Juan Carlos I is known as "el Campechano" which is a very spanish word that means that he did not follow the formalities of the crown in the positive ways of it, he was kinda "close" to the people I guess. And our current king, Felipe VI is called "el preparao" which translates to "the prepared", as he received lots of formation during the reign of his father. In fact, Felipe is te first spanish royal with a degree.

It's an awesome name! More inventive than me- I just call Henry VIII "Bloody Henry" cos he deserves it way more than his daughter Mary- Philip's 2nd wife, ofc, who got the Black Legend treatment in England too. The British comedy troupe I love had Philip as a fabulous villain- hilarious, charismatic, evil & sexy- in their very silly film about Shakespeare, "Bill". He's still a villain, but you don't cast the stupidly handsome Ben Willbond & get him shirtless if you want people to hate a character... :D

@versenelol5083
@versenelol5083 2 жыл бұрын
This is actually a very shallow interpretation of what happened. Recent research reveals those 5 defaults were actually just crises in Spain’s capacity to shoulder its short-term debt that was quickly resolved by adjusting long-term debt. For context, England could only do that by the 1730s. The fact that investors still invested 4 more times after the first default should be telling you why: because Castilian finance was so OP that investors *still gained profit* even when Spain defaulted. It was the Habsburgs that cursed Spain to destitution with wars when it could have been so OP.

I feel like Ferdinand II deserved his own ranking apart from his status as one of the Catholic Monarchs, due to reigning as King of Aragon in his own right and effectively controlling Castile for 12 years following his wife's death. It was *him* and not Philip the Handsome who had declared Joana insane, and it was *him* who governed Castile in her name for nearly the entire time between Isabella's death and his own. Philip's time as king lasted for less than a year, and Charles only took over following Ferdinand's death.

Isabel I on her own is a complete absolute bamf and Ferdinand recognized his wife was a bamf and was a military and political beast. He even managed Spain for Juana while Charles was still underage and raised Ferdinand I HRE. I love their motto "Tanto Monta" Because there they recognize the equal power of each other and their kingdoms. You should see TVE's Isabel. They show all the battles, maneuvers and political savvy of Isabel and Ferdinand, there is a movie about Juana and there is also a sequel series about Charles which details all the conflicts and political intrigue in their lives as well. One of the best historical series I have ever seen a lot of the scenes and seem like out of the pages of history and paintings while using actual historical spots. One of the scenes I was shaken by the most is the one where Juana is crying over Philip which looks just like the painting. Just a fan.

Important data about Amadeo He asked to meet Cervantes at his castle. Cervantes was dead...like more than 100 years ago. He was quite dumb. One history teacher said once "He returned to his island to have kids, which was what he was good at" Edit: Alfonso XII is also famous because his first wife Mercedes - which he apparently loved, although some sources differ - died very young. He became extremely sad and there was a song that said this. "Donde vas Alfonso XII, donde vas, triste de ti Voy en busca de Mercedes, que hace tiempo no la vi Ya Mercedes, Ya Mercedes, muerta está, que yo la vi Cuatro nobles la llevaban por las calles de Madrid" Which basically said "Where are you going Alfonso XII, where are you going sad of you/sad man I'm going to search for Mercedes, as there has been a lot of time since I saw her She is already dead, Mercedes is already dead, I saw her Four noblemen moved her around Madrid streets" Yep, depressing, I even read once that kids sing this horrible song on the streets...but I hope it's just a rumour Edit 2: Fernando VII had a gigantic d****. No, I'm not joking, he had gigantism in that specific area and he had to have sex with a...cushion that look like a doughnut to not hurt their wives. Edit 3: Also, Philip V had some serious mental issues and he was also addicted to sex. He even had sex with her wife only two days before her death, when she was also dead.

This made Castle a major naval power, if not the major naval power, in the Atlantic for two hundred years before the discovery of America.

In my opinion the 3 monarchs of Haiti were mostly despots. The first one Jean Jacques dessalines (Jacques I) and the founder of Haiti. Brilliant general. But as emperor many people were unhappy with his reign and he was assassinated just two years after he became emperor. Henri Christophe I'd say was one of haiti's best kings/rulers. He traded with Britain, hired tutors and created his own noble order. And is well remembered for building like the Citadel Laffaree one of the largest fortress in the America's and San souci Palaces which are popular tourist destinations in Haiti. Sadly he committed suicide after getting a stroke

The biggest mistake for me it's to have put Joanna I, but as you have remarked that she did not have any effective power it is not a big issue. Perhaps, from a Spanish perspective it is difficult to place Phillip IV so high as during its reign the Hispanic Monarchy officially lost its European hegemony in favor of France because of the Peace of Wesphalia.
