Today I'm going all the way back to the beginning and reacting to my very first haul. This video was filmed when I was majorly in debt, impulse buying weekly, and using clothing and shopping to escape the reality I was creating for myself. Today, I'll be debt free in about 3 months, I've minimized my closet substantially, and I've developed a much healthier and kinder relationship with myself.
Looking back, how much have you grown this year? It's probably more than you realize!

How many total clothes do you have? I don’t think you’ve done a video of like that before, you did try on all your clothes but I don’t remember if you said actually the total number of pieces you own? Or you’ve done like “spring capsule 25 pieces” but never the total number of ALLL the clothes you have like a clothing inventory? PLEAAEE PLEASEEE would love if you could do a video of this ❤❤❤❤

I think hauls are very much still popular. I also thought people were moving towards minimalism but I think it's the cohort of youtubers I watch. When I venture outside of my cohort, I find people still loooove hauls. PR hauls, hype clothing hauls, online fast fashion hauls- still loved and lots of views! I also find as you change, your subscriptions change and you tend to follow people that reflect your values.

It takes guts and real maturity to acknowledge our toxic behaviours. It’s important that we be kind to ourselves in the process :)

Some behaviors may be toxic, but in my mind at least, that word still seems to carry too much harsh judgment. None of us are ever really "toxic". We're just flawed, imperfect and human. Labels perpetuate stigma and I don't want to be on the side of perpetuating that

This is such a brave video and is why your channel is so great. It is so hard to look back and address past mistakes, never mind addressing them publicly. It is also great that you do it in such a positive and focused way and don't just bash yourself for the sake of it because it is so easy to become overly negative in this kind of situation.

"shopping the pain away", wow. definitely am recovering from that habit. anytime i was experiencing stress from work or feeling defeated about something that happened in the workplace, i would go and buy something small (sometimes not) to make me "feel better" but it all adds up over time. your channel and outlook is refreshing in a sea of shopaholics.

I really identify with this journey. Three or four years ago when I got my first full time job I was spending more than my disposable income on clothing and makeup. Now I really think about things for a while before buying, sometimes not even buying things at all. I feel progress and I feel like I am making life long decisions. We’ve purchased a new-ish car this year and it’s a hybrid (my dream). I was able to buy it because of the work I have been doing on paring down my excess.

I have spent decades buying literally hundreds of pairs of jeans looking for the “perfect” pair, so your comments about searching for the perfect thing really resonated with me. I realise now that I’m looking for that holy grail pair that makes me look like the women whose style I admire, and it ain’t gonna happen! It’s been a hard lesson to learn and to accept that I’m only ever going to look as good as I can, with my body. No pair of jeans is going to make my legs physically longer or my butt smaller or my hips more narrow. I do still try new jeans but now at least I make sure I only buy from retailers that offer a full refund.

This is such a great video. I so appreciate you giving the commentary on what was really behind your original comments. I watch a lot of haul videos as my “pre-shopping” stage. But now I can see how many of the comments can be quite toss off and not what I am really looking for. I’ve been watching your videos for quite a while and love the way you are growing your content. the video showed me where I am and where I would like to be ... in my head my adult self is struggling with the shopping addiction and right now i am comparable to a quarterly drunkard. I overspend, I get "a little crazy shopping". then the guilt runs in and the money runs out. Then I pull myself together again for 1-2 months, only to heavily escalate again ...

Yes I totally get that behaviour of being ‘on the hunt’ for duplicates of items that work well. Or to try to improve on the one you already have. I have bought so many things online that I thought would be perfect but turned out not to be. I’ve also bought a lot of duplicates of styles that I like often in smaller sizes for ‘when I lose weight’; or the same item in different colours. Sometimes that has been worthwhile and sometimes not.

it takes courage to post something this real and you really do look like you have inner peace now I came across your channel I guess when you declared openly that you were in debt and wanted to be more intentional and it's been interesting to see you document this minimalism journey

Awesome video! What growth in such a relatively short period of time. When it comes to being "on the hunt" for something: Better is the enemy of Good.

Everyone has a cringe past. It's cool to see yourself grow though. I think hauls are still big for home stuff and organizers before people even figure out what they need. Declutters and rebuys too. Like a binge and purge addiction.

really fascinating reflection - your nervousness about "how bad was it" was interesting to watch dissipate as it unfolded. Thanks for that real visit of your own past :-)
