The fact that you were able to dress gothic at 12 and younger is amazing and mind blowing to me, I’m 14 and my mom would barely let me wear a slightly gothic outfit without freaking out and commenting negatively about it. Lmao can’t wait to buy my own things without someone having a say in what I’m allowed and not allowed to get.

I know you wrote this a year ago, but I hope your mom has lightened up a bit :) My mom won't let me dye my hair black, so I've gone with the darkest purple I can--if you can find ways to get close to what you really want, it might help you feel more like yourself

@@LaRocheSews omggg I forgot I wrote this comment hahah! But actually my mom has let up drastically. There’s still a lot of things that she’s iffy about, but since it’s been over a year, she just naturally adjusted. Now I have the chokers, fishnets, dramatic eyeliner, darker clothing..blah blah blah.. hopefully I’ll be able to fully express myself even more over time!

I hope you can continue to express yourself 😊 People do eventually adjust-my family (especially my brothers) were pretty strange when I started dying my hair, but since then I’ve been slowly trying to get them more used to me dressing alternative, and lately I’ve been trying to speed up my full cross into alternative clothing, but it’s difficult in covid. 🖤

I know you don't really have time for this, but a recreation of one of your cyber goth outfits would be really awesome. You could even try to remake some of your dreads and or cyber locks. That might be a good idea for your goth on a dime type thing. It also would count as a crafty thing to do. Thanks again for sharing yourself with us.

It's actually really nice to see photos of other baby bats, especially in their very beginning stages before they honed their outfit/hair/makeup skills. It makes the fact that I started out with ripped jeans and band tees less depressing to me, lol

Commenting on this years after it was posted, but I love that you were “allowed” to dress goth at such a young age! My parents were (still are) soooo strict, and now, even at the age of 27, I’m struggling to break free from my anxieties of them and how they will react to my appearance. I know they in reality have no say, but I still live in fear and restrict myself from fully expressing myself to the extent that I want to.

My fav pic was the orange striped socks and the ghost sweater. I loved those orange bows. I think it because you looked like you had pigtails. I HATED when my family used to ask me to "tone it down" if we were all going out. It was usually my Nana and my dad. My mother eventually started telling them to shut up lol and THEN I started telling them to shut up and dressed how I wanted.
