For some people usually takes 3 songs to get into Babymetal. And yes they were young. In this video. A song I know you will like is Rondo of Nightmares live at Budokan it’s very important that it’s live at Budokan
@rah22872 жыл бұрын
So many people suggest Rondo but I believe that Catch Me If You Can is a better choice than Rondo for early viewing because a solo with Su minis Moa and Yui is confusing and some consider it operatic in nature. CMIYC still gives a new viewer a chance to see the Kami Band perform in an intro and the song is fun.

⚡ 💀 💕 / 🦊 ⛩ BABYMETAL generally combine Metal with JPop/Idol music. This song brings in a lot of EDM sounds as well as Japanese festival chants. Their lead singer Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto, or Su) was 15 when the 'Megitsune' music video and single were released in 2013. The two younger girls, Yui and Moa were 13, almost 14. "Megitsune" = me + kitsune, which is female + fox. It's pronounced something like: "Meh-gih-tsoo-neh" (the "ts" in "tsu" is like the end of a word like "hats") Thanks for reacting to this one. Megitsune is my jam. Still my favorite BABYMETAL song, video and choreography. Definitely quintessential BABYMETAL, and their most Japanese song. This one slays live, and always hypes up the audience. It's been performed live more than any other BABYMETAL song, and frequently tops fan polls for favorite song. They really shine in live performances, but the official video for 'Karate' is quite good as well. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fdx0ZqZ5ppqcoHU.html

Oh you're allowed to say cute. That is definitely what they were going for back then. The girls did a few commentary videos years later and they had the same reaction. Su - 'We really were babies.' Especially their very first music video 'Doki Doki Morning'. Su is a year and a half older than Yui and Moa. She was huge compared to them. Which is pretty funny they are nearly the same height now and none of them are big at all.

4:49 when Su (aka Su-metal), the lead singer, unsheathes the knife hidden in her microphone, she says in Japanese, "Maidens are not to be underestimated". 🦊🤘

BABYMETAL are indeed the girls, used to be three: SU-Metal singer, YUI-Metal and MOA-Metal dancers and screamers (that's the order from their intro song BABYMETAL DEATH... yeah, a lot of caps 😅). Right now, unfortunately, is a duo, as YUI left for health issues, they gave her almost two years to see if she could recover, but unfortunately she didn't. It was a painful moment, as the very unfortunate death of one of the Kami Band members, their beloved guitarist Mikio Fujioka. They touched really a lot of different genres, you have funny songs, "motivational" ones, sad ballads, heavy ones, really a lot, they always change, but you always get their fresh, open, distinctive sound. 🤘🦊⚡

BABYMETAL is not for everyone...and that's OK! Back in 2015 I just couldn't get into the couple songs I heard, or into any non-English music. I think my brain could not handle the cute vocals over the metal music, plus, I am in my 40's and music by little teen girls was not my thing! BUT now I am a huge fan and I listen to BABYMETAL daily, especially when I work, as they keep me awake, happy, and motivated! BTW, if this song is too cute vocally, try out of the solo songs by the lead singer Su...the video titled "BABYMETAL - Rondo of Nightmare Live @ Budokan Black Night" has epic band solos and Su sings about being in a never ending nightmare.

nice reaction. other's on here will fill you in more, but i'll start with the basic. they are not an all female band. the musician's are all male and the very best session musician's in japan. the band was formed around the vocals of the lead singer su when she was, i believe 12, and paired with the 2 vocal/dancers who were 10. their live show's are amazing. the way you were dancing on the couch is how 30,000 people are moving at the show's. it usually take some people 3 songs to get into them, first is, this is weird ,then its ok, and finally, this is great!!!!! if you prefer the heavy stuff then you should watch death legend 1997 or sis anger. they touch on all types of metal. they have been rocking for 10 years now and have over 50 song's available. enjoy!!!

If BABYMETAL is making you smile and bob your head, then they've done their job. It might take a few songs to get into it fully, or that might not happen at all. But if you got an open mind, you'll definitely be entertained. Enjoy the ride
@Grington3003 жыл бұрын
Good reaction - and you will get there, give it a couple more songs ... sanreiman has explained why they are called BABYMETAL already and you have some good suggestions for more reactions, so I'll stick to this song. 'Megitsune' regularly tops fan polls for their favourite BABYMETAL song even though it was one of their earliest. It is also the song they have played live more than any other and remains a feature on most of their live set lists. Like their song Karate (which you haven't seen yet), 'Megitsune' reflects a lot of their Japanese culture starting with the traditional instruments (shamisen I think) in the intro and the lyrics about women being compared to foxes (kitsune - the kitsune masks were prominent in this video) which in Japanese mythology are able to shape shift and take human form in order to deceive. They are saying that women wearing their make up and hiding their true feelings are not trying to deceive anybody, they are simply trying to please everybody and this shows the inner strength of women through the ages (one lyric says about crying inside, smiling outside I think) - so they are not kitsune (foxes), they are megitsune (female foxes or vixens) and they are strong. The breakdown with the pig squeals uses the exact melody of an old and very well known Japanese folk song called 'Sakura Sakura' (Cherry Blossoms). When Su pulled the short blade (tanto) from her microphone she said "Otome wa ... nametara ikan zeyo." (Maidens ... shouldn't be underestimated). This is a famous quote from a Japanese gangster movie said by the daughter of a gang boss. Much of the video was shot on location at the Asagaya Shinmei Shrine in Tokyo. This has become a place of pilgrimage for BABYMETAL fans visiting Tokyo. The official videos are good but BABYMETAL are a live performance act and that is where you will see (and hear) them at their best - avoid fan made compilation videos unless there is no better, full live, alternative.

Hi. From Rio. For those just starting out, listening to any music by the Band, in isolation, is a difficult task. I would say that BABYMETAL is a concept Band. Many cultural and musical aspects go totally unnoticed without a minimum of immersion in the Band's Legacy. A lot to say but unfortunately 🤣 difficults with English and little time available make me leave the task to those more prepared and attentive. Thanks for your support and encouragement 🤗.

Just answering your fiancé's question, nobody seems to have answered it. There are no pigs in the video the mask the dancer is wearing during the pigsqueals is a fox mask. The whole concept of Babymetal is around a fox god also the name of this song means vixen/female fox. So no pigs :)

Nice reaction!! Welcome to the foxhole🦊 I think you're very right to watch the music video first. However, live shows are what BABYMETAL is really about. Megitsune is a very exciting song to play live show, and I highly recommend seeing the live version as well. You can feel the power of these women and the power of the audience. - Megitsune (LIVE "LEGEND 1997" [SU-METAL Seitan Sai] 2013) - Megitsune (LIVE "LEGEND 1999" [YUMETAL&MOAMETAL Seitan Sai] 2013) - Megitsune Live @ Budokan Black Night - BABYMETAL Megitsune at Glastonbury 2019 SUMETAL(vocal&dance) was born in 12/1997. YUIMETAL(scream&dance) was born in 06/1999. MOAMETAL was born in 07/1999. This music video was registered in 2013/06, so it is assumed that SU is 15 yrs old and YUI & MOA are 13 yrs old. All of BABYMETAL's songs are quite different and all of them are representative of their music. I hope you enjoy the variety of songs (all of them if possible). All of the songs are great, but if I had to recommend them, the following songs might be a good place to start. Use it to help you choose your next song. - Syncopation / BABYMETAL - BABYMETAL - AKATSUKI「紅月アカツキ」BLACK NIGHT HD1080p - BABYMETAL Uki Uki Midnight PV - Legend of 1997 Headbanger - Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL) - Ijime,Dame,Zettai - Live at Sonisphere 2014,UK (OFFICIAL) I hope you continue to enjoy your BABYMETAL. Put your Kitsune🦊 up! from Japan. (Translation by DeepL) Megitsune is a song full of Japan. From here on down, if you're interested in Japan, take a look. Megitsune(女狐) is a female fox. me = 女 = female kitsune = 狐 = fox There are many animals in Japan that are God's apostles. Foxes, Deer, Crows, Snakes... There is also a shrine dedicated to the fox god. When Japanese people hear the word "Megitsune", they do not think of the animal fox. In Japan, it has long been said that foxes transform into humans and trick people. Foxes are considered to be bewitching, mysterious and cunning creatures. "Megitune" contains this meaning. The lyrics say "はじけてドロンして(hajikete doron shite)", They're singing about a fox transforming with a leaf on its head. If you can picture the ninja disappearing with the smoke, it's about the same. "コンコン(kon kon) is the animal sound of the fox in Japan. The first instrument used is the 三味線(shamisen). The shamisen is a stringed instrument shaped like a guitar. The shamisen is a representative musical instrument of Japan. Since the shamisen was born 500 years ago, it is a new instrument among Japanese musical instruments. The drums are "太鼓(taiko)". It's a 小太鼓(kodaiko)(=small drum) because it's small. Or, it's called a 鼓(tuzumi). "それそれ(sore sore)" and "わっしょい(wasshoi)" are the shouts that are used when carrying a omikoshi(お神輿=portable shrine) during a japanese traditional festival. PAPAYA is also omatsuri(festive) metal, but so is this song. The song used in the breakdown is "さくら さくら(Sakura Sakura)" and it's about 150 years old. sakura means cherry blossom. A woman wearing a kimono and a fox mask is dancing in a 日本舞踊(nihon buyou=Japanese traditional dance). The dagger planted in the microphone is a 懐刀(futokoro katana) or 懐剣(kai ken), a sword that women used to insert into the 帯(obi) of a 着物(kimono). 帯(obi) is sash belt. This music video was shot in the 能楽殿(nougakuden=Noh theatre) of this shrine. - 阿佐ヶ谷 神明宮 (Asagaya Shinmeiguu) 能楽殿(Nougakuden) is is the place to dance 能(Noh). 能(noh) is the oldest theatrical art in Japan with its origin goes back to 14th century. Incidentally, the 3 princesses said it was hot as a sauna in this place when they shot Megitsune.

"Megitsune" (メギツネ,) was released in Japan on June 19, 2013 as the fifth single from the album Babymetal. It is also the first single released independently from the idol group Sakura Gakuin. the full music video, directed by Takuya Tada (多田卓也), uploaded to the official Babymetal channel on June 4, 2013. When this video was release Su Metal was just 15 (16 if don't count birthday) while Yui Metal & Moa Metal was 13 (14 if don't count birthdays). Unlike screams in traditional heavy metal, "Megitsune" is filled with festival chants by Yui Metal and Moa Metal like "wasshoi" and "sore sore", while Su Metal sings in the melodramatic style of enka. Commentary from BabyMetal for this MV: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qr5zdpxkud7Ynqs.html The music video was shot on location at the Asagaya Shinmei Shrine in Tokyo; it is now a popular spot for Babymetal fans from outside Japan to visit. The three members are shown dancing in Noh theater. In the last chorus, The song contains lyrics such as "from the time of birth, women are actresses" which reflect on the song's theme of women remaining strong when living with their varied facial expressions. The song relates foxes, which disguises themselves for deception in Japanese mythology, to women, who disguise themselves with makeup. According to Su Metal. foxes are similar to women as they can keep their true feeling hidden, even through hard times, leaving a cool impression. The last chorus contains the phrase "underestimate [maidens] at your own peril" (なめたらいかんぜよ, nametara ikan ze yo, literally "if you underestimate, it would be regrettable"), which is also famously said by Masako Natsume's character in the 1982 yakuza film "Onimasa"; whether or not this was intentional has never been confirmed.

Well, they call themselves "Kawaii Metal", which means "Cute Metal", so I don't think there's anything wrong with you calling them cute. They were 14 and 13 when this single/video was released, so that's definitely what they were going for. You seem to have the same problem a lot of "metalheads" do (I did too at first). Moa & Yui's parts. The "screaming" from the two smaller backup vocalists (in this case they were doing traditional Japanese summer festival chants) is often a big part of their live performances. Everyone will tell you that they are a live band and that's one reason why, crowd participation (which you pretty much nailed by the way). Another one is their backup band, the Kami Band, which doesn't record their songs. They are some of the best session musicians in Japan. I think you'll probably enjoy lead singer Su-metal's solo songs (Akatsuki live at Budokan 2014 or Rondo of Nightmare from the same concert are two of them) or their newer stuff from the latest album (Distortion, Starlight, BxMxC) a lot more at first. The solos because they are more serious and focus more on the music and vocals of the lead singer, the newer stuff because her voice is much more mature than in Megitsune.

Dancing on the couch was fantastic. The band is definitely cute, they invented a new genre of metal called "kawaii metal", or cute metal, which infuses metal with Japanese kawaii culture, which is a thing. Nowadays they are more beautiful than cute, and their music and style reflects that. Distortion - Download Festival or Road of Reistance would be good songs to check. RoR came out of a collaboration with Dragonforce.

Em if you truly want your man to get into them you'll need to go with the heavy first and ease him into their lighter stuff. Megitsune is the best in-between there is in BM discography but I would strongly advise you to make him react to either of these two for now : BABYMETAL - BABYMETAL DEATH at Legend 97 BABYMETAL - Rondo of Nightmare (With Mischiefs of God Intro) And if he complains that you're pushing him hard on BABYMETAL, tell him that those were handpicked for a guy like him who likes his music heavy and dark :).

Have a look at our kingslayer reaction video comments... haha 😅 people get very protective of their favourite bands, but id probably be the same with my favourites 😄
@draacco3 жыл бұрын
@@emmywillson Yea, Kingslayer is generating alot of conversation that frankly has to be had and Well, emotion is to be expected I guess. I'm just going from my own personal experience of the majority of Babymetal fans on all of the reaction video's that I've seen, are very positive, even to the negative reactions to Babymetal. Music elicits such deep emotions in people no matter the Genre. Some have trouble controlling themselves, especially in Text. There is no inflection and everything said is usually taken in the worst possible way and unfortunately, sometimes it's meant to be taken that way. I think that alot of the Babymetal fans either overtly or nothing more than on a subconscious level, are overly protective of Babymetal, since they have heard all the songs and have done the deep dive on the lyrics and the meanings(especially their early songs when they were SO SO young), mostly because the fans that aren't Japanese have to go more into a deep dive, since its in Japanese and the search for meanings and translations are sometimes lacking in context when it's a direct translation. I've seen several songs with lyrics, have 5 completely different meanings/translations and feel to the same song and it gets very confusing, compared to what we are seeing visually also. The real fans have to go into an even Deeper Dive into the language and into nuanced sentence/verse structure and play on words that the writers throw into every song. The more you dive into all of this, just makes the emotional responses to negative comments even more emotional and sometimes brash or harsh. Professor Andrew Hartley is a huge fan of Babymetal and goes into all the lyrics, meanings, traditional aspects, religion influence and much more about this song "Megitsune" kzfaq.info/get/bejne/m6yKkseFrsmVY5c.html I never knew all that went into this song from a visual and lyrical context as it hits on SO many societal issues in the world today not just Japanese culture. It was very informative to me at least and very insightful. I gained a whole new level of respect for group and the people behind the scenes making Babymetal great. From my feeble perspective, the fans feel for these girls and what they have had to go through over the years in a male dominated genre of music, especially in Japan. This song "Megitsune" bucks and takes issue with several Japanese traditional views and roles of women and girls and how they are treated in that society. The lyrics are telling the story that "we are not Foxes" {Kitsune} we are "Vixens" {Megitsune} we are powerful and not to be underestimated or constrained to a life of servitude to men or that bias. Which in Japan, at least in the recent past seems to me to be a big deal. All those emotions boil up in fans and sometimes they will lose control. Not trying to make excuses for these comments, but Happens to all of us. I think what's telling is that Major Hardcore Metal bands like Metallica, Judast Priest, Rob Zombie, BMTH etc... have Completely embraced these girls, the music and everything they represent. Even Rob Zombie had to bonk some of his fans on the head when they tried to put down Babymetal. He directly called them out, cussed at them and set them straight :) So, Don't take the negative as a direct shot at you, your fiance, or your channel even though it may seem to be so. There is so much boiling underneath for so long that this music is bringing to the surface. I'm just glad people like you and your fiance are doing these reactions to keep the conversation going, good or bad. Take your shots with pride; you're keeping the conversation going. It's a good thing. Keep moving forward and continue on the journey and let us join in it with you. Love your reactions so far and I look forward to more. Sorry for the wall of text.

Just to be clear, they are wearing fox masks, not pigs. "Megitsune" means "female fox" and alludes to the "Fox God" mythology that Babymetal has built around themselves as well as traditional Japanese mythology around the fox spirit. This song incorporates some traditional Japanese folk tune melodies and folk dances.

Well in a way this song got bigger than even Kobametal expectedcthis is in Japan a symbol of female empoeerment. It got bigger than they expected. While we in the west don't really understand its signifiçance. The point is Su is not only childish. Maidend can be dangerous. Moa and Yui even accuse Su that she might kill people. But the Foxsymbol that was only created as an anti devil became a symbol outside metal. And this as a creation from idols...

In metal, guys having long hair is nothing special. If you see someone with a long hair and quickly assume it's a girl, then you must've never known anything about metal before.
