20 mins of Raw unpolished sailing with No talking, No music, No voiceovers, just 8 days, 3 gybes and 1200 miles crossing the Caribbean Sea on a 40ft Beneteau. This is shot from an onboard POV perspective, mostly Uncut and Unedited to try and accurately represent what an offshore crossing is like for us on SV Beaver. We slowly cycle through miles with some fast days, some slow days and some rather quite rough days as we make our way from Guadeloupe to Panama. Enjoy!

A favorite of mine, I get tired at times of listening to music as I know that is not what you hear while recording. The wind and waves, rigging creaking, for me, even your talking, that is what sailing is. Love your channel and look forward to seeing more. Take care, be safe and sail on.

@@SailingBeaver I don't mind the music per say, just the audio level it comes in at after the spoken word. It's not only your problem, it seems to be every ones, I follow not only sailing but hiking and farming also and its all the same, music at least double the volume. I do enjoy the selections you do play.

First of all, your videos are so satisfying. I'm 63 and the sea is calling me. Presently, I'm learning as much as I can about sailing, navigation, etc. I have a dream to retire on a boat, and see the world. I fear finances will deny me. In the meantime, I have an rc sailboat in mind to build. Hopefully that will scratch my itch for now. Anyway, stay safe, and keep the vids coming.

Great footage and, at least from this side of the screen, extremely relaxing. It recalls my transatlantic crossing in 1992 East to West with 3 friends of mine on Moana 27, a very robust 27 footer... delivering her from the Ostar '92, Newport Rhode Island, back to La Spezia in Italy.

Watching your videos for a while, absolute great , no dramatics just as it is ! Just a couple of questions, flying wing on wing is not very conformable is a deep cut code zero not better , you can still sail at 135 degrees down, it will cost you an arm and a leg for the sail and furler, but a lot more comfortable and safer , no boom .Watching the repair of the rudder i got the idea to open both side of the ruder where the water and corrosion is clean it out verry good no salt,water and corrosion left, sand the shaft and inner top of the rudder wit 60 grade paper, make a temp seal on the outer side of the rudder make a box inside the rudder and fill it with casting epoxy, the rest as usual with matting and epoxy, so the sealing is not longer depending on a beat of sica but it is full caste in epoxi .

Thank you kind sir! We had a new cover fitted for this crossing, believe it’s just quite light ripstop Dacron. There is a few different sizes and ours it the XT vane.

In episode 10 (Portugal) we fit more panels and show some wiring to the controller. The panel mounts are from NOA a Swedish brand. Thanks. Hydrovane goes great anywhere Aft of 140 apparent and dead downwind is best. Needs to be above 8kn apparent if there is any sea. Fair winds 🤙

Recently crossed Aruba-Jamaica on a cat. Similar sea conditions. Your mono looks like a better deal. The straps on the boom… is that to hold the bag closed?

Interesting, hope the trip was a good one. We just have sail ties in stronger wind so the reefed part of the sail doesn’t flap around in the breeze.
