Terrific mini-doco of this small pond in a town. It's surprising the wildlife you can see in these urban oases. Great piece of editing and presentation too, it was a pleasure to watch. Thanks for sharing. Kind regards Doug.

Thanks so much Doug, Not what I was expecting to film, but sometimes the unexpected ones are the good ones!

Superb film. I have a sequence in a film I show out and about with a Brown Rat in it and surprisingly it gets a better than expected reception! Think possibly because it's a rural rat. Though the penchant for disliking intelligent wildlife is rife. In a dystopian world I'd want to be a Rat ;) Excellent Ian, Si.

Thanks Si, I like rats as long as they stay out of my house, I could also do without the suicidal ones on the river path I cycle on. I filmed some rats not so long ago close to home and had two people pass by both commenting on them being 'cute' and nobody seemed that bothered by them, just part of London life!

That shot where the rat ran into the camera was a pretty good one. I've noticed that animals tend to make their best appearnaces when the observer does not have a camera.

Agree. If you can make rats look good in a mini-docu, you're doing something right.

How well will the ducks breed ? Ducklings are easy prey for rats
@IanPhillipsWildlife2 жыл бұрын
The Ducks tend to nest on the island, if the rats venture on to the island the local Grey heron will eat them, but the heron has also been known to eat the ducklings.
@mike024392 жыл бұрын
@@IanPhillipsWildlife I agree . Many mallard breed on a river near my house . A heron regularly eats ducklings as do herring gulls
