The WWI machine gun is called 08/15, which survived as a German expression for run-of-the-mill, because it was so widespread.

Love that those trucks have that WW1 "at one point it was legit a boat/train" kind of look to it. The attention to design and detail is amazing.

Pre-alpha says it all. I was hoping they'd be further along given their projected timeframe but things take time. They def need to work on the voice acting for the cutscenes, seems so unnatural given their tone. The landscape and vibe of the environment is something that I am really happy with. More attention to detail there gives all the more power to replayability, at least in my opinion. Thanks as always for the breakdown of gameplay Raptor!

(I'm a backer) I'm not usually one to reply to things, but their schedule was messed up by a certain nation attacking another. If I remember correctly a good bit of their team was in the eastern Europe area when the war broke out. Hopefully if the war dies down, the game development will begin to pick up again.

Some of the devs live in Eastern Europe, and I heard one or two had to relocate for the time being. They do seem to have their heart and souls into the project, so I’m sure it’ll get back to where it needs to be in time. I’d much rather it take longer than get a shitty rushed game

I think the designation of the german early ww1 machinegun, you were talking about was MG 08. Funfact: we even have a saying or rather an adjective related to it (ofc. colloquial); if something is very generic, simple or even of low quality, one could describe it as "08/15" (nullachtfuffzen or fünfzehn f.e.). This is related to the machinegun designation 08 and the year it was introduced (1915). There are several theories how the term came to be as a synonym of something generic. One is linked to the standardisation of its production process and the fact, that now even civilian factories could produce it.

It would be really cool if they ad a stealth attack . So you pick 1 or 2 soldiers and you click on a single enemy soldier or 2 and then are able to kill them quietly with a knife or something. Another cool feature would be giving different marks on enemy soldiers and positions to a few of your soldiers so if you then click fire everybody is firing at the same time

The weapons appear to be based off of various different firearms, with the imperial rats? using a weird mockup krag jorgenson style rifle, an mg08/15 machine gun and a bergmann 1910 mixed with a bit of mauser c96 as a pistol

The grenade range is crazy short, if they're incapable of throwing them further than that, how do they have the strength to freely carry and fire a normally fixed machine gun

The engines look a bit like 'knott' engines, a thing in early 20th century running on ... fermented wood chips? a very early form of engine running on woodchips. And I agree entirely - Design is so much more important than technical graphic quality. The design is pretty amazing.

It really looks cool, but I just dont understand the reason to go with the acathectic of animals if they are going to just act like humans. In Biomutant(very bad game) while you had human traits, when the character ran it would be on all fours and climbing and jumping was very agile.

1-ly, why not? And yeah, as guy mentioned, cuz it's not totally a WW1 strategy game, similar off course, but the genre is different, more like hybrid in between WW1 and WW2 as I remembered it was mentioned, there was an African battle theatre with Ratten reich and British mouses (or hamsters?), while there are still imperial Russia and Japan, they have a different path to technological developments. Still game looks good even for demo, wish they make it very long and good, and mod friendly as Man of War.

Given that in WW1 the Kaiser (the king) ruled Germany it makes sense that the same idea is put here especially given which side we are playing as.

Correction: It's not a Division, it is a Corps, like 511th Corps, Corps are much bigger, the Guns are based on M98s. Also it's a fucking MG08.

The map is beautiful, the whole game is. But i sincerely hope that the voiceover is just a placeholder quickly whipped up for the demo. Especially the woman. I'd expect a faux-german accent for Germany-inspired locale, but the woman who talks at 11:14 has a strong eastern-european accent, and is barely able to read the lines. Which completely ruins the immersion. Please, hire actors. Voiceover quality is super important, and can break a game.

Why are they standing and strolling so casually?. They have to change the idle animation so the units don’t look like they’re… I don’t know… *IN A WAR* and not strolling through the mall.
