This was one of the best songs of the last year content wise in my opinion. I work in healthcare and I got one week off during the pandemic and have had to work since. I have seen the toll that the Coronavirus has taken not only on people's physical health but their mental health as well. It's been hard. And the reactions to the trap verse in the middle was literally everything! I stopped and almost broke my legs when that part came on! Super M is from the same label, and that particular interjection reminds me a lot of the song Super Car.

Super Junior is the name of the Boy band. Super M is another group, both the same agency. Super Junior had 15 year making music. Thanks a lot for your hard in front of covid battle. 🙏

Burn the Floor suit the Rennaisance concept more . Also Burn the floor was the first candidate for the title track until then they change it to House Party maybe because the good message that they wanna tell about the pandemic . Suprisingly its the good choice because their message song get noticed why WHO too . This is maybe the reason why their comeback get delayed almost like 3 months . Since they not even tell the reason , maybe this is what the members wants (about changing the title track) and they dont know how to tell like "i am sorry we delaying the comeback because we change the tite track" hahahaha Maybe you can react to Aespa Next Level too , maybe they also get shock :))

Uptown Funk itself is an homage to the funk genre, so much so people were getting angry that it sounded like all these other funk songs. When in reality, all the aspects of Uptown Funk are the core of funk and therefore not plagiarism, so House Party sharing the same parts of Uptown Funk is just the base parts of the funk genre. It's nice to see my Ultimate Group get some attention again. I would definitely appreciate more SJ reactions, a lot of their stuff is overshadowed by strangled rubber chickens and mainstream edgy that is no longer edgy that makes up modern KPop of the 4 years.

Yass, That's why i also agree with the beannie guy, that this song resembles old funk song like quincy jones and james brown. Not just specifically Uptown Funk. People should know that so there would not be any misconception

Super Junior's music is always nice and fresh (and timeless for that matter), and that's why I love that they take risks and have different concepts that for some reason, they always master. You can tell they take pride into their music and for what they provide in the industry. 17 years and they're not just veterans, they're super veterans, and it shows. I'm glad that Label SJ was created in 2015 for these guys to have the freedom in their music, and that they don't need to be held down by SM's garbage tactics as much. If it wasn't for their independent label, we would have Black Suit, Lo Siento, One More Time, Super Clap, 2YA2YAO, Burn the Floor, House Party, all these awesome and always different comebacks that we know and love.

The part when Owen talks about the syncopation of talked speech blew my mind. My first language is Spanish, and the meaning of words will always change if you change where the accentuation is, so what he was saying had never crossed my mind

Burn the Floor was supposed to be the title -hence the Renaissance theme- but somehow they changed it to House Party, I'm assuming it has something to with YYJ and the virus going on for so long ... a lot of fans actually preferred Burn the Floor more but we agree that it would be very hard to perform it live as it is supposed to be performed because the lightwork for it is near impossible to do perfectly on shows like Music Bank.

It wouldn't be impossible at all, as they've performed it live multiple times. In fact that's how they first revealed it. It was one of the contenders for the title track, but if it was just between BTF and House Party, we would have gotten the album much sooner. As soon as they released it as a pre-release, that was all it was going to be. And changing concepts before the album release is something they've done before as well.

@@bandotaku I'm sorry but I have to disagree some of the lightwork -when handled by or at least overseen by Shindong I'm assuming- was mesmerizing, and some of it was a miss. It's very different to have the time to set up the stage for a concert compared to the time they are allowed for music show stages. It's not only them who play with the lights but they have to be constantly dimmed by the production team as well so I still see the song as too risky. Saying that, yes it could have been done perhaps if they all had more time and yes there must have been other reasons to change the title besides the difficulty of the stage set up. Looking back, House Party stages were very fun to watch and did actually help me feel better during quarantine, which was what they had in mind. But the timing of Burn the Floor as a pre release was very off, because I distinctly remember the song making headlines after the family concert and a lot of people asked for it but it wasn't preleased digitally and didn't really get performed publicly (not on a show dedicated to them I mean) until album promotions and by then the interest was already lost. The scheduling had a lot of mistakes for an album that was supposedly in works for a long time.

@@LadyaLL96 You do know that the music show performances are prerecorded, right? If there was an issue, they would have handled it. In fact, they did perform it on music bank. The reason it wasn't performed on any show (I assume you mean variety) was because it wasn't released until after they had done the shooting for those shows. The scheduling was so messed up that during the shows, you could tell they were unsure on what they could talk about because they didn't know what would be released by the time the show aired, other than "The Melody" because that was their 15th anniversary song. By the time BTF was released, they were almost done with TV promotions. It was performed at the TMAs first, and then the performance video came out a few days later. The timing _was_ off, there is no doubt about that.

I am impressed at how Jason got the purpose of the song after the first listening. I mean, his whole analysis was on point. SuJu actually changed the title track (Burn the floor) in order to give House party to E.L.F. because there was a delaying in the comeback and we had no concerts. House party made a lot of fans realize they could have fun while waiting for the right time to come. And no, you don't see a lot of artists doing that. PS: Super Junior is under SJ LABEL, which is still under SM but is managed by Super Junior members. They have a lot more freedom to do the music they want. I don't think SM would have allowed them to change the title track last minute LMAO. I am happy SJ Label exists.

no SJ LABEL is managed by one of their first managers now promoted as one of the executive directors of SM and also manages SJ label. the members can't manage themselves. it's just a joke among themselves that Siwon manages the group

Jason's analysis was the best, he really understood what SJ was going for with the song, and why the chose it as their main track. To me, this song came at the perfect time, to help a lot of people (including me) with these hard times, and that's why it's one of my favorite songs of them (and I'm an ELF so it's a hard decision)

I agree to the theory about relating the transition to if you go outside it would he dangerous and scary that's why when you run to the house it's more safer and fun then the sudden transition comes and back to funky sound then the party starts. That's really amazing they're able to deliver the message really well [sorry i don't know what I'm saying and my english is bad hahah]

I hope you react to Super Junior's *"Burn The Floor"* and *"Raining Spell For Love"* (from the same album) *"Burn The Floor"* was going to be the title track that's why they named the album "The Renaissance" but then the company thought that House Party was catchier so it became the title track but they released a performance video of "Burn The Floor" , check it out !!

Been an ELF for 7+ years now, I am just so proud of these boys. They are just doing them. The song is about COVID yet I wanna listen to it everyday 'cause it slaps! I love how their songs and mvs never match the rest of kpop trends of the time when they make a comeback. They're weird, silly which makes them sooo fun but actually also very original and intimate.

Omg yes! Thank you so much for reacting to this song! This and literally the entire album has been on my Playlist since the release and I fricking love it! I totally didn't expect that change up in House Party but I'm so happy it did and I'm so happy Heechul was in this and actually had some lines, instead of a few seconds of screen time. When he mentioned that part being what happens when you go outside then you run in and slam the door and back to the party, that is EXACTLY what it's like. I also interpreted it as you're having a great house party and staying in during the pandemic then when you think it's gonna be over soon you see something on the news about people going out and the virus on the rise again and the pin drops and it's like OMG and all the frustration at those people extending the pandemic comes out suddenly then after the outburst you go back to your house party when cases start lowering again. I also like imagining SUJU running after people angrily rapping at them to keep their mask on and go back to their house until those people run into their house to escape SUJU

while this sounds like uptown funk, suju's scene stealer sounds like bruno mars' 24k magic and suju's too many beautiful girls sounds like one direction's what makes you beautiful. weirdly, i am also reminded of dnce's cake by the ocean in suju's devil. i haven't been listening to suju's discog nowadays so i might have missed some. anw this reaction made me appreciate the song more. 😍

I just now realized, because I honestly didn't watch the MV yet and also the lyrics until now, that this song wasn't about the usual "House Party" term we use. It talks about COVID-19 and stuff which I really do appreciate especially when they talk about the mask thing.

8:05: Super Junior is under SM Entertainment, but in 2015, SM Entertainment formed Label SJ for them, which is a subsidiary. So yes, they're still under that company, but Label SJ is seen as independent from SM, so Super Junior are not really under SM's influence as much anymore, and their independent label takes care of their activities, albums, and everything else to ensure more freedom for what they can do as a group now. That's why when you see Wikipedia, they don't list Super Junior as a group under SM Entertainment anymore, and list the group under the Label SJ subsidiary, showing that Super Junior is more independent from SM. And obviously, the Label SJ logo on the top right of the MV shows that too.

I think that the transition from the first to the second genre fits the situation that we have during this pandemic. We think that the situation was actually okay and would not even reach our country but it escalated into something worse and that we needed to heed caution or else it would be the end of us. It was quite shocking, but it gets better if you understood the storyline more. And heey it's Super Junior, expect a lot of surprises from their songs. When I first listened to house party I was shocked too in that part. Watching the video again I understood that the “happy part” is to bring us positivity through this hard days and this “darker” part of the song is like “wake up! This is serious! Your actions can have consequences to others” and then we come back to the positivity vibe so we can finish the song in a happy mood. Personally, I think super junior made a reaaally good job. Now everybody say “thank you, Super Junior” lol Please react to EXO’s don’t fight the feeling. I love y’all reacts :)

Not sure if ReacttotheK will see this, but I think it's important to note that there actually IS rhythmic modulation to a certain extent, and it's explained by olympicmew on Reddit: "So as you might have noticed, the song decides to do a trap switch-up out of nowhere, changing BPM and all. What you might not have noticed is that the BPM change in question is almost exactly a 4:3 rhythmic modulation, meaning that a 16th note in the old BPM (115) becomes an 8th note triplet in the new BPM (150). You can notice it by the fact that the repeated 'god' line that is used for the transition initially sounds like it repeats at dotted quarter note intervals in the old BPM, only to reveal itself as a half note of the new BPM when it starts repeating twice as fast shortly after. [...] [...] As I said, the rhythmic modulation is not exact. 4/3 of 115 isn't 150 after all. The closest whole number BPMs that would have yielded an exact 4:3 rhythmic modulation are 114 and 152. The rhythmic modulation that actually happens is a 30:23 one-close enough to give the same feeling but a bit of a bummer to the music nerd in me. Or maybe not, because the trap section of the song is exactly 30 bars long: if you set a metronome at 115 BPM, sync it with the old BPM of the song, and let it continue ticking even after the BPM change, after the BPM returns to 115 you will notice the metronome is still in sync, because that whole 150 BPM section lasted exactly 23 bars of the old BPM." I'm not music theory nerd myself but I thought that tidbit was really cool to note, and olympicmew even attached an audio demonstration showcasing just how the underlying pulse never really changes, it's only where the accents fall that does change: vocaroo.com/1og6oo95Gp2t Do give this Reddit comment a thumbs up/award for the cool find! Hope Umu sees this and is able to change some minds regarding their thoughts on the metric modulation of this song. Whether or not it's done well is obviously still subjective, but I think it's still worth remarking that the rhythmic/metric modulation isn't non-existent like Kevin thought.
