Exactly. Given her age, there were no self-checkouts in supermarkets in the US at the time. So she would have had to stand in line to get rung up by a cashier. There were all sort of magazines at the checkout. There was basically no internet (the high-speed way we have it now)....so TV, radio, and printed publications were the only form of news/gossip. I had the same situation with my son and a crazy woman who abused him, and after five years I stepped in and had a talk with her and the relationship ended. My son was to the point he couldn’t even look me in the eye anymore and then I knew for sure. It took a good year for my son to see what had happened to him. Sorry if this is too much TMI.

Another good example would be the Beckham’s docuseries, most of their series was a build up to how they ended up coming out of their struggles. They didn’t stay stuck in the ‘Woah is me’ victimhood mantra, if they did have to vent, it was a variety of emotions from resentment, tiredness, to reminiscing. The couple ended up being refreshing in how they were transparent enough to connect to others, and better yet they faced their struggles head on, by the end everyone couldn’t help but root for them. Or even comparing Spare to Britney Spear’s latest book where her life was a struggle because of outside forces controlling every aspect of her life. Her book became a fight for herself, something that is valuable to learn. The Harkles instead went victim mode and became spiteful towards anyone who questioned their true motives. What’s worse is their self destructive behavior is hurting many people internationally. They complain and whine but they are the source of everyone’s grief.
