This is the song played during the ending credits of Arthur C Clarke's "Fractals : The Colors Of Infinity." The soundtrack to the documentary was done by David Gilmour.

I could never understand why Gilmour's work on this documentary wasn't released. It's some good work. Very Floydy. The documentary itself is fabulous, too, by the way. That's if you're interested in the nature of infinity and psychedelic fractals. I like that kind of stuff... I like David Gilmour. Win!

***** Psychedelic, yes. Space, no. :D

+degree7 Pink Floyd themselves hated the space rock tag and saw it as a millstone around their collective necks - not that that them stopped jamming "Moonhead", which was transmitted live by the BBC as Neil Armstrong was setting foot on the Moon!

@@Joeskintthat is not true. Wywh is their (Gilmour and Wright) favorite album. When they made Meddle, Gilmour said that they loved the atmosferical, ageless, timeless, spacious tracks (without sounding esoteric). Here in "barn jams" about the last track of the video, Nick talks about how it makes him happy to realize that they still have that connection to create Pink Floyd's particular style (space rock). The main proof is that everyone has continued making it: keep talking, some things in amused od, and obviously, the endless river.

I think they didn't release this material because it was only made by Gilmour under the band's name. It's part of the very early era of Division Bell material. Then Nick and Rick (who were not involved in A Momentary L.) joined and one can assume that it was easy and logical for Gilmour to abandon the material he had made.

I have the documentary on DVD. The last 20 minutes contains 4 instrumentals by Gilmour. Worth having for these tracks alone.

+Frank Jensen Do you have he DVD with the extra material with only music?
@MIB_638 жыл бұрын
The DVD I have contains the extra material with 20 minutes of music, titled "Infinit". It consists of 4 untitled, instrumental Gilmour tracks. Cool psychedelic, 'Floydian' music. Sadly it has never been released on CD.

This sounds very like the track "Sum" from the "new" Pink Floyd album, The Endless River. I wonder how long these tracks have been around. :-)

Ugo1970 if the quality of the sound was better, I would've thought it was 'Sum'! But the Endless River is an album that would revisit all musical stages Pink Floyd went through... as a sort of goodbye. But I have to agree, it sounds pretty much the same
