Notice for every qb Colin credits wins to them but for Brock it’s all everybody else. There’s such a thing as middle ground, if you comp Brock to pat, Josh, Lamar, etc that’s a you problem. For a 7th round pick in year 2 Brock is objectively good. Franchise record for passing yards in a season in 16 games with 30 touchdowns is objectively good whether you’re the first pick or the last pick of the draft. Brock had a bad game against GB, it’s crazy to hold the standard that if he plays a bad game he’s a bum but if he plays a good game he gets absolutely 0 credit

Odd using Burrow as a comp - gone farther in the playoffs, was a highly recruited and drafted player, and helped turn around a perennially BAD team in the Bungals. Listen, I don't think Purdy is MVP nor a huge weakness and outside of Lamar I'm pulling for him in these playoffs (my team did not make the playoffs) but Burrow as the "accomplished half of what X did" comp is horrendous. Maybe start with Kirk and Dak

Tbf, I'm a Niners fan and do think that Brock Purdy is a top 5 QB - however, if we don't win, it's likely because of Purdy. However, you could even put Mahomes into that position, and still I'd say "if we don't win, it's likely because of Mahomes". The Niners team is so good and so well-balanced (maybe except of the O-Line and the CBs), that they could even take one part of the team not playing up to their standard and still win. However, if that part is the QB position, mistakes just have so much more of an impact. Any interception can easily be worth 7 points, or even more if it robs your own team of a good opportunity to score.

Went from calling him the MVP to the worst player on the field in less than a month. The flip flop of sports media is insane. They say he can't play from behind, then leads his team to a game winner and gets no credit. In order to play from behind, you have to probably not play too well to begin with. 2 years in the league, 2 NFC championship appearances, give the guy some grace.

The worst part about Nick's Purdy take is the inconsistency of being so upset that Purdy with excellent numbers was getting MVP consideration, while simultaneously being the one to push for Dak's MVP consideration. They're both good but not great quarterbacks with a lot of talent around them but he acts like Purdy is terrible and Dak was top 3-4 in the league. We get it, Purdy isn't Mahomes, but he's been very good this year.

I think Nick walked back his comments on Dak. Regarding the niners I think his hate is financially motivated. He had a 50k bet last year for them to make the SB against the chiefs. He spoke about it all season. He decided to bet against them this season several times and got hosed every time. He’s got to be down 100k+ on the niners.

If Purdy had the exact same game against the Cowboys, people would have said he managed to overcome a great defense, injuries, and found a way to win in the 4th quarter like a true winner. Instead, he did that to the team who DESTROYED the Cowboys and the narrative is "The Cowboys choked" and "49ers should have obliterated the Packers".

Since *Purdy* became starting QB, everyone's numbers/production increased. Is he the PERFECT QB? No. But to act like he's the *weakest link* just shows they dont actually watch tape. The Niners' O-Line ranks near the bottom and I'd say last game Ambry Thomas was a bigger reason for how the game panned out than Purdy's meh performance. Purdy gets 0 credit when they dominate, but all the blame when it's not looking great. Pick one.

Nick is dead wrong. I've watched every 49ers game this year. If you asked me "what is the weakness of the team?" I wouldn't hesitate for second: it's the offensive line. If they lose to Detroit, it will be because their offensive line couldn't block the Lion's defensive line.

Yep, for some reason everyone around the league is convinced the niners have a great o line, they are the 20th ranked pass blocking unit and that is with Trent Williams who is number 1! What do3s that tell you about the rest of the guys? When Trent was out their line was ranked 28 th of 32. None of these EITE qbs have ever played behind a line like that. None. Not Mahomes, not Allen, not Lamar, none.

1. Brock Purdy put up better numbers than all the QBs in the playoffs and did it with more yards per attempt, a higher completion percentage, and a higher passer rating than all of them. All year. 2. Drizzling rain? It was a frickin' MONSOON out there for at least half of the game. If Purdy doesn't throw through the rain in the first quarter and hits his usual darts, the 49ers go up early and maintain the lead the whole game probably. 3. Purdy is Mr. Irrelevant, but he's taking the 49ers to a SECOND STRAIGHT NFC title game in only his second season. And had he not been injured in the NFCCG last year, the 49ers could have been in the Superbowl last year with a ROOKIE quarterback. Now who did that in the AFC? Oh that's right, Pat Mahomes. 4. Brock Purdy STILL has more playoff wins than Lamar Jackson. Lamar has to win the AFC Championship just to TIE Brock in Wins- unless of course Purdy also wins this weekend... 5. Lamar Jackson's "MVP case" is a joke (Dak and Purdy had better numbers, and CMC was better than all of them) of perception brought on by the Christmas day win where he did nothing but stall out drives while the Defense kept him in plus territory all night (off of FLUKE interceptions and defensive penalties on the 49ers). In a rematch on a neutral field in perfect conditions, and ESPECIALLY if Deebo is good to go along with CMC, the 49ers will play a very different game than the self-inflicted beatdown they took from the Ravens on Christmas. And that's assuming the Ravens get past Mahomes, which is a coin flip as indicated by Vegas and everybody else.

Warrner undrafted, Brady late round draft, Wilson late round draft, etc. It's not always where someone starts. We've seen many many many 1st round QBs suck. It's how the team, coaches, and QB work together in the beginning that builds a HOF player. Purdy is learning and the learning curve is vertical in the NFL he's doing pretty good for someone no one but his team, coaches and himself believes in.

I'll finish the line for Nick Wright "What is the biggest 9ers weakness..." the answer should be their O-Line. Colton McKivitz is a liability. A second year young QB deals with a collapsing O-line in like 50% of the plays it feels like. When the pocket is clean, Purdy plays really well in most of the snaps. Also, Detroit is weak against George Kittle, he could feast this game if we play it that way. I think this Sunday needs to be National TE day feature George of the Jungle Kittle!

Dude, if you actually watched film, you would know that nobody layers throws into the second level like Brock Purdy. nobody throws with the anticipation that Purdy has. These are his strengths. The weakness on the niners is pass protection on the right side of the line.

The fact that Nick Wright just said that he did not believe Brock Purdy could or would come through on that final drive, just reaffirms that he just doesn’t know what he’s talking about in relation to Purdy, and has a deep rooted bias against him . Anyone who’s been watching and studying Purdy for the last 14 months knows that he is tailor made for a moment like that, he has exactly what it takes to come through in a moment like that, but he’s just had few opportunities to do so , because he puts so many damn points on the board, that they are rarely behind in the fourth quarter. Nick Wright likes to drool over athletic quarterbacks, and will never give cerebral quarterbacks their fair due. Brock Purdy has figured out how to compensate for what he might not have, and most quarterbacks are not able to compensate like that . And that’s what makes him so special. It apparently bothered Nick quite a bit how bad Brock Purdy looked in the first three hours, but it didn’t bother Purdy at all. He forgot about the first three hours of that game and came through in the final 15 minutes - when he had to . That’s the making of a champion, and a champion doesn’t have to be the greatest physical specimen that ever lived. A champion is made of something more than that

But brock is so quick to be criticized and praise is held back on. The reason Niner fans believe and defend the kid is because of all those games with CJ, Hoyer, Mullens and yes even Jimmy. I no longer close my eyes and hold my breath when our QB airs it out and the ball moves off screen. When Jimmy G did that, its an insta-pick...when brock does it its a 30,40,55 yard DOT. Just watch the tape and judge him fairly.

Brady was an anomaly because of politics. He was clearly the best QB at Michigan, but they didn’t want to start him because they had higher rated recruits on the roster, even though Brady would always come in bail them out, he never got a true fighting chance to be the starter. If he started for 2-3 years he would have been a first round pick

As a fan that’s watched every game, every play, it’s the secondary that is our weak link. Brock is very good and every bad game is magnified. Should have never been in mvp talks but I guess I’d be willing to say he is our second weakest link. I think mid season, we thought it would be SF and Philly but, as things played out, it seems to be the best final 4

Purdy is far far from the Niners' weakness. Their real weakness is Kyle Shanahan's stubborn playcalling in tough spots like having your QB who struggles throwing in the rain throw the ball 39 times or having your QBs keep throwing the ball when you have multiple score leads in two different Super Bowls. That's why Shanahan is 1-30 when trailing in the 4th. Purdy got him that one win despite Shanahan's playcalling.

In this case and against the Ravens, he knows how great Brock really is, and even though it didn't make sense to play it this way, he just kept making Purdy throw even though he was having to do it without all his main targets even with CMC right there itching to go. Kyle is so stubborn, it's annoying.

You can apply Wright’s logic about Purdy having a bad game until the last drive to his ‘Prince that was promised” in last year’s playoffs. Terrible the entire first half, then an amazing second half. And besides Brady, but what about Kurt Warner. Or Montana, or even Dak? And what about Jamarcus Russell or Ryan Leaf or any hundreds of other QBs drafted in the first round? Or Tony Mandarich, for non-QBs? Those “professional scouts” are definitely not infallible.

We beat the fins earlier in the season and then unfortunate for them couldn't beat the bills so they ended up having to play us in the first round. regardless of the snow its always cold in KC during this time and historically mia dont play well in the cold they was never going to win with the QB they had. Bills had everything going their way in that game and had plenty of chances to put the chiefs away and didn't thats on them... they couldn't beat us at home or away. Chiefs played they best offensive game this season when they needed to!!! But you wont acknowledge that will you? I remember back in 2015-2016 virtually all the commentators said that NFL championship game between the Panthers (15-1) and the Cardinals (13-3) was the real Superbowl, and the AFC championship game between the Broncos (12-4 and the Patriots (12-4) was a sideshow. The Broncos beat the Patriots very narrowly, 20-18, and then, in the Superbowl itself, went on to dominate the Panthers. Had the Patriots beaten the Broncos, they also would likely have won: the Pats and the Broncos were very close in talent. I do believe that if the Ravens beat the Chiefs, they will likely win the Superbowl: NFC teams simply do not know how to play against Lamar Jackson. But if the Chiefs win, either the 49ers or the Lions have a good chance of beating them.

The idea that Green Bay should have won that game is bogus. They didn't win because San Francisco did what it took to win despite being rusty and despite Brock not having a good game. Their QB, Jordan Love, had a WORSE game than Brock had (fewer yards passing and two interceptions). No mention of this. Crickets. They praise Love. Illogical, as Spock would say. We are dealing with people who aren't good at evaluating football pretending to be experts, while the real experts (former NFL qbs, for example) are very high on Brock. o

Purdys throw to Aiyuk on that final drive against G.B. was VALUABLE DATA, so was his run that put them at the 6 yard yard line and so was being perfect on pass completions on that final drive if not for a drop by the best over all Tight End in football, which no one will talk bad about his play. Tuning into most of your shows all year n watching Purdy play I could say that he's doing almost a good of job on the field as you are in the studio n I say them both as compliments.

Nick has no clue what he’s talking about. 49ers fans watch Purdy play well and that’s why we like him, then if we use the numbers Nick says the numbers don’t matter.
