Parrot fishes look amazing! They're actually very useful and needed in the sea ecosystems cuz they help coral reefs. Best to not over fish them or to release them upon catching.

cant really release a fish once it's speared... it the first once i've ever taken for food and there many of them here so i could do it every day but prefer to eat other fish

@@TheFrenchmanCooks You do know parrot fishes are endangered species and is banned for hunting in many countries. Even if it is not banned in that very place, it is a goddamn endangered species! And fishing for fun, in general, is also unethical. No one should kill and eat some creature, unless it is a question of life and death for themselves.

@@instedits. the vast majority of parrotfish species are categorized by the IUCN as of least concern. there are two endangered species of parrotfish, and some places where the threat of localized extinction is a real possibility, but there's nothing wrong with fishing most parrotfish species in the scaridae family/scarinae subfamily even to a layman like myself, doing less than three minutes of research, it's painfully apparent that you don't know what you're talking about.

This literally looks like haven to me. Goodness I miss the sea... I was a scuba diver an a used to go spear fishing, an would hunt sea urchins an lion fish an sell em. An used to night hunt lobster with my Dad. But with my chronic illness I can no longer go swimming. I feel like a wild animal that's been thrown onto a cage.

Here are some considerations to this video!! When you cut open the coconut you need to keep it pointy in the end.. so you dont waste the water. Parrotfish are very important for the reef. They remove the algae from the reef and enhance coral growth. Its absolutly vital for the ecosystem. Plus it has the taste of salty rock when you consume like this. Not the best fish to hunt. How I know this? I am from the Maldives. Cheers

The parrotfish ban is not a 'one size fits all' approach. “The bumphead parrotfish, Bolbometopon muricatum is listed as Vulnerable in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. Fishermen are aware they are not allowed to catch and/or sell this species.

@@danbogart7 ahhh I’m sorry to hear that. I’m not scared due to a trauma, I just get creeped tf out. I had a dream last night where I was super deep, swimming doing something that I don’t even remember and I wa scared, and tried resurfacing but I was so deep, so I was floating up to the top for SOOOOO LONG just anticipating the surface. Scary stuff.

3:05 Feels fuckin bad.Head carved off without friction or leverage hence the ocean. Made it much more painful than it needed to be, let alone the near eye shot with the spear gun. As an Australian who doesn't eat fish, and hence barrier reef etc. Could never kill a beautiful fish like that let alone one at all. Same cant be said about meat, although my balls are non existent when it comes to slaughter.
