Time to make the truck a little more aggressive! In today's video I get to install a part I have never done before! Adding some new fender flares to the tacoma that I bought from Amazon!! These are about 1/4 the cost of a name brand company like Bushwacker, but they don't look any different to me aside from some cosmetic differences and the hardware used. With all the matte colors I have on the truck, plastidipping them definitely matched and I think they came out really good! Now all I need to do is change out the wheels/tires for something a bit more aggressive and I should have a pretty good stance! The installation is pretty straight forward, if you didn't plan on painting them, it makes it a much easier "plug and play" just swapping them out. I also decided to fix some of the vinyl wrap on the bed which took a little bit more time. But aside from the changes that I made, it's very easy and can be knocked out with basic tools!

Just know that you need to buy some clear PPF to put a strip between the flare and the paint, it will help to project the paint of your truck!!

overall not a fan of the new fender flares, but mainly because I don't like the look of all the "bolts" along the outside of it. I wish they were smooth like the stock ones. Plastidipping helps I support

Yea I can see that, most of the ones I've seen have the 'bolts', I've seen very few of the pocket style that are smooth.

They should hopefully hold up well! The rear bumper caps I plastidipped about 1 year ago and have zero issues with them, so these should do fine, but if anything happens I'll make an update on them.

Bros FOURR Speed You’re the man! Love the look of these ones too, plus for the price it’s honestly hard to go wrong. Even if I don’t plastidip them and after a year or so they fade, I could buy a new set every few years for the life of the truck and still not spend as much as I would on genuine bushwhacked.

Thanks for the install video. Helps alot. Quick question though bro. The one i got off of amazon has a 3M double sided tape on the top back portion of the inside of the flares. It’s underneath the lip where you applied the weather strip. Did yours come with the 3M tape too?what would be the purpose of that?thanks in advance.

Nice work. Appreciated. Can tell you’re about the quality. Even if you went back to the stock fender flares, all good. Wouldn’t have known if ya didn’t try. I’m likely going to Plastidip my paint-matched stock flares. A cheap and great improvement to make. Cheers.

I like the look...I had thought that you were going to need to drill holes in the body but I guess it is all held on by the one center bracket (unless the video skipped that part).

Honestly I wasn't a huge fan of these flares and had them on the truck for a bit, went back to the stock flares and poked out the tire some, looks so much better!

So I just purchased these flares after seeing how they look in this video but I wanted to get your take on being able to add rear mud flaps; I just upgraded my rims and tires however it seems they’re kicking up a lot of stuff near my black-coated exhaust tip! Do you see it as a possibility given you’ve worked with these flares? Appreciate the help!

Thanks for the support! You would have to modify the flare or the mudflap for it to work. Most of the time aftermarket flares are not compatible with flaps. Shouldn't bee too difficult tho

I really like this look!!!!! Your truck is way cool. I bought a new 2019 Tacoma Access Cab SR 4X4 in January 2019. I had to go with the SR version due to money limitations. However, I really love this truck in 4X4 and it has a long bed 6 foot. Since my truck did not come with any form of Fender Flairs, I'm looking at maybe a set like you purchased. It appears this video is about a year old. Is there any way you could provide me with your satisfaction of this modification. It would help me so much. I did subscribe to your channel today and provided a "like" for this video. I look forward to other modifications. All my life (I'm 59 years old) I have loved Toyota Trucks. The year I graduated High School, 1979, Toyota released in the USA it's first Toyota Truck in 4X4. I stopped by my local dealership just to look at it. The funny thing was back then a brand new 4X4 truck cost $7,999.00! That was a lot of money in 1979. More than I could afford out of High School. Anyway, thanks for the video.

Congrats on the purchase! It has been a fun truck and you will love it for sure!! I actually just took these off the truck and recently put my stock ones back on! These was were ok, but very bulky looking in my opinion, they were fun to have on for awhile, but there were gaps between them and the paint due to the material and not being completely custom made for the truck. Other brands were around $400-500 which I didn't want to spend, but these were nice for the price. Thanks for watching and subbing!!

I'm finally upgrading from 2010 Tacoma to a 2021 TRD Off Road. Wondering if current flares would fit... Plus did you use any sealant on the top of the new flares? Or do the fasteners hold it tight in place?

Oh nice, you'll love the upgrade! I didn't use anything for the top of these ones, just the stock bolt locations underneath. So there is a slight gap, and that's just from the mold of these not being exactly perfect. I paid about $100 so you get what you pay for, compared to the others that are about $400. I'll be putting my stock ones back on I think.

I haven't had any issues with it, aside from my tires rubbing a little bit and taking some off, it won't come off other than that.

i have been asking around to the Taco owners about Fender Flares, Now, I get it if you have 33 or big tires, those flairs look decent but I can't see to find one similar to the stock model because I only have 265 -65R 17 tires. I plastic dipped the flares but it gave me a better perspective on the color of black instead of white, and wanted to try to go ahead and replace the white one to black. Can you offer any suggestions on where to locate a pair of black ones, I have sent an email to one company on there product. I don't think without bigger tires any kind would look good , it would just look out of place or dis proportioned.

I just got those fender flairs👌🏼I have the same aftermarket headlights as well they look awesome but the downside is that the low beam out put is absolutely terrible. Did you replace the H7 bulb?

Hello, Like to video very much great job. I have a Tacoma SR which comes with no flares at all like the SR5 and would like to add fender flares like these as well, I watched the section several time for the front drivers installation. If I am seeing this correctly you are not using the old fender flare clips at all, is this correct? All that this flare is mounting to is the supplied bracket and several other OEM location screws. Since this video is so close to two years old do they still look good? Have you had any issues with them? Do you have a suggested retailer you purchase from with a discount code? Are there any issues at all during installation that you can remember? Thanks in advance...

These flares still used some of the factory holes to attach. The main bracket though, was the large piece I showed connecting the middle of the fender to the truck. But not all of the clips lined up. I took these off a long time ago, because they were just too bulky and I figured for the price I would try them out, but honestly never liked them. Back to the stock flares right now. I don't have any retailers to suggest to you, these were the cheapest ones I could find, and the install is pretty easy and straight forward!

This is an awesome video. Aside from that the volume needs to be adjusted. I had to ride the volume button constantly. I had to turn up the volume when you speak and turn the volume down when the music comes back on again. Again great video!

I have 2017 offroad tacoma crazy thing is you can not remove the inner wheel well mud flap liner till the outside trim is taken off first being there are flat fender pins that hold the liner on that the outside trim lip edge covers them all.

It should! I believe the body style is the same, just make sure up underneath you have the bolt holes for them to line up! Also note, put ppf underneath so these flares don't dig into the paint!

I would use plastidip! This coating was already, but I recoated my factory flares with black plastidip and they look better than before!

I’ve used plastidip and have had great and long lasting results, but the flares are usually a longterm installment. Why did you prefer dip over a flat black paint while the flare was removed. The dip looks amazing in your truck but off-roading and constant washing rubs it off. Any updates with your truck on your flares?

Plastidip was so much easier on the plastic than paint would have been! I had no issues with it coming off or pealing. I hand wash my truck so I could control the pressure on the flares and still nothing! I have since gone back to the stock flares because these were just too bulky. I never really liked them and didn't know they'd be this bulky.

That's a good point that I never thought about, but I don't think the fitment would be as good. It might be possible, but most likely the stocks would have to come off.

I currently have 1.25'' spacers and my tires are 305/70/17 (34 x12.5), no rubbing either!

Listen to me bro! I bought the same fender flares last December and that weather strip they give you doesn’t have the adhesive on it. I took mine off in June and because there was no adhesive dirt and grit got in between the flare and paint and totally ruined my paint. Some down to the metal some I could buff out. I’m telling you this to warn you. I have the Trd sport in the same color so I had a choice to make so I ordered wider wheels and I’m going to put double sided tape on them so it doesn’t happen again.

Clean microfiber cloth and goo gone. Be rental with it.

Do these do much for mud/debris? The stock ones do almost nothing to protect the side of the truck.

I would say they do a good job at that, I recently put the stock ones back on and have more stuff on the side, so these did work, just know they are cheap feeling if you go with them.

Any help for one of us rare non flared tacoma owners i want flares bad thats all I need to complete my look but I'm struggling to find kits for non flared tacomas

Hmm, is it a newer tacoma? I haven't seen many without them that's for sure. Check if under the wheel well it has the bolt holes for them and you should be able to easily put them on, but I'm not 100% on that.

I ended up putting the stock flares back on, these ones were just too bulky looking for the truck and I didn't like them after awhile!

I just got these fenders aswell....how many cans of plasty-dip did ya end up using bud?...I see ya had 3 cans to start...thanx 4yur time.

Does the Plasti-dip hold up to debris flying up from the tires?

Yea, I don't have any issues with that, even the plasti-dip on the rear bumper has held up and that's been on for at least 1 year now. 3 or 4 coats usually gives it a good layer that can also be peeled off too.

Yup! Some fender flares are actually riveted in place. But most are fakes.

Will these work with a non-TDR Tacoma 2020? I bought the basic model truck and am trying to upgrade it.

I believe they should! I actually went back to my stock flares, these seemed too bulky, but it should work as long as you have the holes lining the inner fender to attach them.

@@princemehrok4910 Those might be hard to find for sure..if you do use these flares, I ended up putting clear PPF underneath so it didn't damage the paint, I had that issue starting to happen.

For the fenders? It came with them, but you can find trim accents online or at auto stores!

Just curious, I clicked the fender flare link and when I tried to check the figment, it says it won’t fit. You have a 2018 correct?

I have a 2017, but they should be the exact same. Do you have the long bed? I have seen that they say those are different as well so I'm not sure why it says that.

Bros FOURR Speed they probably just have it so it says it specifically fits the 2017. But yea I’m pretty sure they are the exact same thing

After installing them, I wasn't a huge fan either! Pretty bulky compared to what I was envisioning! I put the stocks back on and painted those to match a little better! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ptyboLGVxJbJnHU.html

I actually had to put them back on for now, so still debating on whether to put these ones back on or not. I feel like the stocks would be easy to find, so that's weird you can't find any.

@@BrosFOURRSpeed Ah, I see, cool. Yeah, you'd be surprised, NOWHERE has the stock ones right now! Can't even get them from the dealership. I do have a question though, the reason why I'm looking for stock ones is because I have a TRD Sport where the fenders are color keyed to be the same paint as the truck. I wanted stock ones that are unpainted to put on so that it can look like a TRD Pro or Offroad. Since I can't find them right now, do you think if I took mine off and just put that Plastidip stuff right on top of it, would that work?
