matthewsinist3r You clearly haven't listened to much of Ras Kass then. Kendrick has skill in a lyrically wack era. Ras was rated one of the best in the best lyrical ever hip hop has seen.

this era is just as lyrical as the last. i dont think you search hard enough for good hip hop. there are tons of rappers now who are just as talented as the rappers from the past.

If they were truly as good, I wouldn't have to search hard for them, people on the street would be talking about them. No one in this era is doing anything truly unique or original. Yes, some of them do have skills but their songs, flows, rhyme schemes, etc are either rehashes from the past or copying whoever is popular. It's hard to tell one artist from the next these days. I could run down a list of completely innovative artists and lyrical titans from the past that would outlast this entire era 3-4 times over.

dude you know music is just a repition of harmonies, melodies, and time signatures executed in different ways. You also know we are in generation where skill and artistic originality are not appreciated, so GOOD artists wont he represented in the mainstream. you could also argue that hip hop within itself is just a copy of other genres and repition of figuritive language used by others whove already existed. this isnt the 90s dude, in the millenial era if you want to find quality you search for it. but let us just agree to disagree. this topic is subjective
