I bought mine 3 months ago and this one is the best 6105-8110 homage by far. Crystal, bezel, dial, hour markers, hands, crown, case finish and proportions...everything is too close to the original but with a better movement, screw down crown, hacking. For the price is a really good watch and you can wear it as a beater. I have the original Seiko 6105-8110 but I use it only on special occasions just in case. Great review and many thanks for sharing. By the way, I bought mine from WR Watches and I bought as well a 20mm. Tropic strap band that fits perfectly.

Very well done by RD. This is not just another homage trying to make some money by cutting costs. The downside is that such attention to details costs quite a bit of money and it is reflected in the selling price. RD did not use common parts as in the other homages but rather have it custom made. Very nice - I also like the applied logo (which shows it is its own interpretation)...and in which case sticking to the Lock arrow pointing in the wrong direction for which it would be properly functional to pay tribute to the original seems wrong...I like the arrow and word 'Lock' but think it should break with reproduction accuracy and point in the proper direction so as to be functionally accurate...cheers!

Just want to say thanks, Chris. Your review - made a year ago, is still relevant to the market. I bought my Rdunae 'Captain Willard' on this, and other recommendations. But this is by far THE best video showcasing the Rdunae R2X. It's a nice presentation, but the truth is (for anyone watching) the R2X is every bit as good as Chris makes it out to be. Mine arrived today and I am very glad I went with it, rather than one of the competing models. Sporting mine on a 19mm NATO strap. One day, I might take the plunge and mod it with an aftermarket Seiko dial and hands. For now, I'm really loving it in stock configuration. Very nice attention to detail in the video and beautifully articulated. One thing everyone leaves out, is the ghost minute track appearing in the beveled edge of the crystal. I didn't think it would, but it actually does the trick! Anyway, Chris - thanks again and all the best to you. Keep up the good work.

I was about to press the button on a Steeldive SD1970 along with a load of modding parts including a Pearlescent Black Dial when someone on a comments section mentioned Rdunae & I came across your video. So glad I did. What I might have spent on additional modding parts and tools, I can now get something that's far closer to the original without the hassle/joy of testing my eyesight and patience! Also, went into my local Seiko AD yesterday to see what this type of watch felt like on the wrist & they had a Captain Willard modern interpretation 2500 Limited Edition model..... 3.5k!!!!!!

Just ordered one of these. Like you said, this ‘looks’ the best homage to the 6105. I have asked Rdunae to swap the blue AR to clear AR which they will do. Looking forward to taking delivery.

I have one of these on order (to replace my damaged Steeldive SD1970) and I can't wait! I think the crystal and bezel-insert REALLY lifts the standard compared to Steeldive/Heimdaller/Tonderino, etc...

It comes with a nice strap but i ended up getting a uncle seiko waffle strap that also come with fatboy spring bars. watch looks solid.

It’s really nice,I have the steeldive V2 of the Willard,which I recently regulated to +2 seconds a day,so more accurate. Prefer a 20mm ‘strap gap’,though. But yes,it is nice. Regards

They really make some high quality watches. I love the look of the aluminum bezel! I do appreciate how accurate it is, but I do wish they would have added the extra mm to the lug width to give you more strap options, but that's the only small thing I could complain about. I’ve got the steel dive day and date version as well as the just date version. I’m so close to pulling the trigger on the actual Seiko which could cost up to £1200 but to be honest this Rdunae is closer to the original than the Seiko reboot. I’ve got a Rdunae 6105-8000 and the quality is bob on. I’m really considering flipping the two steeldives and going for this instead. Excellent vid.

Seiko designed the NH35 movement, albeit as the 4R15 or whatever it is and they cannot possibly be unaware of the watches the movements are going in. This is almost like Ford selling engines to a company cloning a 1970's Capri, while Ford themselves come out with a retro inspired, limited edition remake of the Capri that doesn't quite satisfy anyone! Rdunae have nailed it with this. Time to explain another purchase to the Wife. . . . Arrrgh!

I suspect replica Seiko dials will be finding their way into a lot these.

Great review. Good to see a comparison to the Seiko re-issue. I bought a 6105-8000 from them a year ago and love it. Only thing that could be better is the lume on the hands and the bezel pip. The dial lume is way stronger. Did they improve this issue on the Willard?

Hi Chris. Congratulations on the review. You said it measures 44mm, but is this measurement between 9 and 3 o'clock (not including the crown)? Well, despite being big it seems that the lug to lug distance is not that big. I have a slim wrist (around 6.7 inches) and I'm always concerned when buying online about the watch could be too big for me. That's why I'm in doubt between this model and his cousin from Rdunae, the WR02.

This looks like a really nice watch. I own the Steeldive "Capt. Willard" homage and I like it fine, but this appears to take things to the next level. It ticks many more boxes as an homage. I'm tempted to get it, though.

I fully agree, this is certainly the best looking Captain Willard homages I've seen. The proportions are perfect, the applied logo is very nice, the neatly printed aluminium bezel with that cleanly integrated lume pip is eye candy and it features a nice fitting piece of sapphire. It suddenly makes my Steeldive homage look shoddy by comparison and it certainly puts Seiko's own reissues for more than a grand to shame.

Hi, does anyone know if this aluminium bezel insert scratches easily, especially if working in a warehouse environment? If so, is it easy or cheap to get hold of a new bezel insert? Thanks for uploading this helpful video

Is there a big size difference between this and the 8100? I've got the Steeldive and it fits great. I'm a bit worried this watch will be a bit too big.

The original 6105-8110 has "resist" on it's dial. Not "proof". They could fix that...

As far as I know, this is the only Willard homage with a true 4oclock crown, 19mm lugs and LOCK crown. My heimdallr I mod’d into a true Willard has the 4ish o’clock crown 😢.

Thorough review, thanks Chris. This is the closest I've seen other than the Heimdallr Custom Made Vintage Mechanical Diver but that's at least another £100 on top and has a slightly different handset (although the correct ones are available) The Heimdallr doesn't have any AR coating which makes as much difference as the aluminium bezel insert (IMO) You do get 20mm lugs but it has a Swiss ETA 2824-2 (+ 2-3 secs per day on wrist) if I didn't have that then I'd definitely be looking hard in the Rdunae 's direction! I have their R3 Seahorse and the quality of the case is outstanding, definitely a brand to keep an eye on.

This is such a great looking rendition of the original. That design with the case back recessed into the case to let the watch actually sit on your wrist not balanced there like a turtle stuck on a rock is inspired! I honestly wonder why Seiko abandoned it. Not even the new Seiko versions get that part quite right.

Just received mine and love it. Great detail and very true to the original. Case measurements almost identical. My only issue is with the blue AR. Anyone know if it is applied to the top or underside of the crystal?

I had mine about 6 months when it started to run between 5 minutes to half an hour slow, very disappointing and not the first Chinese watch I've had problems with

¿Lugs to 19mm? There was no need to be so faithful to the orignal, 20mm would get you out of that pain in the... back when you have to buy a strap for it.

Lock inscription show arrow going in wrong direction but qualifies as excellent attention to detail? Actually, that's just the opposition of attention to detail. Say anything for money I guess.

Not sure if it's worth the price tag comparing it to the steel dive version at around £75.00.i do like the engraved lock on the crown though,but can't justify that for paying double the price.

This watch size is for stocky short blokes with fat wrists.
