I remember Ras Daniel Heartman as Pedro in The Harder They Come! I liked his character in the movie and I never knew that that was one of his sons in the movie also. He had some great artwork and I wish I had a shirt with some of his art on it. Awesome interview with his son. I have learned a little more about him. Thanks!

I was just searching for something to watch or listen to and I saw your picture and I was like WOW. I purchased two pictures years ago from this lady that have a leather shop in East Hartford, Ct. A little boy and a little girl. I had the pictures rolled up for years. So one day I said let me hang up my pictures, so I did and everyone just loves the pictures. My Grandkids Father want the picture of you because he said that the picture looks just like him when he was little. A few months ago I went back to her shop to get my pocket book fixed and she had more of the same pictures. So she started to tell me the history of the pictures. That your Father drew the pictures, and that y'all are Brother and Sister. She is also from Jamaica, and that she knew your Father. So I couldn't get home fast enough to tell my Family that these are real people, they are Brother and Sister. So I have some History in my house. Now my Grandkids Father really want the picture. Thanks

I can co"-sign on this. I came to America in 1974 and the "Rasta Baby" and other art work seen in this was everywhere in the 1980's. I always wonder if he got compensated for all this.

My Pops back in Trinidad used to have the Rasta Baby on his wall, even though he was quite conservative. That is how he expressed his blackness.

Hey I found an incredible original drawing by Ras Daniel today that an older gentleman was getting rid of. Its a self portrait that he drew sometime in the 70s. I been looking online and I haven't seen this image anywhere. I dont think it was ever reproduced for prints or shirts, etc. If you want to see it just go on instagram and type in #rasdanielheartman and it will show up or just look on ig: miamiwax. What an incredible artist! When you look close at the drawing you can see the meticulous detail he put into his work. Thank you for sharing his story!
