Your spray technique is exceptional. I can always tell how well it will turn out by the way people move the can. Nice job. I think ill try it on mine.

I have a 17 F150 with aftermarket bumpers. Live in northern Michigan so stone chips and salt from sanding the roads in the winter are major problems. After 1 winter my front bumper was peppered with little chips and rust spots in the powder coat. So last summer I called around and Line X and rhino lining wanted big bucks to shoot the bumpers so I decided to do it my self. Took time to really sand and prep everything well and did 3 coats. It worked amazing not a single chip or spot of rust from this winter. I used the 2X rattle cans to do the top of my tool box along the pulls I guess you’d call them on the drawers. The box is bright green combine with the black looks sick and now I don’t have to worry about the top getting scratched up. The rattle cans are a bit expensive but great for smaller jobs.

Thanks! You're welcome! I know my friend busted a couple of the clips holding the flares on, but other than that it was pretty straightforward and made the damaged paint look much better. This stuff is super easy to use, I definitely recommend it.

May be a dumb question: I have my fender flares off and ready to spray with bedliner; would it be ok to spray liner first, THEN place new trim on?
@skookum_scrigr
@skookum_scrigr Жыл бұрын
You mean that trim that runs on the outside of the flares? If so I would probably try to tape off wherever it attaches to and then spray it. Then put that trim on. I’m not sure how it attaches to the flares but otherwise the bedliner might be in the way of however it attaches.

I did this but the raptor liner came out flaky AF. Sanded, primed, cleaned and prepped. Idk why it did that?
@skookum_scrigr
@skookum_scrigr 2 жыл бұрын
Mine is flaking off in spots in my truck bed too, but it's usually from something metal scraping it at least. I'm wondering if I should have sanded it with a much lower grit sandpaper. As for the flares, I dunno! I think these flares are still holding up fine. Maybe the primer reacted with the liner?

Hey man what were the drying times for that stuff like? TIA
@skookum_scrigr
@skookum_scrigr 3 жыл бұрын
I believe it dried to the touch on my truck's bed within an hour or two. But I think I read that it takes like a week to fully cure. I sprayed these flares right before I got ready for bed so they were definitely dry to the touch after I got home from work the next day.

How does this hold up going through a automatic car wash or anything of the sorts? I wanna do this to the fender flares I bought for my 4Runner.
@skookum_scrigr
@skookum_scrigr 2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if my friend has gone through one of those but I would imagine it'd hold up pretty well. These flares still look good. It's started chipping off of my truck bed but I think I only scuffed with 400 grit. Next time I'd go lower grit, at least on a truck bed, for better mechanical adhesion. I doubt the scratches would come through, but I'm no expert.

Thanks! I just saw my buddy recently who owns the truck and it still looks like I just sprayed it. If you weren’t aware, you can change the texture by changing the pressure you’re spraying at. 🤘

Quick question why didn't you spray some primer on it ?
@skookum_scrigr
@skookum_scrigr 3 жыл бұрын
I figured the mechanical adhesion from the sanding plus the adhesion promoter would be plenty. But I'm just some dude who doesn't really know what he's doing so I could definitely be wrong 🤣 so far it's holding up well though.

How has this held up over time? Just one coat?
@skookum_scrigr
@skookum_scrigr 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I did one coat and then touched up some spots. It's held up well so far! Still looks like it did when my friend first installed the flares back on his truck.
