@@KevinETaylor I am a fan of both jazz and R&B, so I loved it when Natalie presented both in a concert that I attended in the late '90s. She was such a consummate artist in both genres. In that concert, she shared the bill with George Benson, another great jazz and R&B artist.

LOVE THIS! Thank you for all you do. I've only heard their studio version singing this - you can find it on KZfaq. However, I am confused about why people are taking shots at Patti or making competitive comparisons between her and Natalie. If you are a fan of Natalie, don't reveal your insecurities by taking shots at Patti! It's silly! THESE ARE LEGENDS! Both are masterful, powerful, and sopranos! Also, we must address the misogynoir in the "loud black woman" trope thrown as a detriment and an oversimplification of Black women artists. Patti LaBelle is not JUST loud. Those with a proper musical ear or an understanding of the voice will note the vocal complexities, the intricate note choice, and the amount of nuance it takes to sing how she sings. Natalie's voice has a more slender texture, powerful ping, excellent resonance, emotional tonality, and gorgeous range! Patti's voice is heftier in nature, with a metallic texture, penatrating power and drama. Both have a twang like no other, breath support for days, and the IT factor; thus should be completely RESPECTED.

I am so glad they posted this! I was there that night at the Universal Amphitheater in 1992. It was one of the best shows I have ever seen; a true labor of love by some of the best talents in the world performing that night. They performed the music of West Side Story to raise money to help fight Aids. They had the best A Team musicians backing: Elton John, Lyle Lovett, Barbra Striesand, Johnny Mathis, Eddie Van Halen, Kenny Loggins, Winona Judd, Steve Vai and many more. They later were able to go back in the studio with many of the same performers to make a studio recording. To this day it is one of my favorite CD's.

Patti LaBelle and the Bluebelles Labelle Patti LaBelle Her career spans 60 years!!! If she did not have versatility she wouldn't have made it this long in the industry. People should stop being lazy and do your homework before speaking (it won't be done). Her longevity speaks for itself. BRAVA Patti LaBelle!!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Natalie's voice became a lil pitchy at times after her drug use. Early 70s she was a beast but she would battle anyone. I still think the best duo between two powerful voices is Natalie and Whitney "I Say A Little Prayer For You" They weren't trying to blow each other ears off or who can be the loudest. They really complimented each other on that duet not a Mayweather and Oscar De La Hoya fight 😂

I love Sheila E's talent. She is the greatest female drummer ever. Patti is magnificent, but I think she's at her best just being Patti. I don't think you passed English literature. You don't think she acquits herself to different musical styles??? Maybe you don't think she acclimates herself to other music genre's well enough for you. She's sung just about every genre of music and done a great job doing so. You're entitled to your opinion. Some of us disagree with you.
@nycp1969
@nycp1969 9 ай бұрын
@@victorlatimer1009 Having an opinion you don't agree with doesn't mean I used the word wrong. Not to school you, but since you tried to do so to me, check out a dictionary or maybe just read and write more. Acquit means act at an appropriate level or demonstrate a certain proficiency. I don't think Patti's vocal style is very convincing in styles outside of R&B. On the other hand, I think she's one of the best at R&B. It's just my opinion. Maybe someone doesn't think Sheila E. is a good drummer. What does it matter? Why criticize someone engaging in totally civil discourse? And by the way, not only did I pass English literature, I have a degree in French literature.
