The difference between Toph and Kuvira is similar to the difference between Iroh and Azula. Kuvira and Azula are prodigies in their respective element, but Iroh and Toph are actual geniuses, because they have a massively deep and pure understanding of their elements. They create new skills e.g redirecting lightning and metalbending. They also learnt their bending by the original benders of their respective elements (the dragons and the badger moles).

Though, Kuvira does clearly learn from the other elements, hence her dodging or redirecting attacks. That's also, at a guess, why she's able to keep up with the Avatar.

@@dominickeijzer5844 well, korra was pretty nerfed during kuvira arc. mostly because of some previous trauma from the previous arc? it's kinda BS but yeah it nerfed her greatly.

@@lolcall5295 Didn't Korra basically beat Kuvira both times anyway? She was a second away from turning her into a pancake with an overhead rock the first time, and the second time Kuvira had to run and use the spirit vine cannon.

We All Know that Korra only lost to Kuvira because of the trauma, later she was able to fight balanced with Kuvira, if it were the Korra of the third season in that fight, Kuvira would have lost without Korra having to enter the Avatar state.

Honestly, I doubt it. Did you see the fight after Korra overcame her trauma? Kuvira was only taken down by her own deeds!

Kuvira is precise, quick, and effective. No flashy potato attacks. Toph is the OG, she is the most powerful but also the oldest by the time Korra exists. Su-Yin is artistic and open-minded but gentle, Lin is rigid and traditional. Korra just combined the technique with movement styles and psychologies from other 4 elements.

The probably did that because the amount of important metalbenders in this show is low, meaning they did that just to bump up the count for their list. Thats what I think but I could be wrong.

Bruh, you can’t use Korra being an avatar as an excuse, she is the first one to have learned this, i dont think korra got help from previous avatar skills, thats why she isn’t in the other bending ranklists, just like Wan was in ranklist from best firebenders because he learned firebending before becoming the avatar

I'd say that Aang's for sure the strongest airbender and someway in between the 5 best waterbenders. I think he might be a part of the strongest earthbenders but at a very low position. Nowhere to be found in the strongest firebenders list. Korra's for sure one of the strongest earthbender and firebender. I'd say she's the 5th? best we saw, after the royal family. I am sure she's at the Top 10 in both waterbending and airbending but we had better examples than her at both. I haven't read the comics so I might not know all about Aang though, and he was a child during his time so it's only natural that he lacks at firebending but he for sure improved, I just don't think it's his most used element nor did he strived to understand it more.

I never noticed how similar The Dark One (One of Toph’s Metalbending Students in the ATLA comics, he and his peers are on this list) and Huan are. Both are artistic Metalbenders, among other things

I like how even though Lin > Suyin in the Earthbending rankings, Suyin > Lin in the Metalbending rankings. And it makes sense, I think.

People love to underestimate Kuvira. They use Korra's trauma as an excuse but when Kuvira was fighting Korra that time Kuvira wasn't even trying. The second time Kuvira fought Korra, she got just as many hits in as Korra did while Korra had access to 2 elements and metalbending, while Kuvira only had access metal bending.

Korras trauma is an excuse. And she wasn’t trying bc she knew korra was at a weak point. Korra had the upper hand in the second fight the majority and ranked all the hits kuvira got on her like it was nothing. Kuvira slammed korra into a metal desk and korra immediately got up lol

@@Jassiij27 Korra did use fire against Kuvira multiple times. She stopped using it because it was easy to block and dodge. With air she was able to hit more forceful shots that are harder to block and dodge because Kuvira couldn't actually see it. If she used fire she would have lost because Kuvira had armor on, meaning the only thing she would of had to protect was her face. And Korra was definitely not winning. It was emphasized multiple times that they were equally matched. If Korra got a hard hit in, Kuvira got one in, and it ended with them both throwing eachother across the room. Also, this is not the 'strongest bender', this is the strongest metal bender. So again, if Korra only used metal, she would of lost immediately.

I would’ve put Suyin above Korra and Lin. When she jumps on that tank, spins that sheet of metal and then forms it around herself, that just left me breathless. She also uses the metal cuffing technique that Kuvira uses.

Korra didn't use all 4 elements in either of her fights with Kuvira. I'm sure Katara probably taught her how to draw water from the air for fighting, but she never used waterbending against Kuvira directly, just against her giant mecha. Might have ended the fights faster if she had.

I don’t think Katara showed her how to pull water from the air cause then Korra would have used it in her fights. For this one though, I don’t think Korra would have been able to pull water from the air anyway, since they were in a remotely dry area, as in the air is dry.

@@Mr15905 In Republic City? Yes, lots of humid air. But in Kuvira and Korra's second fight, they are in computer room of a giant mecha with (presumably) its own air filtration system. The air inside the mecha will be dry so no air-based waterbending.

They literally said we're not sure Korra go one on one with other metal benders then proceeds to show sick Korra going against Kuvira. When she went one on one when she was healthy against Kuvira second time. Was able keep up with Kuvira metal bending by redirecting her attacks.

I mean you can think whatever you want about Kuvira, but we cant deny that her fighting style with the little metal stripes of her armor is really creative and effective. I think that technique for republic city police would be very useful. I think it would even be more effective than the metal wires they use, after all Lin can tell a story about how dangerous these cabels can become

Kuvira is better at metalbending but its a sub element. I dont think she was afraid of old Toph but obviously she knew it was wise to be cautious around someone that knows so much.

I do agree than in the initial fight Korra would’ve won but solely in metal bending i would rank her lower than Lin. The only reason Suyin couldn’t remove all the poison was Bc Korra’s body was bending it back in

Such simple logic. Kuvira easily has the best showings with Metal bending, then Sue yin, the toph or lyn. Korra after them probably. Toph might be a better bender over all then all of those characters minus korra and maybe Kuvira, but it’s clear that Sue Yin and Kuvira took metal bending to the next level, a level we never see from toph. Especially the things Kuvira does… she’s easily the most skilled metal bender.

my belief that korra easily lost to kuvira, besides her past trauma, she learned metal bending fairly recently and her being in the forest for months, there’s not exactly a lot of metal to bend

Huan is stronger than Guo? I think it takes a lot of strength to metalbend a dozen needles with that accuracy. Not to mention, he knows acupressure. Huan knows how to make bananas, that’s about it.

Toph is certainly the best earth bender there is but, I'm not sure about her being the best metal bender, we can take the same Kuvira as an example, Kuvira displayed much more combat abilities with metal bending than toph ever did, Toph might have invented it but that doesn't make her the best at it, Kuvira mainly uses Metal Bending, Toph stayed with Earth, I feel like compared to Kuvira, Toph really doesn't use metal bending's potential, don't get me wrong, I really like Toph, she's the whole reason why I like earth bending, but I feel like Kuvira, at least when it comes to combat with solely Metal bending surpasses Toph.

You can clearly see how Lin and the top metalbenders again utilise waterbending skill to better themselves. The fluid movement, treating metal as a liquid make them much more lethal, and agile, very different from the traditional stubborn and stand-you-ground earthbending.

Toph was known to Brag, and be arrogant about her own abilities, but when she said "I am the Greatest Earthbender in the world" she was correct. She invented metal bending, mastered it in a matter of weeks, mastered sand bending in a few months, used seismic sense as she breathed, and even matched King Bumi in earthbending power at age 10, even though Bumi is a 112 year old Grand master. Also adding that she beat both Korra and Aang, the 2 most powerful Avatars ever.

No. I agree that Toph is indeed a master metalbender however she is definitely not the best one. She is the creator of metalbending ,but, like Hama, she was eventually surpassed by others. Especially Kuvira. Kuvira shows precision, technique and great understanding of the art. She was even able to compete with Avatar Korra (the strongest Avatar yet) in the giant mechasuit. That is impressive. Further more, she was able to control a tower sized platinum mechasuit.

Kuvira is definetly better at metal bending. The inventor logic is poor,arts are passed down and refined,boxers of the 19th and early 20th centuries would get destroyed against todays boxers and even old athletes talk about how technically more impressive younger athletes are

First off Lin is definitely stronger than suyin, but suyin fought Lin with all her strength while Lin was using all the strength left in her due to her being weak before the fight. suyin lost to Kuvira and korra definitely shouldn’t be higher than Lin. Kuvira is a great fighter but korra had just as much strength and agility in season 1 but due to like three years of non stop trauma and barely healed from previous wounds she ofc lost. I bet if korra sticked to her first element (water) she would know how to bloodbend as her last hope and Kuvira would’ve been done up.

Во первых-лин слабее,и это всегда было видно. Суинь даже не напрягалась против нее. Более того,Лин сама признавала,что ее сестра сильнее. Во вторых-корра сильнее Лин. И суинь. И тоф. В третьих-если бы Корра изучила магию крови,то она не помогла бы против кувиры,так как тогда она была очевидно слабее,а магия крови работает только на более слабые цели

@@man_without_name Готов поклясться своими наушниками, что в шоу не было подобного признания от Лин. И Су так не напрягалась, что кинула со всей силы в Лин три огромных листа металла и убегала от её стены из земли. Я в принципе думаю что сёстры примерно равны по силе, исходя из их совместных драк с Красным Лотосом и армией Кувиры, хотя Су в некоторой степени более искусна в магии металла. И с чего Вы взяли, что магия крови действует на более слабых? Хама и Тарлок моги подчинять с её помощью гораздо более сильных противников чем они сами, поэтому Ваше утверждение немного странное.

@@user-sm1os2ll5q основной причиной боя Лин и суинь было то,что она сказала,что су впустую растрачивает свой талант. И в бою суинь показывала явную доминацию,а последующие серии только подтвердили ее превосходство,когда именно суинь достала из корры яд,пока Лин стояла в стороне. Хама и тарлок никогда не подчиняли тех,кто сильнее них. Если они кого-то подчинили,значит этот кто-то слабее них. Самый простой пример-катара игнорит магию крови хамы,но Аанг и сокка летают под ее влиянием. А освобождение от контроля аргументировано тем,что магия катары сильнее. Из чего мы делаем вывод,что раз на аанга работает магия крови,а на катару нет,то аанг слабее..

@@man_without_name Если Суинь так доминировала, то почему ни один ее удар не нанес Лин вреда? Она готова была держаться до конца невзирая на тяжелое физическое истощение. Признание потенциала Су не означает признание себя слабейшей, это не самое разумное утверждение. Тарлок применял магию крови на Тензине, который смог довольно долго держаться против всей команды Захира, Мако, Болине, Корре, Лин и Сайхане, по моему он явно не сильнее всех их. Также и Хама явно не сильнее всемогущего аватара Аанга, однако магия крови, являющаяся своего рода читерством, позволила ей победить его.А вот если выйдут на бой два мага крови, то тут уже талант и сила имеют значение, что мы и видим в бою Катары против Хамы и противостоянии Амона и Тарлока. Я уже говорил, что сам убежден в большей силе Су в магии металла, но это далеко не доминация, иначе бы она с легкостью в лоб одолела П'ли, почему же этого не произошло? В это же время Лин без проблем выдерживала атаки взрывной дамы даже не уворачиваясь, просто перепрыгивая через взрывы с помощью кабелей, а Су убегала от них. Сами создатели шоу сказали, что Суинь убрала яд из тела Корры из-за её более изящной магии в сравнении с Лин, которая больше похожа по стилю боя на классического мага земли, а стиль Су более тонкий и хореографичный, что и имеет решающее значение при такой требующей хирургической точности операции. Лин, выводящая яд из Корры, смотрелась бы неестественно при её стиле магии.

Reminds of the Katara vs Amon bending debate,took fanboys a while to realise Amon is better even at waterbending and stronger naturally by being able to bloodbend at day

@@diegoplaysroblox2332 if u rewatch the episode where P’li dies, the plan was to have Lin, Suyin, Kuvira, and some other metal benders save Korra after she turned herself over. Kuvira didn’t do anything and the Beifong sisters did all the fighting.

You know, personally, i think that toph could have bended platinium if she was in her prime and could have taught it to her daughters. I also think that she could also take kuvera if she was in her prime, toph would jave destroyed her.
