When people first encounter Babymetal, they're often not ready for just how metal they actually are. They expect the cute Jpop side of their performance, but the serious metal band that backs them and how heavy the music is often surprises people. Babymetal always straddle the line between saccharine J-pop and chugging metal riffs, but at various times they swing back and forth from song to song in what they emphasize. Babymetal are legendary for their assault on the senses live performances with costumes, moving stages, elaborate lighting shows, video walls (and dance floor), and live wire dancing. We kitsune (Babymetal fans) always recommend to watch their live performances whenever possible, because interacting with a live audience is where Babymetal shines brightest. As for what you should watch next, I'd suggest "Karate" @ Download 2016 (or @Budokan 2021), or "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" " Sonisphere 2014. You could also check out "Headbanger" or "Megitsune". Another Japanese group worth taking a look at is Gacharic Spin. They have a new song out called "Kachi Kachi Yama" that is very... well catchy.

Oh if you like diversity, you are in for a treat! Babymetal like to mix things up, and mash different genres! So you can just listen to their entire discography and struggle to find more than a few songs that are similar to each other :D Another band from Japan that I would like to recommend, is Maximum the Hormone! You could start from "Yoshu Fukushu"!

Great reaction, thanks and welcome to BABYMETAL. And congrats, you seem to have the proper mindset for BABYMETAL. I mean, "Gimme Chocolate" usually tends to be a very polarizing song since it's "just" a fun song about the girls wanting to eat chocolate but being a little worried about gaining some weight.... BUT the instrumentals are so freaking metal and that juxtaposition (as you perfectly pointed out) is exactly the point of the song. It was tailored this way to produce the biggest WTF reaction possible. And it worked. This music video went viral in 2014 and it helped them a lot on getting known worldwide. With that said, you need to know that they are extremely diverse musically speaking. Mixing many music genres with metal... sometimes in the same song. 😁 They are considered way better live because many reasons: Su-metal's (the lead vocalist) live vocals, the choreo, the stage production, their backing band (Kami Band) playing live, etc. Unfortunately this music video has the studio recording of the audio over the visuals from a concert (called Legend 1997) held in December 2013. It was this song's world premiere, by the way. The skeleton guys are not an actual band, they are called "babybones" and were there to pretend to play the instruments as the instrumentals were on a backing track while Su always sing live. It happened until early 2014 when the Kami Band replaced them for good. The reason is pragmatic: they couldn't afford an actual band at first. BABYMETAL are: - Suzuka Nakamoto as SU-METAL (lead vocals and dance). - Yui Mizuno as YUIMETAL(backing vocals and dance). She left in 2018 due health issues. She was with BABYMETAL from their origins in 2010 to 2018 (not performing since 2017). - Moa Kikuchi as MOAMETAL (backing vocals and dance). New official member since April 2023: - Momoko Okazaki as MOMOMETAL (backing vocals and dance). So let me suggest an actual live performance, from the same concert but with the Kami Band on stage (they came out for the encore): "Headbanger" (Live at Legend 1997): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h6ujgsR-x7Sqp6s.html Until next time! 🤘🦊

Great first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊'Gimme Chocolate' wouldn't have been my recommendation for a first listen as the main reason this video does have so many views is that shock factor with the brutal metal instrumentals and overly sweet JPop vocals clashing - deliberately so in this song, but it is great fun at live shows ... but if that actually appeals to you, then great choice!. They have about 60 songs now, each one different to the last. They have songs in virtually every metal genre (thrash, nu-metal, djent, black and death metal, Prog, folk, power/speed etc) and they will mix or blend in so many other musical styles and genres with the metal - not just JPop, you will find Latin, Bollywood, reggae, ska, EDM, trance, Finnish polka ... actually you name it they have probably done it. They have choreo for every song - and it is bespoke for every song serving two real purposes (unlike the choreo you may associate with most pop acts). 1) It is interpretive of the lyrics or the meaning of the song - which is helpful for those of us who do not speak Japanese. 2) It is designed to involve and lead the crowd. Their crowd control is second to none and the crowd get their cues from the girls, they jump when the girls jump, pump their fists, shout, sing along etc when they get the signal from the girls. The instrumentalists (they were not in this video) for all live shows are the Kami Band, some of Japan's very best session musicians. They first appeared in October 2012 and were gradually phased in over the next year or more playing at a couple of festivals and the encores in some concerts (including the one in December 2013 where the Gimme Chocolate video was filmed - they were not on stage yet in this one, the guys in skeleton suits - Babybones - were miming the instrumentals to a pre-recorded backing track and they were just there for show, BABYMETAL didn't always have the budget for live musicians. The vocals were live in the live performance of course). There have been many musicians play with the Kami band - they all have their own bands and projects and there are musicians who will swap in and out depending on their availability. They have had the same hard core of about half a dozen musicians play the vast majority of concerts since they became the full time support for all live shows in March 2014 - they are; Guitarists (2 for each show) - Mikio Fujioka (RIP January 2018), Takayoshi Ohmura, Leda Cygnus and ISAO. Bass - BOH Drums - Hideki Aoyama Since 2019, for the lengthy tours of the US and Europe, the Kami Band of the West (American musicians) have supported BABYMETAL. They are guitarists Chris Kelly and CJ Masciantonio, bassist Clint Tustin and drummer Anthony Barone. BABYMETAL was formed around the vocal talents and stage presence of the lead vocalist Su-metal ... she was still only 12 in 2010 and she was already exceptionally talented - she has just got better every year since and is a great front person. Moametal and Yuimetal were only 11 when they formed. Sadly Yui left in October 2018 for health reasons after a 12 month absence. Su and Moa continued as a duo for nearly 5 years, supported by any one of three dancers at live shows, until the 1st April this year when the last remaining dancer of the three, Momoko, was named as the official new third member and she was finally given a mic. BABYMETAL are one of the very best live acts you will see (and If you can get tickets for the BabyKlok US tour from August to October do not hesitate). For another reaction I would suggest their very first major event outside of Japan, the last song of the 5 they played as virtual unknowns with 50-60k UK metalheads to impress - 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' (Bullying, No More, For Ever) live at Sonisphere 2014. You will hear at the end as they walk off stage what the crowd thought of them. If you really want something that is mad and unpredictable, try the official video for the second song they released - 'Iine' (that is iine pronounced ee-neh, not Line).

Welcome to the Foxhole and BabyMetal journey 🦊🤘🔥 Now they got a metalverse but that's a more recent era so highly recommend to just wait to get there but in case you wanna know, they already released 5 singles from the new album "The Other One". Last month they started live concerts at Sabaton's Europe Tour as a special guests and everyone is having a blast with this song, either you hate or love it, is a song with crazy amount of views and they don't wanna leave behind in any of their setlist. Dance choreography and metal had never been seen before and they somehow managed to make it works creating their unique own genre called kawaii-metal, mixing Jpop and heavy metal along with many more sub genres and rhythms, you'll have so much fun going through this journey. This isn't actually live sound, is studio album version over a live performance which was partially live only on the vocals and choreography with backing track sound. They have their own band called Kami Band introduced later on that same show and after that Kami Band become regular at live performance. BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old when started this and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms. Their name is a reference to a new genre and not related to their ages or "baby" faces, is a pun intended play words with "heavy-metal" which sounds similar to "baby-metal". They are: *SuMetal* lead vocalist, now 25. *MoaMetal* scream and dance, now 23. *YuiMetal* scream and dance, former member since 2018. *MomoMetal* scream and dance, she's 20 and is the new official member since April 1st recently. None of them are related. After 2018 you'll see backup dancers performing along with them but none of them are official members, they don't sing, only dance, but that status change recently like i said. This was in December 2013 at SuMetal 16th Birthday, the other girls had 14 yo and there was a big party you have seen nothing yet, wait for _"Babymetal Death"_ Some recommendations for next songs like: - _"Road Of Resistance"_ live in Japan official. - _Catch Me If You Can_ live at Budokan 2014 (you got a safe to react version with subtitles at GuilhermeCait channel) or... - _Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!_ live at this same live performance Legend 1997 in Makuhari Messe Japan when SuMetal is celebrating her birthday becoming a metal goddess queen and leaving her idol jpop form (you can find one at Gans Tomas channel under "Head Bangya" title). You have more than 50 songs and still more to come. Amuse their label is very hard to deal so if you want to avoid copyright blocked you have *Babymetal Reactor Resource* channel you'll get full original clips of their best live performance with watermarked logo safe to react, look for "Future Plans" vid, follow instructions and you'll get all of them, upload the one with the logo for us and you can watch without it, don't worry for us we already saw all of them. See you next time! 🦊🤘🍫

You just found Japan's #1 International Group!! Now, for Babymetal, this one was probably their most "Poppy" song and has that high 'WTF' factor (hence why it went viral), but they have a wide mix of different genre's they mix with Heavy Metal and believe it or not, it even appeals to many Western Metal Fans!! Yep, they are popular in the West! Their last album back in 2019, Metal Galaxy, actually hit #1 on Billboards "Top Rock Album" Chart in the USA and also hit #13 on Billboard "Hot 200" Chart!!! I'll say what all Babymetal Fans will say....More Babymetal Always!!! Put your Kitsune UP!! Po!

👍 👍 BabyMetal began in 2010 there were Suzuka Nakamoto age 12 Moa Kikuchi and Yui Mizuno (Yui left in 2018 due to health reasons). Both Moa and Yui were 11 years old when the group began. All three were friends and classmates who attended an idol school/group (Sakura Gakuin) founded in 2010 by Amuse Talent Agency for girls 10 to 15. Themed around school life (they attended regular school as well) the girls would learn and train at vocals, dancing, public speaking and etiquette, etc., graduate at age 15 and then move onto whatever entertainment path they chose or that suited their talents. Key Kobayashi was a music producer for Amuse and heard Suzuka sing at age 9 and was impressed with her strong vocals and stage presence. Kobayashi was a fan of heavy metal but believed that the genre had become stale and tired (especially in Japan) with metal bands getting old Kobayashi believed the genre needed to be reborn (BabyMetal means the birth of a new metal genre). Kobayashi felt that Suzuka had the ability to front a metal band and that her vocals and presence could withstand the metal guitars and drums. The fusion of Jpop and Metal began. He placed Moa and Yui as backup singers/dancers and a phenomenon was about to result. At first Amuse showed no interest and the girls had only financing from Kobayashi. They performed at strip malls and small venues using clothes borrowed from friends and family. No money for a real band they had friends dressed in homemade skeleton costumes pretending to play instruments to a backtrack. They became a sensation (these young ladies paid their dues). Amuse saw the potential and in 2012 hired the best session musicians Japan had to offer (The Kami Band) who tours with them today (now includes world class musicians from the USA for tours outside of Asia). If you choose to explore more of BabyMetal I suggest reacting to LIVE performance videos as this is where they shine. They have over 50 LIVE songs/performances and each one is different. They are fearless exploring many genres and have the respect of the legends of Metal such as Metallica, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Judas Priest and more. Avoid Glastonbury LIVE performances as the sound production by the BBC (who was in charge of that festival did a terrible job - mics not turned on, incorrect volume levels, etc.) Suggest reacting to these for a start. Karate LIVE at 2016 Download Festival in the UK where 60,000+ British metal heads sing along with the girls. Megitsune LIVE at Budokan 2021 Syncopation LIVE Yava LIVE with Kami Band intro at 2017 Fox Festival Road of Resistance LIVE in Japan Headbanger LIVE Tales of the Destinies LIVE Catch Me If You Can LIVE with Kami Band intro At their concert in Yokohama on April 1 it was announced that a permanent third member Momoko Okazaki (who is also a graduate of Sakura Gakuin and has been appearing with them LIVE since 2019) has officially become the third member. Their new album in my opinion that released March 24 is amazing with so many different styles. Good luck and hope to see you again.

"Gimme Chocolate" is arguably the video that put them on the radar and it looks like your onboard for a trip down the foxhole: you'll find great songs, good songs and ones that aren't so good, you'll find triumph (Sonisphere 2014) and tragedy (the departure of Yuimetal in 2018 and the unfortunate death of Mikio Fujioka, guitarist of the BABYMETAL backing "Kami Band"), you'll find Black BABYMETAL (BBM), and you'll find that although BABYMETAL started a brand new genre of music ("kawaii metal"), they cannot be pigeon-holed - they are almost always thinking and moving outside box; they made metal FUN!. They have only a bit over sixty songs and you're sure to find most of them quite entertaining. I will be the first to agree with the One that BABYMETAL is best served live, but they have several music videos that are real works of art and definitely worth looking into (“Doki Doki Morning”, “Iine!”, “Megitsune”, “Karate”, and “BxMxC”. In my opinion, those are BABYMETAL’s best MV’s - so far!). I've compiled what I consider to be BABYMETAL's top twenty songs/videos here on KZfaq; it contains both live performances and the above mentioned music videos. I sincerely hope that you consider reacting to them all (except "Gimme Chocolate!!" - one down, nineteen to go) kzfaq.info/sun/PLdhz2aj0pt4zPl0BZLevPUR9uHKQA27uj I recommend that you start at the top of the list and work your way down: it starts with the very first MV they did (2012) and moves forward to 2019. I should mention that I cannot guarantee that reacting to these videos won't be blocked but with some creative editing that shouldn't be a problem. BABYMETAL recently released their fourth album “The Other One”. I would strongly recommend that you react to their earlier work before delving into this last album: in my opinion, the contrast is striking. Finally, I suggest that you avoid compilation and fancam videos like the plague: compilation videos are, in my opinion, an insult to both the viewer and the band; the music is certainly overdubbed, and the changes in venue and costumes (sometimes even personnel) can be confusing if not completely annoying. Watching a BABYMETAL compilation video is like eating prime rib after somebody else chewed it. You won't be reacting to BABYMETAL, you'll be reacting to a highlight reel of BABYMETAL. And fancams generally have terrible quality and sound thus being basically a waste of time. Sorry about the wall! Enjoy your trip down the foxhole! (You're in for a wild ride!!!) KITSUNE UP!!! 🤘🦊🤘

Know any of these? Guns N Roses, Lady Gaga, Red Hot Chilly Peppers, Metallica, Rob Hallford from Judas Priest, KORN, and Stone Sour .. Deathklock, Jason Richardson, Sabaton, Lordi, Creeper, Skynd, Bring me the Horizon, The Hu, Avatar, Amaranthe, Sleep Token, Dream State, Islander, Yelawolf, Hellyeah, Jack Iron, and DragonForce drug them onstage because no promotors would sign a "girl bad" and since Dragonforce was on the first album "Road to Resistance: track .. Oh well .. These are mostly the backing shows or Babymetal. None of the stadium shows .. Not bad for a preeteen greoup from Japan.. Plus there is the number One on Billboard ....

Thanks for the video, glad you enjoy weird, this song is definitely the most out there of the group. Other Babymetal songs are very good but not quite as weird. For more weird, try another kawaii metal group from Japan, Ladybaby, with their most popular song Nippon Manju. That song was actually seriously considered for the promotion of Japan at the would be 2020 Tokyo Olympics. They take the metal/jpop mash-up to an even more extreme degree.

Babymetal has always been about experimentation, so each song is different from the last, and every album is different. They have everything from more playful songs like Gimme Chocolate, to more serious songs like Rondo of Nightmare (just off their first album). One of the things Babymetal has done is taken chord progressions that are only found in Japanese pop, and mixed them in with the metal and rock chord progressions, in addition of mixing in other genres. So they have a wide diversity of sound. I certainly think you should consider a whole album reaction. However, Babymetal is always better live.

Here's a playlist for every album, all made up of live performances when available. A lot of the lives are compilations to get past the YT gremlins. One exception being the Budokan 2014 which are complete. Since the Other One is new, there isn't a whole lot of live performances available for it, so it is mostly made up of lyric videos.
