True story, a very proud teenager bought a rabbit and a cage from the local pet store with her very 1st paycheck! (1987 is the year) I was so excited and loved that beautiful spotted mini lop bunny. She potty trained herself in a flower pot and I thought she was brilliant as no one ever mentioned it was possible. She died within 4 months. I was so sad and blamed my mother for years (I may not of asked permission... feel in love on site!) Fast forward to adulthood and I learned they need hay! I was like HAY, why? I had NO IDEA and the pet store never said a thing, gave me pellets. I forgave my mom and stopped shopping a pet food chains! I tell everyone this story for their FYI😕

I personally only feed my rabbits an 1/8 cup of pellets per day. I use Sherwood pellets which are solely a timothy based food and is free of any fillers such as wheat or soy. It is not sweetened either. Vegetables definitely have varying nutritional value and such, so I personally prefer to supplement their diet with a small amount of this complete pellet daily

wow, i never knew it's hard to bond two female rabbits. i have two and neither are spayed bc they are too old for it and i never knew about getting them fixed until i got my second rabbit. i just put one of my rabbits in the cage with the other and the older rabbt absolutely thinks the younger one is her baby. she grooms her and everything. im glad i never had a problem with bonding them.

The guide promotes what they sell. The cage dimensions probably match some cage they sell. Eat mostly pellets that they sell instead of greens. Types of hay probably match what they sell. Sounds like a sales guide to me with some facts thrown in.

The 'bunnies can be 90% litter-box trained' thing made me laugh. In general, yes. But there's also some bunnies that are just out of control. One of my (now elderly) bunnies has had an incredibly weak bladder for YEARS and keeps peeing all around the room (he also picked up the habbit of slobbering up his pee sometime in the last two years. Ew.) One of the others just really likes getting comfy on my couch and using that as a litter box. Or me. That happened today. Right on my chest. (They have their spacey enclosure in the living room, but the couch is now fenced of to them most of the time, because I can't always keep it covered with picnic blankets. Which, by the way, lifehack: Picnic blankets are large, usually waterproof, pretty and usually washable. Great bunny-proof covers or blankets.) Love the video, very informative!

I have 2 rabbits and take them to the park often on harnesses. I believe it matters which harness the rabbit is wearing, and I highly advise using a stretchy leash, so there is no tension if the rabbit decides to bult. Also, there are specific harnesses made for rabbits on amazon and etsy.

You can litterbox train intact males...Or I should say some of them will decide they want that on their own haha. I rescued a male palomino from outside, he's getting fixed soon, but he's not now and he used the box the first day I was kind of amazed. He's a very clean rabbit and loses his mind if another one messes up his enclosure.

Ok, so I get why you stressed the heatstroke issue because it's super important. However, I think my rabbits are freaks who like heat because my house has a sunroom which will get into the high 80s regularly. It has white tile flooring. My bunnies will go out there and lay in the shade at high noon to take a nap OFTEN even though they have free roam of the entire house which is significantly cooler during the day. I think it depends a lot on what the rabbit is used to/adapted to or grown up with as far as heat goes but I could be wrong. My rabbits get mad at me though when I've tried to offer the cool water bottle. They want nothing to do with it. The tiles are enough for them.

Many many years ago, no idea how old I was really but maybe 7? My grandma got me a lop eared rabbit (Cinnamon). My grandma grew up on a farm, so the only way she knew to take care of a rabbit was to keep it in a hutch outside. So at the beginning of his life he was an outdoor rabbit, and I would take him out on a harness to hop around and nibble at the grass. Thankfully he was never hurt, but he never bolted at anything scary. Probably a 7(ish) year old being his primary carer desensitized him to all kinds of sudden movements and scary things, bless his little heart. He would just hop around. Later in his life we didn't do that anymore because we moved and got a house where he could have more of what people use now for bunnies, an indoor area fenced in with a doggie pen. He still had a multi-story hutch, he could just hop in and whenever he wanted to. Idk why it was imprinted on us that rabbits need a hutch, but that's how it was lol Uh, anyway, all this is all backstory to say, I don't know about now, but back then the leashes they would have with the harnesses were very very stretchy. At very slight pressure is would stretch, so actually Cinnamon never had any rough pressure on him when he was on his harness and at least people made that effort with the leashes. If he ever started hopping off somewhere he wasn't supposed to go he would get the lightest pressure possible on his harness, and would then hop somewhere else to eat his grass. I still 100% agree I'd never recommend this now, he didn't happen to, but if he had gotten scared and tried to bolt, or even if accidental pressure was put on him, he could have gotten very hurt.

I personally let my dog and rabbits interact (supervised) I dont do this to make them play with eachother or anything like that but I do it so if my dog ever got out she would not harass or kill the rabbits. She is a very old dog but is a hunting dog with a prey drive (she is very well trained). She mostly ignores the rabbits lol.

My girls weight is actually pretty sensitive so we feed her pellets to keep a healthy weight (rabbit savvy vet approved!) But we only give her about a tablespoon Tuesday through Friday. So like, 4 tablespoons a week and that's what keeps my lionhead a healthy 4.5lb 😊 but she's definitely special!
