Cross trainees have to go to prep also. I recommend getting comfortable in the pool.

It’s not uncommon but we have a lot of resources available now than before to help prevent injuries.

High intensity, obviously. Might wanna have common sense if you’re joining our armed forces.

Train for the PAST test. If you can exceed the standards of the past test and ruck 4 miles in under an hour (ideally 50 mins or less) you will be well prepared for whatever they throw at you.

100 push ups 100 sit ups 10km run then 100 squats Every day. Keep off the A/C in the summer, and keep off the heater in the winter to strengthen the mind.

Simply do not work out at all. Show up on day one with absolute confidence and the cadre will respect you for being so bold

I did body weight primarily. But I did include some strength training with an emphasis on maintaining durability instead of power to avoid injury. The main objective is to conquer the PAST and be good at rucking.

As of right now, TACP go through swic first then straight to the schoolhouse. This is subject to change though because they have been discussing A&S tor TACPs for a few years now.

I’ve heard the same thing from a lot of people. I guess I’m about to find out soon enough…

The weekends are yours in swcc but you have to remain on the compound for the entire 8 weeks. Once you get to the schoolhouse though you can leave base on your off time. You will also get plenty of rest with the exception of etd’s and field weeks. The smallest guy we had was 150 lbs but I’ve heard of dudes smaller than that making it through.

Pretty often, you will all go to swic together for 8 weeks before you go to the TACP schoolhouse. From there they live close by but have their own training pipeline.

One more question. After the SW prep, is there a TACP "selection"? Can you be dropped before you begin? Also do you have any ideas how old the oldest person you went through was? I am 36, the legal cutoff is 39.

@@Robert-vv6qp I know of some individuals in their 40s who made it through. As far as selection goes there is currently no selection established in the TACP pipeline. However, there has been discussion of implementing one for a few years now so it may become a reality for you.

I first joined in 2009 to be a SERE instructor. I found out about TACP after getting washed out at SERE indoc and tried to go to the schoolhouse immediately after. Things didn’t workout and I became a cop for a little over a decade. I finally began cross training last year and finally made it happen. If my recruiter had first told me about tacp before I got in, it would definitely have been my first choice. Things didn’t turn out that way but at the end of the day I finally got what I wanted after years of preparing myself.
