robot. Basically, the idea is to focus on Soundwave's stealth and numbers over direct physical strength. Again, possibly sacrilegious. XD

Transformers Prime Sondwave: Doesn't go into the field often, but when he does, he doesn't lose. And honestly, when he made that first appearance in Robots in Disguise (2017), my first impulse was "Oh my god, he's going to kill you all." That, of course., didn't happen. I'm not sure what to think about Optimus Prime deciding to go off and fight Laserbeak alone (and almost losing) when Soundwave is threatening to kill all life on Earth in the finale.

I really appreciate your love for Animated Soundwave. He's personally peak Soundwave for me. I love his color scheme, detailing, paint job, shoulder-speakers, and alt mode. I also really like his role in the series as a "newborn" Decepticon that's less of a physical threat but still manages to be a solo threat for the entirety of Team Optimus through electronic mind control. Also, I enjoy that he kind of becomes a personal nemesis for Sari. Very fun take on the character, and I wish we got to see the plans for him in S4. I also do want to give a nod to RID15's bulkier incarnation of Soundwave from S4. I was admittedly one of the fans who *wasn’t* as fond of Prime Soundwave, so I liked some of the return to form while integrating the cooler aspects of TFP's Soundwave's design.

Hey Comodin Cam, after looking through the playlist of characters and thinking on the next character, I think a Bruticus list would be pretty cool, or even characters that make up Bruticus, one of my favorite designs is FoC Swindle, love that design, but eventually down the road, I know he’s not that popular as other characters but favorite seeker that doesn’t get enough attention is Sunstorm, he just looks awesome! You already did Thundercracker and Skywarp so Sunstorm would finish my three favorite seekers. But I’d like to hear others thoughts on who they’d like to see!

Not sure if anyone else has pointed this out, but I will have to say that for the earth wars section of your video, I will say that for a long time, Soundwave and Blaster did not have alternate modes in the game, but after a collaboration with a music playing mobile game{forgot its name, feel free to point it out.), they were finally given their respective alt modes and even play "The Touch" in it's entirety while transformed. My one complaint about that was that Blaster's arms were messed up after the update which they didn't fix for a long time.

Transformers prime had the best soundwave and shockwave in design and how they acted and it was there strongest versions in my opinion. And it just seems that transformers prime soundwave and shockwave are thr strongest characters in the show

Can't believe you didn't mention the Headmasters design. It was when Galvatron reused some of Soundwave's parts, along with some other new parts, and reconstructed another Soundwave, and renamed him 'New Soundwave'.

I almost universally hate iterations of Soundwave who adopted more "normal" dialogue, but Cybertron's crazy DJ, between the interactions with sideways and telling the history of his planet ranks him amongst my favourites.

An armored personnel carrier is a fantastic earth mode for Soundwave - it has that bulkiness core to many of his designs while also playing into his personal attack squad that he carries around with him. I think the main issue with it is just figuring out where they should eject from in his robot mode.

DOTM Soundwave was always how I thought of him, I watched the Bay Films a lot and he is my favorite. Sad how they nerfed him though, but I always was rooting for Wave lol. I also like impersonating the “No Prisoners…” line, which along with his voice, was super badass. For me anyway, Bay got everything right design wise in DOTM.Nothing can convince me otherwise
