This is the video I didn't know I needed. thanks for the laughs! And... you and I both share the Sword of Shannara as a childhood reading and writing inspiration! It was the first brand new book I ever bought. Brand new. My Dad gave me my allowance early one month, when we were on a camping vacation in Oregon. We were going to Powell's in Portland that day... He was picking up the newest Robert Ludlum, and I was perusing the aisles. It was the early 80s. That very same cover of the Sword of Shannara painted by The Brothers Hildebrandt had my attention right away. And then the first several pages of the first chapter. I read it there in the store and read it the rest of the summer. My Dad was blown away I wanted a book "that big". I think I was 8 or 9. I feel like I should go back and read it now, in my 40's, so I can get all the nuances. Much of it was lost on me at the time, but I thoroughly enjoyed what I did, and I read it again before Christmas that year, because I wanted to be really fresh in case I got Elfstones under the tree... which I did! and promptly started reading after I unwrapped it. :) And forever cemented fantasy in my mind.

First off, I love your channel and I am working my way through all your videos. I thank you for all the awesome book suggestions as my TBR list has multiplied immensely. Now I need to know what your deal is with digital books. I mean how can you not want to have your entire library or any book in the world in the palm of your hand at any time you want. I also love audiobooks but I personally can see the case against them far easier than digital. In fact I am thinking of starting a channel showing off my digital library and all my digitally signed ebooks. I have not actually read your books yet, but I am looking forward to digitally reading them as I listen to them on audible. Then all I will need is your digital signature...

What is your secret to buying hard to find books for example Malazan books are very hard to find and extremely expensive when you do. Just read Boy's Life on your review and it is now on my all time faves list. Thanks again for your channel I look forward to all your content.

Maybe some of us are poor and find Kindle books cheaper. We can't all be famous writers who make the big bucks. 🤪

Before, I had an awesome private library with physical books. Probably spend thousands on it. Then something happened in my life, and I lost... everything. Now, I've rebuild it all, but with free ebooks. I already bought those books in the past, most of them. It's also convenient when you're disabled: lighter, easier on the eyes. I still miss my books dearly, but the convenience just can't be ignored.
@alvinmarcus57802 жыл бұрын
@@ChristmasLore I agree. Just wish I was in a place to have all paper books. Kindle has it's place but nothing is as good as a real physical book. And I'll bet you agree. We book lovers and pretty much the same . ❤️📚

Yes, I believe Tim Powers wanted to sue over the earlier pirates of the caribbean movies, but then they bought rights and adapted his book and he was happy. Best friendship in movies: Tom Hanks and the soccer ball in Castaway.

@@mikesbookreviews If you're gonna play in the public arena you need to shed that thin skin and grow some rawhide. You censored me for pointing out 17 updates and other non-content per 3 book reviews in a single month. That was the truth, not being shitty. You shouldn't've let palaver chap your tender pink bottom in the same post because far far better men than you mispronounce words all the time: Quentin Tarantino can't say supercilious correctly, nor Truman Capote posthumous, and Moid's one of the few people on the internet who pronounces noir correctly. Have a great weekend with me living rent free in your head.

Your unusual reading habit is, for instance, driving 40 miles to the top of a mountain so that you can read on a park bench with a view of the mountain valley.
