She Angelina-ized it for sure!!!! Her vocal gymnastics and lyrical interpretations are evident and her artistry is on full display. But, we must first go to the core and realize as soon as she starts singing her voice, coming from deep within her, touches us and it is impossible to resist her. Personally, I never compare her to anyone. Although still in the early stages of her career she has already established herself as an extraordinary one-of-a-kind singer who backs that up with a persona beyond reproach. Dave, she hasn't been officially marketed yet and when she breaks the ice into that world her talent will be on full display for people to see and hear and her fame will skyrocket to a point which will be astonishing. All of us who have gotten to know her through her video's since she was 7 years old (and even earlier!) will rejoice the moment when everyone on our planet will know who Angelina Jordan is and enjoy listening to her sing to the masses (and for the masses) and feel the love in her heart. I just can't believe that she can possibly get better but every song she does seems better then the last!! I really have to hand it to Adele for helping her when she's such killer competition!!! Adele has done many songs that make me cry but when Angelina does them the bar is a mile higher. She has in ineffable quality that just can't be put into words. Her control and knowing when NOT to be over the top are alot of it I think. Her instincts are perfect in handling a song. Dave, Republic Records is honoring Angelina’s parent’s decision to have Angelina finish her schooling and to enjoy what’s left of her childhood before launching her music career. IMO, Republic Records is doing a great job of keeping her fans contented for the time being by having her release her covers and original songs every couple of months. I think it’s a brilliant marketing strategy to slow walk her releases because they sure do cause us to want more.

I think Angelina is approaching her career the best way possible for her. Unless that's what she really want, I wouldn't want her be just another pop star who only does songs her label forces her to do, exactly the way they want it. Dave I don't know if anyone has said it but her Grandmother recently had 3 hour surgery and Angelina was beside herself the whole time. She is her mentor and best friend so AJ is able to put her emotions into this very easy. Too often you hear people comment well how can she have these feelings and emotions. She isn't old enough to have experienced it yet. But we know emotions come from many different sources.

Great reaction Dave! We know that Angelina can somehow sound like (and sometimes a lot like) other artists, both male and female, from Gloria Gaynor to Elvis to Amy Winehouse, among others. What is unmistakable (and staggering) is that here Angelina has chosen to deliver to us more Adele than Adele herself while still folding in her "special" (and un-duplicatable) Angelina ingredients!! Play this audio for a casual music fan who hasn't heard Adele's new song and they will believe it is her. Then play the Adele original and ask their favorite. When they pick AJ's don't be surprised. In her quiet way Angelina continues to build her tidal wave. When will it be released you ask? It is true that we have long ago learned to jettison any need to age-adjust her performances as they can already stand note-for-note with pretty much all comers (both old and new). However, we still have to recall that she is 15yo and likely has algebra homework. It is noteworthy that for close to a decade she and her very supportive and involved family (and now with her label) have controlled the rate of her public growth in a manageable way. I doubt that will change for the short term. So when she is ready, she will launch. She seems mature and grounded enough to (with her team) make a wise decision on that. But like with any tidal wave, all seems fine in the music world until that moment when she hits. I don't think it will be too long.

Some people prefer chocolate ice cream while others vanilla and many prefer a different flavor. They can all agree they love and enjoy ice cream while having their favorite flavor. Music lovers each love and enjoy music while having their favorite songs and artists. ALL music lovers need to respect each others favorites. There is no need to compare one to another but rather enjoy what each song and each artist gives us. Adele should and likely will win a Grammy for this song and deservedly so. I think it is a great song but I prefer Angelina singing it.

As usual; AJ has taken this to an ethereal level she is without a doubt a genius. There is something that is so special about AJ and It is not just her wonderful voice; it is her total being that draws one in.

Right with you Dave. The delicate vibrato on the first run of "feeeel" is unbelievable. Totally agree that watching Angelina is just as important as listening. She puts her whole body and soul into her performance. Watch both hands go up in the air when she sings "I give up". You know she's actually feeling what she is singing. Also, as you know, there are always subtle visual clues in her recordings like Grandma Mery in this one or Screamin' Jay's photo on the candle ... that are part of the whole Angelina experience. IMHO listening to her on the radio will be awesome, but watching her performance will be on a different level.

A great reaction Dave. Very genuine. To think that within a few days of the original's release, they were able to get everything organized to make this video. I'd say it helps when they know they will get it done in one or two takes. Great camera work - very professional. Nice and simple production. But, think about it, Angelina had to have heard this song (she actually put out a TikTok version just hours after Adele dropped the original) and formulated a version in her head, practiced it and perfected it and then just went into the studio and just "laid down dem tracks"

Again, this illustrates the fact that a great non-jazz singer is at a disadvantage when compared to a great jazz singer when it comes to heart felt ballads, for they are unable to match the emotion filled nuance and inflections from Angelina. She has been singing jazz since she was 1-1/2, and when you realize she incorporates bits of two of the best jazz singers of all time, that being Billie Holiday (old school jazz) and Amy Winehouse, the most uniquely different jazz singer of all time, you realize Angelina can penetrate the human soul so deeply, unlike any other singer past or present. Her grandma is the one most responsible, since it was her, a child prodigy herself, who realized Angelina could absorb jazz tune and lyrics to the point where she was singing it aloud at 1-1/2. A normal person could never have done what Mery Zamani was able to do and thank God she was there at the beginning.

Well, the Covid last year and this year killed all her concerts in Europe. First concert may be in Japan. Did nuts over her over there she sings in fluent Japanese. Your mother and uncle spent a number of years in Japan your grandfather was Japanese her grandmother is Iranian which is why she speaks Farsi. So add Norwegian and English to the mix, along with German she’s studied in school; then, top it off that her father is Swedish. That’s just a tiny bit of her legacy. 🌺

Dave, great reaction and totally on point. I've also seen Adele's video and it is great, so I don't know why people feel they need to compare. In fact, since I don't follow new artists usually I learned about Adele from Angelina having covered "A million Years Ago" and was inspired to search out Adele. I'm not so sure being on the radio is as big a deal as it used to be. Now there are other choices of how to get ones music out to listeners, reaction videos being one. I found her by accident on you tube. Now she is doing Tick Tock which reaches a younger audience. I mean, what station would she be on. They seem to be theme oriented now, like, 80's or 70's or jazz or whatever.

Personally, I have a bit of a problem with reacters who compare Angelina to other "up and coming" artists (Diana, Daneliya, etc.), but I have no problem whatsoever with people comparing her to the artists whose songs she covers. Not only does covering someone's song just naturally invite comparisons to the original, but the specific way that Angelina often covers songs - intentionally evoking some aspect of the original artist's voice or general vocal style - *really* invites comparisons. In fact, in cases where she has hewn most closely to the original (e.g., "Nothing Breaks Like a Heart"), I can't help but think that being compared to the original was kinda the whole point of the exercise. I get the same feeling from this one.
