The rant was so funny 😅 I stopped caring about the presentation of my books when I was 12 when my baby brother threw Goblet of Fire into the (clean!!) toilet.... It spent so many weeks drying out in the hot water cupboard, we had to tape the spine back together and it was wrinkled like nobody's business and we had to keep taping individual pages back in it but we couldn't afford another copy so whatever!! And now, as long as the pages are intact and in the correct order? who cares lol

I laughed at your self-criticism of sounding scripted. I just started Youtubing, and I only made notes once and it was so hard to follow them. But when I shoot several takes to get a video done I end up forgetting whether or not I said everything or say things twice. I need to work more on editing so that I can piece my videos together from several different takes. I love the fact that you prefer to sound conversational. Keep it up.

Oh my GAWSHHH!!!! YT-origins!Merphy was so young, it's so freaking adorable, I can't even; And that ACCENT!! 💜💜💜💜 I LOVE IT. Lol ^-^ I know I'm super late to watching this, but - hey - I've only been watching booktube in general for a year or two now and only just stumbled across this, so I am not ashamed. I don't know why, but this really really brought some smiles to me 🙂 Thank you for sharing, and for being so kind/gentle / fond(Gracious? idk!) with your own past self.^-^ lol This was nice to see! I am not over the fact that you used to read Ted Dekker!!! 😹😹🥰🤣 ((honestly, SAME; but that 'haven't read any of his recent releases' bit is also SO relatable😅🤭)) I've been considering [possibly ]starting up a little something of my own channel myself lately, so .. seeing where one of my most-oft-watched channels started out themself is...I dunno? Reassuring?? Somehow ? If that makes sense.💜 I also want to apologize for being one of those people whose first impression of you was that you were maybe a little dishonest or insincere or something, although at the time I had no actual or conrete reason why something just vibed a little bit off to me. I think it might have been the fact that when I first started watching you, I was catching mostly review videos in which you were still using a rating system - which, in hindsight, knowing now your issues with ratings and all . . gives me pause to theorize .. that might have had something to do with it? (Possibly combined with the fact that, at times, we do have very contrasting opinions about some things and perhaps that subconsciously colored my perception of you a little bit..unfairly..more than I had realized. But I actually really enjoy exploring perspectives that differ from my own, almost expressly to challenge &/or expand my own views a little.) In any case: I am sincerely sorry, for my initial bad impression of you - I have since come to quite a different and much better impression of you, after watching more of your videos in general as well as much more recent videos from you. 💖💖 Wishing you a good 2021; and looking forward to what future content you'll surely bring!

Haha, young Merphy would probably hate me. I borrowed a book from my brother once and apparently it was in a terrible state when I gave it back and since then my siblings don't want me to read their books anymore haha. The thing is just... I have a job, I put my books in my bag and read on the train and that just damages them. To be honest, I do not really care about a book looking new or anything, it is the story that counts. If one of my books looks terrible, it probably means it is a good book because I have been reading it a lot. This being said, I try to be careful with books that are not mine because obviously it sucks to ruin someone else's belongings. But personally, I do not really care about that stuff (even though I like reading).

I'm absolutely with Old Merphy on the subject of book lending. Anatole France said "Never lend books, for no one ever returns them; the only books I have in my library are books that other folks have lent me." Whenever I do "lend" a book, I do so with the expectation that I'll never see that copy again. I'm pretty sure my English teacher from 16 years ago still has my first copy of Reaper Man. Also, pretty pleased with myself because I've had you pegged as a Christian from the first video of yours that I saw - on the basis of zero evidence - and I'm taking your nonfiction picks as confirmation.
