Problem is his game is built around thinking/IQ and puck skill. He's a tripod ECHL skater with all-world shooting/passing/handling. he *needs* to be thinking one step ahead because his skating is steps behind.

The thing is Petey also needs to be a threat in scoring. Otherwise he becomes predictable when he relies only on passing.

I dunno why people say they couldn’t have foreseen the type of year the Canucks are having. It’s not like we have a roster as what San Jose has. There are 5 legit superstars on this team and they’ve been on this team for quite a few years now. Miller, Hughes, Petey, Demko, Brock. How many other teams can claim they have a superstar in goal, a superstar on D and superstars on forward? Those 5 guys alone is good enough to turn this team into a contender. Why did we suck last year? Simple. Demko was hurt and we didn’t have a NHL calibre goalie to replace him. Like did I think at the beginning of the year we’d win the Pacific? No. But I certainly thought we’d be up there challenging for the Pacific title

The Canucks didn't just suck last year, they sucked for THREE straight seasons. So saying Demko being injured for a few months is the ONLY reason this team was bad is straight wrong. The coaching change, bringing in Tocchet, Foote and Gonchar, is the reason this team finally became a contender after 3 years of misery.

@@mrquirky3626 But the last 3 years have nothing to do with this year. Are we just suppose to continue to suck? People forget the Canucks went 20-12-4 after Tocchet took over the team. That translates to exactly 100 points over 82 games. Plus they brought in Hronek and got an actual NHL calibre backup in DeSmith. Brought in Blueger to help with the PK. The signs were there saying this should be a very good team this year.

the nucks have full structure, no passengers on defence , elite talent at the main three positions, the top defence pair is absolutely elite , the bottom four are huge puck clearing defencemen that can move the puck, they probably have the best third line in hockey . don't underestimate tocchets dedication to team fitness. Also the way this team is designed to play should compliment the playoffs nicely , many teams who go from out of it to a top seed seem to be run and gun teams and then they dont do too well, whereas the nucks are a highly talented and structured 200ft army.
