On a planet that is 4.6 billion years old, and a human species that is 200,000 years old, count yourself extremely fortunate to be alive at the same time as David Gilmour. @@yvesblues560 This version is more exciting (and I LOVE the live version at Pompeii) because it is the last one played together by Gilmour and Wright. And it marks the farewell between two friends who would soon say goodbye forever. The final part is truly moving. Be that as it may, "Echoes" is a splendid piece, both in old and new versions.

I worked as a lighting technician in the music industry for a long time. My first big tour was Pnk Floyd's "Pulse" tour. Then Michael Jackson. Then some other top-class bands and musicians followed. But nothing compares to a tour with Davis Gilmour. All the preparations, the team, the musicians, and David, an unbelievable harmony, a great spirit and it is just made sure that everyone just has a great time and tour. From the boss to the truck driver. This is almost unique in the industry. Also the contact with each other. Just a big family, you can't say it any other way. It's similar with Adele, but nowhere else.

Pink Floyd is just in a category all to themselves. The piece of music you just listened to takes time for even you to process in your mind. You listened and studied carefully (yes, I did stay and vibe with you until the end) and you “got it” when you said “Echoes!” when you realized the keyboard and guitar were complimenting each other toward the end. Great catch for a first down! Great review... keep going young Lady. PS, I subbed.

Where they have part 1 and part 2 is "Pink Floyd in Pompeii 1971". That's when they filmed this song into 2 parts that kind of bookends a documentary and a bunch of songs in between half of Echoes. It might be nice for you to see them when they were your age which they are in the 1971 version where they play in an empty ancient Arena that was destroyed by Mount Vesuvius in 79 ad. They are kind of playing to the ghosts that were covered by the ash from the sudden eruption of Mount Vesuvius! Part 1 is the part of the song before the crazy whale song and crazy squawking sounds that you heard in the live in Gdansk version you just watched.

I was not expecting this one next, but what a pleasant surprise! This is among my favorite renditions of it. I 100% guarantee you will not hear from anyone who was in the audience for “Echoes” live from Pompeii in 1972. If you watch that video, you will see why. 😉But that too, is one of my favorite versions. I really hope you do “Dogs” from the Animals album (honestly doing the entire album would be an even more exhilarating experience for you). But in that case with this song or album, I strongly encourage you do the original studio version, not live ones. There’s nothing to watch, but just close your eyes and enjoy an incredible experience, of course, reacting too. Haha For more live stuff, and especially since you enjoy the lights, try “Run Like Hell” from the Pink Floyd - Pulse concert. It’s insanity. And another I think you would enjoy is David Gilmour “On An Island” from Live in Gdańsk. The same concert for the one you just did here with “Echoes”. But honestly, you can’t really go wrong with nearly everything Pink Floyd did. It’s a deep rabbit hole with a lot of stops on the way.

I've sat and watched this whole performance a number of times and figured, I needed to watch someone else watch it. I love seeing the reaction people have to it. Echoes is basically about human empathy and understanding one another. _"Strangers passing in the street, by chance, two separate glances meet and I am you and what I see is me"_ We should all be more kind to one another and in this day and age especially. I hope you check out some other Floyd live performances from their Division Bell tour or Delicate Sound of Thunder. Cheers!

The Greatest Rock band ever....I was in concert many years before in Athens Greece....Their music has the effect of LSD.... Something open in your mind and start have different sense of everything....The environment , the music , the colours the smell looks different... You are tripping without drugs.....They said that the song Shine on you crazy diamond was dedicated to the man , the myth , the martyr Syd Barrett ex Pink Floyd member which left this world very early...RIP Syd Barrett.. In my opinion Pink Floyd send more people to space than NASA.... Greetings from Rio De Janeiro Brasil....

I had the pleasure of seeing them live three times: The Wall, The Momentary Lapse of Reason and Division Bell tours. Since then, I’ve seen David Gilmour twice and Roger Waters twice. If you can feel their music through videos, imagine being there in concert!

Of course I sat through the whole video. I anticipated your reaction when the funk dropped. That's my favorite part that I could listen to for an hour I teared up during the second call/response between Rick and David towards the end. You're right, it's not a battle. It's a conversation that the two of them are having. The last one ever. After hearing this over and over for 38 years, you showed me something on your first time. Echoes. I never thought of it that way before.

@@keypressplay9129 , I'm watching the video again. You just said "the anticipation here". As I've always said, everything in this world is about tension and release. That's what makes a great song, a great ride, you name it. The longer they can hold you with tension and keep you interested, the better the release is. By the way, are you going to do that two parter? It's Pink Floyd (this was David Gilmour) playing Pompeii at the ancient coliseum for ghosts. It was an artistic film back in the early 70's. It's two parts because the film was bookended by Echoes. Fitting, because they say you can feel the echoes of the once living that are long gone.

Sweetheart there is only part one of echoes. I've seen them 3 times all throughout my life. I'm 61 and they are my favorite of all time. I was 14 when I got the "Dark side of the moon" I'm so glad to see you enjoy them as million's do all over this 🌎. Please REACT to: Pink Floyd: "On the turning away" select the video with the lit candle.

The live at Pompei documentary splits the song in two and bookends the documentary. Many reactors do that, which is, indeed, split in two. So, she was working off of correct information. However, I am delighted she chose this version.

Wright's last performance was at the Syd Barrett Tribute, nearly a year after Pink Floyd's original creative force Barrett had died of pancreatic cancer. Wright died just over a year later of lung cancer leaving just 3 of the bands original members still alive.

David is the guitarist, Richard is the keyboardist. At this point they had known Richard had cancer and had been trying to hide it from fans for a while, and they knew the end was pretty near and that this was likely the last time they would play this together. David has been asked why he won't play this song anymore, and his reply was that "this song was a conversation between him and Richard, and with him gone that conversation cannot be had again."

There’s an interesting interview with David Gilmore floating around here somewhere where he states that without Rick’s lush keyboards, Pink Floyd basically would’ve been just another British blues rock band! If you haven’t seen it yet-WATCH DAVID & RICK’S BARN JAM SHORTLY BEFORE RICKS DEATH!! DEVASTATINGLY beautiful watching how the two old musical comrades in arms were so easily, flawlessly able to just jam and create seamlessly perfect melodies together!

There are only 3 members of Pink Floyd still alive today. Roger Waters (who left the band in 1985), Nick Mason, and David Gilmour. There is another, Bob Klose, but he left before the band became Pink Floyd.
