Thank you Teacher Paul. Zhou Shen debuted on this day 25 Jul 2014, first time he appeared in front of the public, his voice already amazed lots of people. He was studying Bel Canto in Ukraine LVIV National Music Academy and graduated in 2016 with an 'A'. His road to success wasn't as easy as many other singers. Though he signed a 6 years contract with a company, he didn't have many stages to perform and no album(from this company at all), he wasn't being treasured. As he didn't have outstanding appearance, came from a poor family, without any backgrounds and connections, he went through a very difficult time. There was a period of time that he didn't have any stage at all , yet he continued to master his techniques and continued to sing live online. End of 2018, he grabbed the chance and decided to go for the competition show "Super Vocal", there he sang the song "Memory", "Time to say goodbye" , "The lonely goatherd" and a few more. He was perfectly good then as you have reacted to the song "Memory". From there, more people started to notice him but not many though. The time when he was better known to the public was when Mr Lin Hai ( a well known host, he was touched by Zhou Shen's reaction whereby he noticed ZS didn't stop singing on the stage when there was a system problem, in fact ZS continued to have conversations with the audiences... ) invited him to take part in his show "Singing with legends S1" around Dec 2019. Every stage with Mr Hacken Lee was stunning. Yet still not so well known. In 2020, he was being informed quite last minute before the show "Singer 2020"( previously named "I am Singer" from 2013 , last episode in 2020) started. He didn't wish to be champion as time goes by, in fact he treasured every stage to show what he sings like and what he can sing. (As majority thought he could only sing lyric song.) He publicly performed on stage in the Voice of China back in 2014. At that time, he was an undergrad studying bel canto in Lviv National Musical Academy in Ukraine. He was born with a special voice and was treated as a "monster" as he seems so different than others. Suppressing his love for music, he started studying dentistry as undergrad major at first. After two years, he finally decided to follow his heart and switched to music. The Voice of China invited him for 3 years but he turned the opportunity down as he doesn't believe people gonna accept his voice along with his appearance. ZS started out singing online but not showing his face, he used a nickname called Ku-Bu. He gained many fans! That was how the director of VoiceOfChoice found him and invited him to participate but he rejected the 1st 2 yrs. He finally agreed in this 3rd season and his fans came along to cheer him! Charlie Zhou Shen always jokes that the voice changing fairy missed him out during puberty. He has retained most of his adolescent voice. He refrained from singing in his early teenage years due to the frank comments from peers. In his senior secondary school years, he won his school singing competition, and grew back a bit confidence. Not needing to appear behind the screens in the early years of intermet music uploads , he won his first batch of fans, and attracted the production team of The Voice. He got invited both 1st and 2nd season, which he refused as he knew negative comments would overflow. He only agreed in the 3rd season after a 3-month persuasion by one of the production director. Charlie never thought to take up singing as his career. He went to Ukraine to study dentistry for one year. The amazing multi-language skill was acquired because of this. Charlie found it too frustrating and difficult to do dentistry. He switched to learn bel cento, taught by one of the top leading opera singer in Ukraine. His debut in the Voice in 2014 ended very shortly as last 64. He signed a 6-year contract with the associated music company with the Voice. Charlie continued his bel cento study in Ukraine, so he travelled between China and Ukraine for 2 years for his study and assigned work by that music company, and graduated in 2016 with flying colours. The LONG 6-YEAR contract ended in July 2020. ( You can smell what I mean by that, right?) Charlie set up his own workshop. He can follow his heart to do what he loves now. He can really fly and sing what he wants now. His passion and love for music, ALONG with his talent, techique, and his optamistic, perseverance and thoughtfulness wins all his admirers one by one. Charlie is the little angel, and the sunshine for all of his fan, nickname shen mi ( 生米).

You can use“卡布叻” to search for his songs. The Voice of China invited him to join the competition, and the first judge turned around is a famous singer from Taiwan, his name is Chi Chun, and the song that Zhou Zhen singing is Chi Chun's older sister Chi Yue's song when she is about 20 years old. Zhou Shen came to professional singing almost accidentally. He grew up very small in stature with small hands and a high-pitched voice that never fully dropped even during puberty. Of course he was bullied almost constantly. Still he wanted to be a singer but his parents dissuaded him from that and pushed him to study dentistry. He went to a major university in Eastern Europe to study dentistry but he participated in a choir audition and one of the music faculty heard him and said you have to change your major to music you have an extraordinary voice. He decided to do that. He studied classical baroque music particularly in the bel canto tradition which is the music that was composed for the Castrati during the baroque period. He learned from real experts in a world class music department to sing classically. When he returned to China he apprenticed at the Beijing opera. That opera has a history of using males in female roles. Until recently in China females were not allowed to perform in the opera and so males particularly males who were castrated played those roles. He is apprenticed to learn classic Chinese opera. So when you hear him singing you hear the emphasis on the words and even the syllables, as well as the skillful use of vibrato which come from the bel canto tradition. And you hear him sing with almost a whispering tone at times which is classically derived from Chinese opera. He decided he would sing popular music but bring all of his training with him. So yes he did begin on the voice of China as a contestant. I believe he did not win I think he placed second and the person who won has hardly ever been heard from again. Zhou Shen went on to become famous as he continued to participate in some of the major performance venues and contests at an even higher level in China. Now he is a world class artist filling huge venues and performing with large orchestras to support his singing.
