I'm with you. This song and live 'Dazed and Confused' are still two of the darkest, most evil sounding songs ever recorded in rock IMO. To me what makes both songs great is that lyrics aren't over the top with the human sacrifice, kill babies and eat guts type of "shock" imagery that you'd hear from some clownish death metal group and the music, being both hard and soft, is just perfectly suggestive of violence and anguish without being overtly so. I mean, I'll take a movie like "The Witch" over "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" any day of the week, but that's just me.

Im 61, this version is still the ultimate goat 49 odd yrs later, the whole band keys, drums, vocals, Jimmy's solo stills kills it over any live rock lead to this day sloppy smoppy id rather listen to this over perfect note for note shredding a gazillion mile n hour solo's any day The riff is so sick so dirty ... So simplistic so genius hasn't been matched to this day nor ever will be inspite of the fancy equipment they have today 🎼🎸 LEGENDARY. JIMMY PAGE

This to me is one of the best guitar solos of all time, page was such an emotion guitar players ever and he was not afraid to experiment with the guitar sounds, best all around guitarist of all time, he could play any genre of music on the guitar and that's what sets him apart from all other guitarist during the '60s '70s and beyond.

The song remains the same is their concert at MSG, with each member having a "dream" sequence. During this performance the whole Jonesy dream is shown, not bits and pieces like in this video. All I know is that all of my first husband's friends at the time, in the 80s, preferred this song from this album. I do too. My hubby, whom passed away at 33, used to cry at times listening to this. He said it had everything a song should have. Now when I hear it, it gives me the same effect, especially the guitar solo with the piano

The movie is about this 2 day concert in New York. Each member of the band had an expressional video of their personalities from what I gather from a song each. It shows them in concert and a bit of their personal lives and bits of pieces of what happened at the concert. This song was a permanent part of their live set list from 1973-1977… it evolved and got longer to the point where in 1977 some nights it could be 40+ minutes long. This is still the definitive version however the O2 reunion version is also great. Most Zeppelin fans rank this as one of Page’s finest live solos… they way it builds and grows into an inferno. They lived in England until, like many other British artists, they became tax exiles… forced to either spend a large part of the year living abroad, or pay 80% of their earnings to the British government.

Probably one of the most iconic studio engineers is Eddie Cramer, who worked with Andy John's on this album.Cramer also was Hendrix's engineer, and Is one of the best, if not the best. Cramer had the uncanny ability to translate what the musicians had in mind sonically for the listener. So SalvoG is doing the right thing by listening to the studio version first. But Zeppelin live is always a treat!

A movie reaction would be awsume. Throw a watch party where members could send you donations. The movie is a must see for any Zeppelin fan. It is a concert filmed in MSG over 2 days. Each member has their fantasy sequence. Robert's was The Rain Song, Jimmy's is ,Dazed and Confused. Jonesy No Quarter. And Bonzo Moby Dick a crazy 20 min. Drum solo. I have heard that the reason for the fantasy scene's where because some of the camera crew were so high the footage was not usable so they added fantasy screens into to production. Originally it was going to be a live concert movie. That it still is but with the scene's added. You really do need to see the entire movie it is amazing. Something every Zep head has seen hundreds of times. Well maybe not hundreds I lost count 25 years ago at 65 times and probably 4 times a year after that. You definitely need to watch this movie. I'm a big LZ fan and I love the "The Song Remains the Same" album, but I've never liked the movie all that much. The fantasy sequences were just kind of cheesy, cheaply shot, and the special effects were lame. However, the live sequences of the band are definitely worth seeing, so I'd recommend the guy watch it just for that reason.

The movie is a concert (2 from MSG in NYC) with bits of acted scenery interspersed with occult like, spooky, of viking like character scenes. Like each member of the group had their personality injected into the movie. It is dark, and mystical, adding to the magic of the group. People actually believed that the group sold their souls to Satan for this talent, and lots of occult fantasies surrounded them. Page had bought Alister Crowley's mansion in Northern England, and Robert had a house in Wales, (Jimmy had a cabin there too) John Paul Jones was a Londonite, and Bonzo was more a cerntral UK native.

Glad to hear you are feeling better! Regarding the concert film, The Song Remains the Same -- there's plenty of info online about this, but for a quick overview: The movie was filmed in 1973, during the performances from July 24-29, including the MSG shows, at the end of their North American tour. It was set up to simulate travel to different concert venues, some back stage footage, plus fantasy segments from each band member. All the filming and production did not go as planned, then Robert Plant's injuries from the serious car crash in Rhodes intervened, and the film was not released until 1976. The movie has some serious issues with editing and continuity, but is still well worth watching! You have to remember that, in those days, very few live performances were filmed, and prior to home video and the Internet, concert movies like this were really the only way for fans to see a live show if they couldn't attend in person. Was this song as *popular* as the more well-known hits? It probably did not get as much play on the radio as those released as singles, but people played the entire album, not separate songs, so I would say it was as popular with fans (everyone did not have all their favorite music in a playlist on a cellphone!). There were FM radio stations in some places that played entire albums, but not everywhere. Most fans had to go to a record store and buy the album, or have a friend who did. It's hard to explain how different those days were from the way people listen to music today!

Remember the music. Forget you ever saw this video. It's cut up in a million pieces as far as the non stage visuals go. If you were to watch The Song Remains The Same, the movie it would not be like this. For a while I believe when they were recording Presence Jimmy and Robert lived in Houdini's old house.

The film/video of this I think is excellent. Each member of the band has a video section to a song that they are the main part of. Definitely worth watching the whole movie as it’s very much the band at their nearly their best 👌👌👌👏👏👏

Yes, The Song Remains the Same movie is s must for a fan. I will show a fantasy sequence for each band member and manager, as well as their personal lives and hobbies! It was shelved amid disputes with the film makers and then 3 years later released in theaters (1976)when Zep were on hiatus.

This is an absolute MONSTER of a song! Like a lot of Zep's songbook, it's better live, at least from the point of view of energy and exuberance. You also get to see JImmy strut his stuff! Anyway, another respectful and enjoyable reaction. Nice one!

YES this was popular when it came out. I was in San Francisco, and we were singing it in the streets. Of course, we were singing all of the good songs of the time lol

Yes please watch the movie! I sent you a link to the whole movie a couple of days ago! You'll see everything uncut! This no quarter video is terribly edited by somebody who uploaded this version! You'll see the full uncut version of no quarter which is way better than this upload! And in the movie it shows Jimmy Page more!

This is a song where the live versions are *much* better than the original studio version. They kept improving the song as they performed it in concert. (well, sometimes they "over-improved it", and needed to dial it back a little!). But the best of the live versions just totally outclass the original studio recording.

The band like most UK bands recorded in different countries to avoid taxation ,touring in America was only permitted six months at a time due to work visa’s and as far as land ownership they did reside in the UK and I’m pretty sure both Jimmy and Robert own various properties in the United States
