Thanks... sure wish Rapido supported customers who opt for sound installation though... no instructions, nothing. Anyways, good enough is good enough.

Loksound do have a cab car sound file you have to go on the factory equipped sound file section and they have the sound file for a cab car. Is for a New Jersey transit but I use on my AMT cab car

Loksound Select. No official V5 cab car sound yet although I have made a custom sound project for the Rapido Bilevels

I used 4 thin strips of styrene instead of business cards, the chassis almost fell out it was so easy.

Sure wish Rapido would have released a sound-equipped model right from the factory... all that extra work/expense didn't help with customer relations. I hope they learned some lessons from this blunder and they'll release future models worthy of the Rapido label, unlike the Turbo 1.0, the RS18, the F59PH.

That was the same excuse when I sent them my F59Ph, they didnt have the part or the paint ! Imagine a car dealership like that !!!

BIG reason I can't do pre-orders with Rapido... you might get a lemon. Best to see it before you buy it, even if paying a premium compared to an 'early buy' pre-order price.

Nice job, Also I noticed you gave the cab car an E-bell despite the model having a mechanical bell

Truly, honestly, I just fumbled my way through using the LokProgrammer and uploading sounds. The user interface is far from user-friendly for guys who barely understand technical jargon. Then, I'm lucky if I use my Lokprogammer once every 6 months... just no need to once a loco is programmed. While not 'perfect', it's good enough. I just wanted a sound-equipped cab car. Too bad Rapido failed in getting me a windshield wiper for the car. I emailed them several times... they ignore me now and I'm forced to engineer my own.

Did you consider using the ESU 58219 fx decoder? It works out to be about $50 cheaper than the ESU 58429 and you don't need the motor control in the cab car.
@chrisdaniell2990 Жыл бұрын
Didn't know about that, thanks. However, wouldn't have made a difference as what they carry in stock at my local shop is limited.
@CentralJerseyRailfan Жыл бұрын
@@chrisdaniell2990 You definitely have the option to put the 58429 into a motor equipped unit after buying the FX

Mine are still in boxes, summer is not model railroading time. All this work for the Cab car, is it worth it operations wise. I am leery of how well these cars will run at speed when being pushed? Have you had any issues pushing 3 cars or more around the layout at proto speeds?
@chrisdaniell2990 Жыл бұрын
Oddly enough, these manufacturers continuously pump out product, no matter the season.... so, any time is train time. I haven't had the opportunity to use the cab car as lead b/c of track work (ballasting).

@@chrisdaniell2990 I’ll probably start up again in October after pool is closed and all the outdoors are battened down for the winter. My track work is pretty good but I don’t foresee a push around the layout at speed going well. Corners are min 28” and all turnouts on main are peco medium or large radius.

@@chrisdaniell2990 I buy stuff in the summer but it just sits in the box until Fall.
