And all three of them had something different, someone different, they were feeling and thinking about with their versions. The spiritual magic of music. Kind of like Hallelujah, that song has taken on so many different forms and all are powerful.

@@sharkbeatz313 That one hit me hard too. I just didn't see it coming...though in retrospect, looking back at old Soundgarden lyrics, it's all SO foreseeable. It's such a cultural loss that of the front-people in the "big four" Seattle bands...only one is left. Shortly after Chris' passing, Eddie was a guest on a podcast hosted by Cornell's daughter. It's a mental health focused podcast, ironically enough. It was a heavy episode. You could see on Eddie's face how losing so many peers/friends over the years really messed him up. I barely ever cry (not a brag...it's mostly a defense mechanism to not feel pain. i gotta work on that..) but watching that podcast...you bet I had a good cry. The fact it was Eddie talking to Chris' own daughter was especially rough. She seemed really cool tho, and you could tell the Cornell and Vedder families are super tight.

The last verse "all the flowers that you planted mama, in your back yard...all died when you went away" gets me every time. Incredible vocalist, fabulous songwriter of songs like Sunshower, Fell on Black Days, The Day I Tried to Live, Like Suicide, When I'm Down, Follow My Way, Seeking A Friend For The End of The World, Say Hello 2 Heaven, Wave Goodbye, Seasons, Like A Stone, etc, etc. And his "thank you" at the end of the song. No Chris. Thank you...for making the soundtrack to my life with your music.

Chris Cornell is my favorite vocalist and there is not a close second! From Outshined to Like a Stone to "I Am the Highway", to "Black Hole Sun" to "Hungerstrike" to "Cochise" to this song. His range. His tone. He can carry a note for what seems like forever. None of it feels labored or forced. He's like no one else I've ever heard!

RIP Chris Cornell. We lost a great singer who influenced rock and music in general greatly. Whether it was with Soundgarden, Audioslave, Temple of the Dog or his solo material. It would have been fun to see what his music would have been going forward but unfortunately he is gone like so many others. His music will live forever in our hearts.

Last time I saw him was the 2014 Soundgarden reunion tour, with Nine Inch Nails, at White River Amphitheater. My foot was killing me and I couldn't stand for much of the show when everyone else did, so I mostly heard it without seeing .... and with Cornell, that is sure enough. When you have a chance to go to a show like that, who cares if your foot hurts, YOU GO. You would always regret not.

i just discovered your channel and I love your reaction videos. Your reactions to Alter Bridge are what first drew me in. Whenever I meet someone who has not heard of Chris Cornell, I point them to this cover every time. I'll throw my vote in for more Alter Bridge. There's a great acoustic only version of "Ghosts of Days Gone By" that you can find on YT. It's a SiriusXM video. If you want to hear more of Mark Tremonti's voice, I highly recommend "Waters Rising" or "Burn It Down (live versions)" . On the studio version of "Burn it Down", Myles sang lead, but a few years back they started having Mark take lead. No matter what though, anything by Alter Bridge is just so, so good!

Chris was the real deal. Iknow this wasn't his song but he wrote great, deep and profound lyrics, had one of the best rock voices in at least a generation or two and for instance he did the arrangement for this song with the kick @ss Chello and the kick@ss solo guitarist. His arrangement skills imo were/are kinda overlooked. He was practically a musical prodigy. He talks about in an interview of hearing lyrics in his head for Fell on Black days(I think) while driving late at night in his car and he kept repeating them until he got home and then wrote them down and put them to music within 45 minutes or something.

I was 16 in 1991 when Soundgarden Badmotorfinger came out and i instantly fell in love with it and his voice, then to find out that he was also a singer in Temple of A Dog along side unknown Eddie Veddar of Pearl Jam. I have loved him ever since and he is my favorite artist well along with Ozzy Osbourne, and now The Warning lol In on of the music magazines back then(Kerrang, Spin, Hit Parader) Elton John had said Chris Cornell was the voice of rock. Along with Layne Stayley they had to of the best voices in recent times. Taylor Momsen of The Pretty Reckless were the openers for Soundgarden the night he took his life and it hit her really hard. If it wasnt for Matt Cameron and Kim Thyll she almost gave up music completely. He is so missed and both his daughters Lilly and Toni have beautiful voices like their father.

The enunciation is the difference. For me, anyway. I'm an old non-musician but... Chris Cornell's lyrics (as opposed to some of his grunge peers and predecessors) could be clearly comprehended no matter how high or raspy or batshit crazy the range he attempted. Same reason why Frank Sinatra was so highly regarded back in the days before the beautiful RAYACTION ever even thunk about reacting. I met Cornell at a party in Seattle back in the mid 90's. When he has already a supercool superstar. He said he was a drummer turnt rock star is what he told me. Whatever that means.

As great as Soundgarden shows were, Chris’s solo shows were something truly remarkable. His shows reminded me of Tori Amos shows that felt so intimate that you didn’t want it to end, and there were so many moments where you could hear a pin drop, like the whole crowd was holding their breath waiting for the next word. That loss still hurts and will for a long time. What an incredible artist.

The Sinead version will always be the definitive version. It's just a perfect pop song. Deeply emotional and deeply catchy. And her particular delivery is just perfect for it. But this is definitely the runner up. I sometimes forget what a stunningly powerful voice Chris had. Deep and high at the same time...with this very fine grain tone. Like an electric blanket. Obviously, his eventual passing(and the specific circumstances) make this performance all the more affecting. I never quite realized how much he struggled with serious depression...he always struck me as supremely confident and together. But, when you look back at old Soundgarden lyrics, it was staring us all in the face. Heck, he wrote a song who's title is literally the method he ended up using. It's really a bummer how many people we've lost from that generation of music. Of the "big 4" Seattle bands...the only front-person still alive is Eddie Vedder. I hope he's doing ok. I watched a podcast shortly after Chris' passing...where Chris' daughter interviewed Eddie. It was heavy. And you could tell how gutted Eddie was to have lost his peers/friends. I can't see Perry Farrell or Billy Corgan EVER doing that though...they're both too in love with themselves to ever make that choice, which I'm glad about. Janes and the Pumpkins mean a LOT to me.
