Otto Apocalypse is a masterfully written character, with lights and shadows, this animation gives closure to his story, bittersweet as it is, it's neither a happy ending nor a bad ending, it's a masterpiece of story writing, all his life he made choices to get to this ending, he gave everything to get there and, for better or worse, it's his best ending. Without making more spoilers, you have to play this game, IMHO just this character is enough to make Honkai 3rd worthy of being played. And he's not the only one! Next on the menu: "Because of you", Elysia in all of her splendor, one of my favourites, remember to choose the JP version, Inoue Marina gives so much personality to Elysia.

Otto’s plot story can only be understood in Honkai Impact 3 certainly This doesn't mean that the bad things he did in the past were not bad things. He is equivalent to trying every method to resurrect Kallen. It took a full 500 years There will be a little easter egg at the end of this animation Of course that can only be seen in the game As someone who has already played Honkai Impact 3 For a 6-year veteran player, the plot and storyline of Honkai Impact 3 will always be touching.

Otto's story is long and complicated. He's responsible for finding a cure for the Black Plague, but his methods involved human experimentation, which drove a wedge between him and Kallen, his only real friend since they were little and his ideal for what a person should be as a hero. Political events led to his father sentencing Kallen to death and though Otto tried to save her, it backfired and she was killed by the Honkai beasts released to act as a diversion for her escape. Through various means, Otto has been alive for hundreds of years, and has spent that time with only two goals: Stop Honkai, and bring Kallen back to life. This is the end of his story, where he realized it's impossible to bring someone back to life, but by sacrificing himself, he was able to create a branch in the timeline where she survived that day. The "other future" that "belongs to her." The montage at the end are scenes from Otto's life. A few are from the game, or scenes from the game that have been animated here, but others are from the Second Eruption manga (READ IT) and the visual novels. Trivia: Honkai resistance is much more commonly found in women than in men, so most of the soldiers who fight against Honkai are women called Valkyries. There are men as well, called Knights, but they are extremely rare. Otto is not a Knight, but Kiana's father was. Welt, also, is not a Knight, as he is a Herrscher. Kevin isn't a Knight either, he's a MANTIS. So, yeah, Knights are very very rare.

thank god someone explained before i tried. Honestly, Otto has a pretty complicated story but i would summarized as he lost his love and he became an immortal villain in order to collect the power to save her in the past by sacrificying himself.

Maybe after reacting to 'Because of You' I recommend watching any of the first 2 concerts (Starfire Sonorant or Dreamy Euphony). For the most recent concert (3rd: Forest Capriccio) I recommend rreacting to them after at least finishing reaction to 'Graduation Trip' animated short. To give you a feel for which one you would prefer to watch first among the concerts, Starfire Sonorant gives a true "live concert" vibe, while the latter 2 are very much like pre-recorded and AR/VR edited version but perfection and phenomenal none-the-less (and emotional)

Honestly, the in-game monologue Otto Apocalypse has before this animation is the emotional meat of everything this animation presents. Otto is a despicable man and yet I still respect him. He knows he's despicable and he's not prideful about it. He hates himself, but he can't put aside his own desires. He is the root cause of suffering for many of the characters in Honkai Impact 3rd. And he knows it. When he finally figured out how to get what he wants without dooming the world or harming anyone else, he realised that those he's harmed in the past won't believe him or choose to work with him (understandably) and so he devises a plan to trick the heroes into getting him what he wants without putting the world at risk. There's a laundry list of messed up things he's done, one of which you actually saw in Shattered Samsara. "I wasn't lying" in Fu Hua's memory was him. He backstabbed her and shot her in the head. But as a friend. He knew he could bring her back so he essentially just took her out of commission. Many people he's worked against he refers to as his friends. It's twisted and weird and yet I still find myself respecting him. Not condoning his actions; just respecting him. Many of the characters in the game also have mixed feelings towards him as he is a father figure to a few of them and they have had to wrangle with the cognitive dissonance of their father figure being a horrible person with a good side. Also, Himeko dying in Final Lesson was orchestrated by Otto. He knows the power of love trumps all and uses it to solve a problem he himself caused to further his ulterior motives. Fun fact: Otto has sent nukes twice, both times to get rid of loose ends and sway public perception. Also, some of the scenes in the ending part of the animation are 2D animated versions of events in the game or in the related manga and visual novels (of which a lot of the story is buried in there).

He is directly and pretty much singlehandedly responsible for pretty much every tragedy in the previous animated shorts. I still remember the first time I truly realized how insane he was, he was talking like a parody of some kind crazed shonen protagonist, except twisted and backwards as he unveiled how the valkyries would sacrifice everything to bring back their friend, defeat the honkai with love, and how he planned it all, knowing full well they would die in the process. Counting on it, actually. But damn if we wouldn't all do the same thing if we had a conviction half as strong as his.

Otto character written beyond good, you hate him, you respect him, you feel for him. He will go above and beyond to achieve his one and only goal. As for the concert, highly recommend “dreamy euphony”

Those weren't exactly cutscenes at the end, this is the first time they were animated like this. These animated shorts were big "Finales" to story arcs, played as a cutscene in the game. All the little things you see weren't old cutscenes, but retelling a bunch of things that did happen in the story already in much nicer detail in this one. Originally they may have been in visual novel format, still artwork, or in mangas. Of course, because we only get one of these every 6+ months, thats why they put so much effort into them. A full anime or game of this level of quality would cost a fortune, completely unrealistic unfortunately. It is obvious they have learned from it though, so the normal cutscenes and in-game scenes have been improving in quality constantly, across all their games. Next one, a bit crazy, will be "Because of You", which will seem like a totally different game... you'll be missing a lot of context 🤣 Its probably my favourite, the animators went crazy for it.

It’s such a truly beautiful song and ending credits scene for such a compelling and interesting villain. Someone who went through so much just to try to make a life for the one who gave him a reason to care and live. It’s a story that, even through all his evil, still drives a person to tears through his pain and struggles. And, agreed with a few I’ve seen already, you absolutely should do “Because of You” before any concerts.

The next animation is "New Arc Trailer [Pre-Revelation] Japanese dub". This animation is before Thus Spoke Apocalypse Animation so you missed this animation. So watch it with "Because of You" Animation Japanese dub in one video. Make sure to watch the Because of You animation first before watching the concert. I recommend you to watch HI3 Dreamy Euphony Concert first for better quality but if want to watch the very first concert is Starfire Sonorant Concert. Here is the order 1. Starfire Sonorant 2. Dreamy Euphony 3. Forest Capriccio

A short summary is basically, Otto (the blonde dude) is devoted to Kallen (White haired woman) and puts her on a pedestal. She dies, he spends the next 500 years doing stuff before finding a way to go back in time and creating a new timeline just so she can survive. Also he kind of gets wiped from existence when he did that

When it comes for Hoyoverse games, there is no real villain, everyone has their own agenda. Although for the messed up things he did, Otto Apocalypse is the villain that succeeded. He managed to reach his goal at the end, yet somehow the end result was beneficial for the heroes; it was "one of the most selfish thing to do." I think that is a good explanation without going into details.

You also missed out on the animation before this one called Pre-Revelation. It's like Reawakening in that it's a trailer for the whole arc that follows. After this, you should check out Because of You. The game is mostly told in Visual Novel format. The boss fights have a lot more real-time storytelling and is amazing (shout out to the Kiana vs Mei boss fight before Lament of the Fallen which is more impactful than the animation itself in my opinion). The story is also told through many many tie-in Manga and Visual Novels that explain backstory information that occurs off-screen or before the game's story.

The guy you see here is the villain of the series. He’s a scientist who has given himself immortality for his one goal. He’s been the orchestrator for all the pain and deaths the characters we love have gone through. This video is where his plans come to fruition and he gets exactly what he wanted. Even though all us fans have hated this guy for all that he’s done, we all respect his drive to do what he did all for the person he loved. Never once giving up and never once faltering even after centuries had passed. The whole game isn’t animated this way. These videos are basically just the cutscenes that we get at the end of some of the chapters.

Most of the story is closer to Visual Novels with good artwork but later chapters they do a lot more in engine cutscene as well although not at the level of these. The parts in that real you were referencing are animated versions of either the manga's or earlier parts of the story reanimated for this section.

There were two osts that played in this one, the first was Iras 17514 and is one of my favourites! The second was Regression which you have done a reaction for in the past. As for the flashback moments you referred to, those were mainly just for the animation, but contained story points from the game and manga. I would recommend Dreamy Euphony being the first concert, but I am actually not far enough yet for other concerts so I haven’t seen those yet :)

Otto. To humanity and others, he is a villain, a devil who can sell out the whole world for his own purposes. But for love, he is symbolizes loyalty, a willingness to sacrifice everything, a love that cannot be worn away by time. We may hate him, but we also give him respect for what he still preserves.

- Crazy (initially less than later ^^) inventor tried to save the love of his life, fucked up and got her killed instead. - Driven by guilt and regret, he schemes for 500 years to get technology and opportunity to change history in a sort of alternate timeline to save the woman. - In the process - to reach his goal - he stops at nothing. Throws out morals, fucks up the lives of people around him and even goes as far as gambling like the whole of humanity to reach HIS one goal. - In a way he succeeds, gets basically killed, so for a moment he 'leaves' the limitations of the cosmological rule/force that is connected to the Honkai for 'living beings' and with help of the technology and artifacts collected over the centuries manages to influence the (let's call it) world-tree from 'outside the system' to modify one of the alternate universes to save her... Thus the final line; "This is the most selfish thing one can do." The rest was guessed quite correctly - the animation shows his final fight and the history of how the woman died - and how he basically sacrifices himself to create a timeline where she survives. The ending shows flashbacks of his memories - of his childhood being friends with her, and all that happened in his life afterwards that got him to that point. PS.: (In case he sees it) No, the 'regular' presentation of HI3 story is FAR from those cutscenes. Those are mostly made for the conclusion of full story arcs and were also done later. Some of them didn't even exist in the early days of the game and were added later. You really shouldn't expect the game being a cinematic experience - it still is for most parts (especially the beginning/older story parts) a 'dated' gacha-/mobile-game - but at least there is somewhat consistent voice acting. The story still is amazing and the 'external media' like those animations just outright stunning in production quality - but you better don't expect this being the full-time experience of the game, otherwise you might be a bit disappointed playing it. ;)

Some scene in credit is from: 10:00 Kallen Death, then Otto killed his father to take over as new Overseer, then he research the zombify Eleanor Schariac to learn about Honkai is a scene in manga Elan Palatinus arc. 10:08 Otto taking the coma Sushang during the event at Mount Taixuan in Shattered Samsara VN. 10:10 The clash opinion between Otto & Welt Joyce in Anti-Entropy VN. 10:32 During Theresa Origin arc where Theresa been force to fight survival battle against her other clone (Chronicles Chapter in game) ps: The cruels thing Otto do in my opinion. 10:34 scene is from Second Impact arc manga where Sirin the 2nd Herrscher was awaken and Otto receive revelation from the Will of Honkai. 10:37 Kiana Kaslana clone (K-423) was born in the last chapter of 2nd Impact manga. 10:39 Kiana try to save the Arc City from been bomb by World Serpent (Arc City arc in game) 10:40 Otto make a deal with Kevin (Prologue before Nagazora arc in game) 10:43 is just an extra scene to show that Otto has get all what he need to accomplish his true objective. PS: All those scene isn't all the bad thing he do though. Especially Durandal because it was consider as spoiler.

personally the 2nd concert my favorite but all 3 are great Otto is one of the greatest villains i've ever seen and a god damn bastard, but i will always respect what he was able to accomplish. if you want to know more about him there is a "Honkai Chronicles" for him but be warned it has very heavy spoilers the ending bits are animations of moments outside the main game in side content and the manga rather then in game cutscenes. However, MiHoYo has indeed started adding little cutscenes into the story starting with the Origin and Finality arc of part 1 but they aren't the quality of the shorts and instead use in game models and animations

12:30 those are not cutscenes from the game, just important events that happened and crucial to who he is that got animated specifically for this one animated short and that not exist outside of it. They do have mini cutscenes though, not oncluded in almost any playlist, like you assumed. The game is more similar to a animated novel than a movie though, so it has animations here and there but it’s mainly text, 3d models speaking, CG Images, fighting cutscenes and Animated Shorts.

Answering all of your questions about animation, game and music: - Honkai Impact 3rd is more like blend of action game/visual novel. There are animated scenes in missions, but usually it's a lot more simpler ones. Those flashbacks in second part of this animated short are scenes from the game itself, reanimated older pieces and Honkai Impact 3rd manga. - All animated shorts are made in collaboration with actual animation studios. HoYo knew they don't have resources to do it all by themselves so they found that working in collaboration with animation studios works better for a company. Inhouse animation team (miHoYo anime) draws storyboard and gives directions to contractor. After a series of revisions and corrections we get those amazing animated shorts. - I may be wrong, but all music and songs in HOYO games are their own and produced by HOYO-MIX (musical sub-division). Lot's of OST include vocals of VA (for example Bronia's in Cyberangel: Zero Exception).

For the concert maybe you can start with dreamy euphony or either cappricio. For context who is the man on the cutscene name is otto appocallypse one of main antagonist in the game. And other cutscene in the game is more like to visual novel / 1 picture with so much text and dialogue, some maybe is bit animated as well, but not as good as all the cutscene you have seen in the playlist. *spoiler* He became villain just to resurrect the women (her name is kallen). She died, otto can't let her go, so he search any sort of method to ressurect her, and he even make his life last longer. The gap between when the women died and the current timeline is 500 years and he still alive (i forget how, but maybe because of the contract with the void archive) In the end of that cutscene, he make another timeline for kallen at cost of his existence. If you remember the 2nd and 3rd cutscene (befall and final lesson) the mastermind of that incident is him, and that on one of many bad thing he do just only to resurrect kallen. Cmiiw

Another great reaction, saddly you didn't watch the trailer before that that shows some of Otto's motive. About the cgs, we dont have it animated, but they use ingame characters to do things, those scenes were from various part of this game, the manga included, yes we have a series of mangas. My sugestion for the next is a combo if possible, its a arc about 13 new characters and watching the 2 trailers before the animation will introduce them briefly. 2 trailers - "★New Concept Trailer: [Elysian Realm]★" and "New Concept Trailer: Into the Deep" then the animation - "Animated Short: Because of You" About the concert, it should be in order of release, the first one is "Starfire Sonorant" did during the covid pandemic.

So for Honkai Impact, you have the main story of the game with mostly just static dialog's in between to convey the story, and for some missions just a simple PNG to show a current situation. But then, Chapter 8 onward, every few chapters will end in one of those AMAZING animations, and it is meant for a huge moment in the story. And at no point do they miss with those. And as amazing as they are when watching them normally, they hit so much harder when playing the game. And with the next update, we might be getting close to seeing such animations actually done ingame

Otto is my favorite character in life. He got right into my soul. No, I do not condone his actions, but I fully understand them, I bow to his determination. No matter how much of an asshole he is, he is my favorite, the asshole closest to my heart... All he needed was a couple of close people who could save him, but he only had her... This is definitely the best antagonist in history and the best character that Mihoyo has created. Not everyone can understand him, someone just calls him a clown, not understanding the irony. No, it's not just "I love her and I want her back." To fully understand this character, many do not even have enough of the entire game and manga, but these are ordinary fools. You have to be without a brain and soul not to call him the best antagonist of mihoyo

He's a man of many names to be called: a clown, a fool, a villain, and a manipulative Mother fu**er. But the only redemption i could respect him he's: a man of conviction and determination to reach his one and only goal by any means at all cost. As much as I totally hate him, one could only agreed of a fact he's a pretty capable leader. Dudes been a leader of the most influential organization for 500+ years, controlling the world and safeguarding it from the threat even if it is just a stepping stone to reach his goal, not like he's doing it for humanity.

Otto. The man who we all hate, yet all love. So stubborn to revive Kallen, he made a plan that lasted 500 years to find a method to bring her back to life, and caused almost every event that happened in the main game because of it.

Also what you say during final seconds of short made me understand that there is clearly preparated the base for movie about Otto (the male character in the short). The reason for your confusion is Otto's story in X years (maybe someone already spoiled it but I won't) showed as fragmented pieces. Part of them isn't even SHOWN in the game. Something is shown in main story, something you can read in different in-game document, the rest is in out-of-game content (including mangas, visual novels and... something else, don't remember what). Unfortunately in-game cutscenes isn't animated on the same level as animated shorts. Mobile game can't allow it to itself (yes, you watch, you think it's anime but it's a game and not some PC game but mobile one). About Honkai Impact concerts. In terms of animated shorts you are completely ready for 1st one, "Starfire Sonorant". Shame you didn't react to any version/battlesuit trailer but we made you to do it eventually [sounds of evil laugh 😈]. For 2nd concert you still need to watch at least animated short "Because of you". For the next Honkai video I vote for following "method": you streeming on Twitch full 1st concert and uploading record of that streem on KZfaq by parts in next several weaks. This will let you some additional free time for your doings (I hope it will) and for people like me it will let to see your concert reaction almost "in one breath" (due to time difference I am unable to be on your streems). I... overdid it a bit... and now it looks like kind of short essay or anything. Have a good day, to you and anyone else who read it to this point.

There are not so much more cinematic, there are a few 1.5 min long, a few story trailer, and these major "story part" ending ones. About music, there are all these songs, plus the trailer musics, yeah, those also, and many many more from previous game (GGZ). "Hoshi to Kimi ga kieta hi" or "Sen'nen no hane" are songs you must listen. And there are plenty more.

I have never played HI3 and this short is the sole reason for it (I lie, I also love my wallet) . I don't know if this is controversial nor do I actually fully understand the story, but if this is what Otto was going to do, then Hoyo should've at least made a canon timeline where Kallen and Otto did end up together. Yeah, but who am I to say anything having never played the game

Otto (and I've been using Otto since the late 80s) is, in my mind, one of the best written antagonist/villain I have encountered in any media. He has caused untold suffering. Killed, through his actions, countless people. Yet, he left Schicksal strong enough and with leadership good enough to not only contend with the Honkai but with 'other' enemies. Honestly, I hate the man but wow did the writers do a great job! Bravo #hoyoverse

The next one, Honkai Impact 3rd Animated Short: Because of You, will be by far the most confusing one so far. 13 new characters added just like that lol. Notes for Thus Spoke Apocalypse: -Men in Honkai Impact are few but very commonly badass. -3D = present time, 2D = past. -The scenes when OST Regression starts playing are original to Thus Spoke Apocalypse (except for the 2 seconds where Kiana is shown from Meteoric Salvation). They are mostly from Manga telling the backstory of Otto and his clown activities -Most the "in-game" cutscenes are using the game engine, much like genshin -As you can see from most the comments so far, Otto is pretty universally hated, and still somehow garners respect. He is the embodiment of "Anything for her." Glad you're loving them. 3 more major ones. and 1 shorter one that you really can't miss since its just too epic to not get your reaction.

Okay so without going into too spoiler heavy, spoilers will be after separated by a warning for those that don't want to know, he was the "villain" throughout most of the game for 500 years trying to bring about an alternative universe/future where his one and only friend as well as the love of his live would be able to live even if he couldn't live with her. SPOILER WARNING YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED everything that happened to the other characters and their misfortune was directly caused by him in order to bring about his goals. thus in the scenes shown he is responsible for almost all of what Kiana has gone through and his adopted grandchild after he tried making clones of Kallen and forced them to kill each other she was the only one who refused his order but a clone of Kallen isn't her because although the clone, Theresa Apocalypse, is the closest one can be to a reincarnation of Kallen she doesn't have any memories of being her and thus isn't her. There's a lot more going on but I haven't played yet myself and don't want to get things wrong due to that.

Ah, yes. The best clown in video game history. One the best antagonists in fiction and the man who chosed to sacrifice the whole world to save one person he adored the most. I simply can't bring myself to not hate Otto becuase he did so many disgusting and inhuman things that even certain Australian painter would be jelaous. But you also just can't ignore all the stuff he's been through and not give him some respect for the dedication this man had. Some might call him a villain, some might call him a hero or anti-hero, but in reality - it doesn't matter. He's a selfish person that did a lot of selfish things, a lot of very egoistic and selfish things, because - he is a Human, after all.
