Part 1 of my mini-series Rattrospective. I get into the history of the band, stories from the time period, discuss vinyl pressings, and also give my two cents about each album.
Part 1 discusses the classic Ratt self titled EP along with their struggles that accompany the recording of this first official classic Ratt line-up album.
Part 2 I discuss Out of the Cellar, the era, and crazy stories.
Be sure to subscribe and like this video if you enjoy and also check out some of my other videos for all things 80's, metal, cats and more.

This video is strictly to spread the word of Ratt and to support Ratt N' Roll. I in no way monetize anything based on the art by the musicians. I'm just a huge Ratt fan.

RATT had great hooks and catchy melodies. People forget how huge they really were. Kinda shocked they can't pull off a arena tour with the 4 of the 5 main guys. Robin RIP. One of the coolest rockers ever.

It is shocking the band isn't bigger, but I suppose the constant infighting, lineup changes, etc have held them back, not to mention they don't seem to know how to promote themselves!. You would think they'd be on the Motley stadium tour as they (at one point) were tight with the band and it's irrelevant now (unfortunately) but Nikki and Robbin were really tight, at least back in the 80's until Robin's addiction pretty much put an end to that relationship accord to what's stated in Motley's book "The Dirt!"...

I was a huge fan of ep, out of the cellar and invasion. Eventually all songs just started sounding the same, like one long continuous song on each album. Pretty sure Beau Hill producing all albums for awhile played a role in this issue for me. (Way Cool Jr. was a refreshing departure from the "songs sound same" issue I had)
@MaskedManiacReviews
@MaskedManiacReviews 3 жыл бұрын
I think it was mix of Hill, the time constraints of the label pushing them to pump out albums, and Robbin's slowly diminishing writing role based on his drug abuse. It's sad to me because the talent that band could have tapped into was so unrealized.

@@brainiacpoststudios5479 Oh I know. Robbin liked a lot of the heavier stuff and wanted the band to go that direction, but Robbin also is a man of the 70's and loved ZZ Top. John Turner took over from Eisenberg within a years time around 1977. I dont know the exact amount of time he spent in the band, but there's not much to tell about his story being a member of Mickey Ratt. He's on a few tracks on The Garage Tape Dayz 78-81 compilation album of Mickey Ratt demos recorded between 1976 and 1981. Eisenberg went on to become a member of an early line-up of Keel under the name Bobby Marks and played only during 1984 with them. That's about all there is to tell about him.

Ive heard this before, but Robbin also knew Warren since Warren was in 9th grade and in Stephens book I didn't see the mention of Jake saying you should get him. I really dug around for that story and honestly it was difficult to get anything really solid on that. The only thing I knew was Jake they were roommates at one point and warren slept on Jakes couch for a few months and taught him the songs. Im sure you're right he recommended him, but I just always wondered if that was the tipping point for Ratt to get warren since robbin already knew who he was. They had some great hits, and albums. Unfortunately drugs, dysfunction amongst the band, and a changing music landscape lead to a very short shelf life. It’s too bad, because they could have been doing arena tours with Motley Crüe, and the likes of them if they got their shit together. Instead, it’s just some cover band with Stephen Pearcy on vocals playing fairgrounds.

Believe it or not, I saw ratt in `85 w/none other than bon jovi opening,I kid you not?! It was both group's sophomore albums,ratt was huge already,BJ was on their way,OK? Now I liked the 1st 2 BJ LPS, sum of slippery when wet/new jersey were good,but after that,they just became super-duper commercial,whereas ratt stuck 2 their glam-metal guns,they were true originals,not copycats! Pearcy was into Duran Duran,so was I,he even covered girls on film,of which I need 2 cop? So he runs into Simon LeBon one day,and got dissed,what a ****(still dig `em,but that was uncalled for)? A lot of so-called alternative folks have problems w/classic/hard rock/metal in general,believing that it's demoralizing/sexist,it's no more pig-headed than any other genre,it's all in one's perspective,see? I/4/1 am super-duper progressive,loving all forms of beautiful musique,especially prog/metal,but whatever's clever,YO! Actually I had a 1st pressing of the ratt ep,but an ex-girlfriend got it from me,haven't seen an original copy since then(also saw live like @ suicide ep in a store,didn't even bother 2 cop it,then a year or so later,AFD came out,who knew that they'd 1 of the biggest bands in the world,along w/metallica)?!?!?! SP said that there will be a re-release of the classic ep,can't wait 2 cop another copy! There's a 5-cd boxset of the 1st 5 with the classic lineup,need 2 cop that as well, what the h3ll? About 2 jump off into part 2 of the RATTrospective,nice work,cheers baby! RATT`n`ROLL \m/

@@nc3836 if you go to his KZfaq you read each video he mentions what hes using on each instrumental. Hes clearly using some kind of programmable drum machine and then dubbing over with 2 guitar tracks. Its all one dude. Its not Ratt. I can tell by the guitar work that it's not Warren haha. The guy is good though so I thought I'd give him some love and use his covers

I heard this was a thing. Sometimes the band sucked live. I saw them in 2019 and they sounded good. Guess it also depended on how many joints they smoked and how many beers they drank im Sure.
