Hi Lyn, thanks for your most helpful and upbeat videos. I planted five seeds in December 2016 and they all germinated. Unfortunately I think I was keeping things too wet because Fungus Fly got one and another rotted. Since then I have kept the survivors drier and they are doing well! Thank you so much for taking the effort to help us out here in KZfaq land! Love and Happiness to you in the Emerald Isle!

Thats wonderful that you have grown Lophophora successfully from seed too :-D and the fungus gnats are sucha pain and I have had them eat the roots on some of my seedlings too, keeping them druer is definitely the best prevention and cure for these pests as they hate dry soil and the grubs that eat the roots on young seedlings can't survive in drier soil :-D thanks so much for your wonderful comment and for watching and sending you tons of love and happiness and heaps of PLANT POWER your way for a FANTASTIC Thursday XXXX

Dear Lyn, I have recently discovered the amazing world of succulents! Through trying to educate myself I watched MANY videos. I am compelled to contact you and tell you how happy I am that I, also, discovered your channel on KZfaq! I seem to only watch your videos now because they are everything we (the uninformed) need and want them to be! You are absolutely lovely and such a joy to watch, not to mention how wonderfully you share your knowledge! I have watched so many of your videos that I have completely over inundated my mind and can’t keep all the info straight! I’m taking notes now! Lol! I really just wanted to reach out to you and tell you that you have given me the inspiration to try and nurture these beautiful displays of nature (succulents)! I had so very badly misunderstood them and feared them, yet was always drawn to them. It felt as a curse to love something just to kill it… how awful! I hope now, with your help, I can do right by them and I will be looking to you for knowledge. Congratulations to you and Hans! He is simply wonderful as well! I’ve not delved into cactus just yet but ALL the information is so very useful. Lyn, you are a pleasure and I look forward to whatever it is you have coming next for us! I just love your aura! Most sincerely, Amy

Yes, becuz think, to who profites criminality? Think, of course weapons are legal, if you have the money you can own nuclear, some megalomaniacs have, and, Yes becuz drugs is their greatest competitor, thats why its illegal, cuz its can change the crowd. And the crowd nurish them, drug can make rebel, selfish, and can bring on the road of money, and abitions,, and can unlock parts of the mind we were not albe to use b4, drug is one of their greatest competitor becuz very young, the poor land in it, that mean, very young it open eyes if some, very young it does make we do not follow the crowd, very young it does make we don't want to liv working for another, very young the others thing we're marginal 😅 but i keep believing, the average people, aren't 100% aware, aren't 100% theirself, aren't 100% awake, but drug... Stays something i don't want to talk about publicly, but isn't that bad sure when it comes to natural drugs, i'm agains chemical drugs, but natural its fine, becuz look, the shaman's on the amazone forest, comonly lived to 120 year old, and older, while finaly, they were doing all kinds of drugs, but they were free, healthy, out of this poisonous society

You carry on and grow them dear pal, and use the wrong label. Humans are very arrogant to outlaw a harmless little cacti. I don't recall the atom bomb being outlawed, but a tiny cacti!!!? Humans can be most contrary.

@@desertplantsofavalon have you ever bought a gun? There is a common misconception that they can be purchased easily but the fact is you have to get a background check you have to wait until it clears then you can get it . I grew Lophophora from seed many years back. Had a similar result to the video. I did exactly what she does, yet all my cacti got rotten roots and died :( Knowing what I know now, they probably could have been saved, but my point is its always a good idea to either plant into completely dry soil or leave them bare rooted for a week before repotting, to avoid any rot.

Hello happy lady Lynne, I have a couple that are slightly larger that need repotting. But quite a lot of the soil from pot I'm transferring from is heavily compacted to the plant. I don't want to damage the root system, can I bring over what is attached into the bigger pot or should it be removed? The new soil mix I have has been watered and allowed to drain but not dry as the mix you are using here, it's only moist but will that be ok? Thanks for any advice in advance.

craig, diffusa is incredibly beautiful, and even people living in mexico get fooled by the identification. also, you can legally grow koehresii, fricii, and decipiens, possibly the most beautiful of all the lophophora. alberto-votechi may be available as well. get growing, you can have your cake, just don't eat it. these species will all make you ill, and williamsii is mostly a hyped fairy tale. only american indians routinely go through the ordeal of the sickness it brings. but they have very different views and look at sickness as something positive. if it was anything at all, there would be a market for it. i have never heard of anyone selling peyote even in the 60's.

Not sure if you will see this comment, but I recently put my peyote cactus in my green house after buying one in Vancouver Canada, it had no natural sunlight and never dropped below 20-25 C. I put it in my greenhouse this may as it gets mostly direct sunlight and temperatures of 30-43 C. In the day and 20 C. At night...my question is I have noticed red around the bottom of it, is this too much sun, too much water, too much heat/humidity, cold stress from night, maybe not enough light. I'm at loss, and I'd hate too destroy it as these are hard to find where I am...please help?

Looing forward for the tab root developing when they mature. Love the root on the mature L it's like an iceberg with most of the plant below the surface! :)

@@desertplantsofavalon thanks for answering, u guys heart is unfounable in the people i have around of me in my country, and yes Lynn i should ask a drugger rather than you, but honestly, i've never took mescaline, and i've never seen someone with soo mush passion in plants, especialy cacti/cactus, so, i had the idea you were the ideal person to ask it to :) you even remember all their complicated names :) anyway, escuse me for asking you about the "drug" they contain, i became interested becuz of povery, someone at his peak don't need drugs, me.. its diferently.. i liv in a babylon system you know, my parents been enslaved, escuse me, and somethimes i make write faults, its becuz i'm from france, and acualy liv in belgium, i have learned english recently, i curently speak french and netherlands, so, escuse me aswel for this 🤗

Does my Lophophora Williamsi var. Fricii contain mescaline?
@desertplantsofavalon

Hi there :-D I am not sure as I dont know anything about the mescaline levels in these plants sorry XXXXX
@azz75sl
@azz75sl 4 жыл бұрын
I read that williamsii var. fricii is a misnomer and they are actually a variation of diffusa leaving them with little to no mescaline. There were test results referenced confirming that but I couldn’t find a source for the original test results to follow up on it. Edit: and if you’re thinking about eating your cactus for mescaline there are much better ways of that that don’t involve eating multiple beautiful cacti that have been growing for so long.

Hi there :-D I water my Lophs from Spring until early Fall / Autumn and only water them when the soil in their pots is dry, from Autumn / Fall I keep them dry and cool in the polytunnel with no watering at all and overwinter them at a minimum temperature of 5c / 40F XXXX

+Desert Plants of Avalon Thank you. My Lophs are 3.5 years old and are still smaller than a dime. Not sure why they are growing so slow. I only water once a month. That might be the reason.

why do they call this slow growing. For a plant thats two years old its doing great. btw, shoul i add calcite to soil.
@gazepskotzs4
@gazepskotzs4 7 жыл бұрын
I was amazed by their size too, mine grow a lot slower but i think it is because i m to scared for root rot and feed them not enough water. They like limestone based soil, so my guess some calcite would be appreciated by them , i always use a little marl in their soil.

Would chalk work(you know, for black board)?
@gazepskotzs4
@gazepskotzs4 7 жыл бұрын
I m not sure but my gut feeling tells me that the % available calcium in chalk is higher than in marble, marl or other limestone-types. In small amounts maybe it is ok but it is safer to stick with some kind of limestone I think.

LOL I am definitely not breaking the law just by posting up a video on these beautiful plants and I live in northern Ireland where it is perfectly legal to sell and grow in UK and Ireland as it is in mnay parts of Europe also, However it IS illegal to grow in many parts of the US : Peyote (lophophora williamsii) is Schedule I in the United States. This means it is illegal to manufacture, buy, possess, or distribute (sell, trade or give) without a DEA license XXXX
