i am about to get into 1/8 nitro buggy racing. thank you so much for this video!!! im doing research as to what everything does so i can get an idea of how things work and how i might need to adjust things down the road when i start to get used to the buggy and improve my skills. thank you again for this video, super informative!

In the GT8 world, a lot of racers run zero droop. It makes the cars corner flat and fast, but if your wheel drops down, you'll lose your grip and spin.

I have the exact same car and I appreciate your knowledge. You explained this way better than some of the pro drivers. My question is what should the drop be set to front and back by using this method?
@wheels.and.wrenches3 жыл бұрын
You set thr droop to whatever the set up sheet tells you to. Then fine tune from there

General Pointers More Droop - Better handling on bumpy tracks, more consistent traction on difficult tracks. More weight distribution and will remove ‘twitchiness’ and is better for slow speed corners. Less Droop - Car changes direction faster and corners flatter. Generally feels more responsive and direct. Better suited for high- speed smooth tracks.

Adjust your tie rods perfectly even. Adjust your toe perfectly even. And adjust your steering trim so it tracks perfectly straight

What's the settings for a lose track on droop for that car. I was loose and out of control. MBx7r
@wheels.and.wrenches3 жыл бұрын
You're loose and out of control because your car has too much power. Dial back your power to 70-80% and adjust your radio Expo to make the power roll on softer. And practice throttle control with your finger. Try running M3 or X4 Holeshots. Droop is a fine tuning tool

Hi! I race a short 2wd course truck and a 2wd buggy on a high bite indoor carpet track with foam tires, how much droop should I set on my vehicles?
@wheels.and.wrenches5 жыл бұрын
Very little droop. You want heavy springs, heavy oils, low ride height, and very little droop.
@theringmaster36845 жыл бұрын
@@wheels.and.wrenches ok, thanks! I always thought a ball differetial was smoother and better for handling than a gear diff, but alot of people say that a gear diff is the way to go on carpet?
@extec101 Жыл бұрын
@@theringmaster3684 little late but the thing is that a gear diff can take much more beating and dont slip as a balldiff would do and if it slips it shave of the balls and the diff starts to be un smoth and the loop of slip create more loose diff that slip more and so on.

What would make the rear stick better on loose track
@wheels.and.wrenches6 жыл бұрын
WayneRc You would first make sure you're running the right tires. 2nd you need to make sure your diffs have the right weight oil in them. If those 2 things are okay, then to add rear traction you can add rear toe by moving the D Block OUT. You can lower the rear Links on the tower. You can soften the rear suspension. You can also try a lighter rear sway bar. Most importantly, traction is controlled by precise throttle control with your finger.

I’m racing bone stock Slash late model with hcg chassis and 17.5t blinky on indoor carpet where roll is also an issue. I think we can only change oil weights and add spacers and I think we can also put limiters inside the shocks to prevent droop. Stock springs only also I think. This will be my first season indoors so forgive lack of knowledge on this track’s rules. Bowling Green Ohio, Woodland Mall is the track. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Limit the shock length internally. Put silicon tubing over the shaft to limit the down travel. Your shock will be much shorter, and your truck will sit much lower. Put heavy weight oil in your shocks... around 500 to 600 try. And you also need a good radio so you can slow down your steering speed and turn down the sensitivity. This is a must for carpet racing

Can to much droop be bad or cause problems?
@wheels.and.wrenches4 ай бұрын
Droop is limited by the shock length. 14" shocks are plenty. The front axle droop can definitely be a problem because the driveshaft is offset obviously.

A new driver should set the droop to a factory setup sheet. Before knowing what all the adjustments do start with a setup sheet that is for ie. rough track, lose track, blue groove(the track is very smooth and compacted and develops a blue tint) etc. Then after you have a good preexisting setup you can start messing with droop and other things to see what they do. When it comes to tires just see what the other guys are running. Also the trim settings on your radio should be set at less speed and response so your car is forgiving. Otherwise watch loads of videos and have fun. Don't get too stressed...driving ability comes with practice. If you don't have a track near you or you can't go to a track often just find or make an area or track to play on. Some skateparks and open offroad areas work fine. You can even set up cones in a parking lot to race around. Best wishes and good luck!
