I'm 65 now and growing up my parent's never spoke about how to become a man. I had to figure it out on my own. I have 2 kids my oldest is a boy and then my daughter, So when they were growing up I told them what to do to be happy with yourself and just be you and just the simple things in life can make you happy! I must say they have grown up to be great adults and that makes me proud! Thanks for your reaction. Love and Peace you two! 😄

I had a great Dad who was a simple man.He didn't start family till rather late in life first child at 32 I was born when he was 41.He was born 1922.very poor one of 9 kids grew up in a log cabin in Kentucky.Lived through the Depression. Drafted into the Army in 1943 served in the 2nd Armoured Infantry under Gen Patton. He only went to 2nd grade.Cut timber and worked in a sawmill till he became disabled with heart problem at 50. His life story could be a movie. He would be 102 in March of next year miss him immensely. He died at the age of 66.He was a simple man and I'm proud to say I am too.I'm a rich man without money.I had love and understanding from a good and simple man.

Forby Leonard Skinner (January 11, 1933 - September 20, 2010) was an American high school gym teacher, basketball coach, and businessman from Jacksonville, Florida. He is known in popular culture as the eponym of the rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd; Skinner was the band members' teacher.

My dad was awesome, and he gave me this kind of advice!! I was most certainly blessed with wonderful parents that tried to prepare me for the journey I was starting. They gave me the tools I needed and any failures along the way were on me for simply not heeding their advice. That's another point, they didn't tell me how to live, but instead advised me on to live. I thank them dearly for their advice.

Lynyrd Skynard (just like Jimmy Buffet which you've been listening to) is gospel 🙌 for us Southerners. I live 45 min from LS hometown, my town is where Tom Petty is from & man are we proud. Yes, they are great story tellers. EVERYONE knows "Sweet Home Alabama's" chorus just like we all know the chorus to "Dont Stop Believin". People now make a big controversy out of the lyrics without knowing the back story. Great song. "The Ballad of Curtis Loew" "Shinedown" "That Smell" "Gimme Three Steps"

Its the bands name, Ronnie Van Zant was the lead vocalist. When you get a chance you should check out Sweet Home Alabama from the live show in Oakland in 1977. Its pretty good. And yes their music lives on because of you and others who are just discovering this band and once you discover them you'll never forget them. Thanks for the reaction.

They made so much great music in such a short time! They are one of the few bands/artists that I can listen to every song on every album without wanting to skip a song. They had a huge variety of genres or styles of music, but I loved them all!

Yes, you are correct: singer Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines, and Steve's sister Cassie, also one of the back up singers) were all killed. Cassie watched her brother burn to death before she bled to death. They were pinned in the plane wreckage. Drummer Artimus Pyle, a former US Marine, crawled out. And with a rib sticking out of his chest, walked through the swamp and woods until he found a house and help was alerted. It was a horrific event.

When listening to a Skynyrd song you have to be aware of who wrote the lyrics. They did play some music written by others but if Ronnie VanZant was one of the writers you can be sure that there will be meaning and feelings in the lyrics. Ronnie was the leader of the band and a little older than most of the original members. In an interview, I think it was Gary Rossington that said when they got old enough to drive it was Ronnie that taught them. He became somewhat of a stand in father figure during the early years of the band. Remember it started when they were still in high school. I think possibly the greatest garage band to ever exist. ( Garage band = a group of musicians that start out practicing together in someones garage, or in the case of Skynyrd from northern Florida, a car port. Allen Collins mother's car port).

🔱🎤💀💭•••M. KANE 💪👕 👖 •••🙊👉ONE OTHER THING ABOUT THE BAND, PEOPLE DON'T REALIZE HOW TIGHT THEY WERE. BY THAT I MEAN, THEY WERE SO PROFESSIONAL. RONNIE WAS LIKE A CONDUCTOR. WHEN YOU WATCH THEM LIVE YOU CAN SEE HE COULD COMMUNICATE BY LOOKING AT THEM AND WITH HAND SIGNALS.

Technically . . . Lynyrd Skynyrd IS the name of a person, it's just been respelled for marketing/copyright reasons. He was a band member's gym teacher. We used to call "phys ed" teachers gym teachers, back in the day. . . . .

schools? at least american schools, do not teach anything any more. i was blessed with my kindergarten years in philipino schooling. dad was a USAF pilot and served in vietnam. my mother and i lived in the philipenes, and dad would visit us between sorties, combat excursions, etc... he always insisted i partake of the education provided in the country we were, never "base" schooling. rather cultural schooling. i did first grade and part of 2nd in alaska, still public schools. finished 2nd grade and started 3rd in tennessee. finished 3rd, 4th, 5th, and some 6th grade, in england. british schools. learned to use me fork to slide peas onto my knife and eat them. learned how to write with a "fountain pen". google it if your unsure what that is. learned alllllll british history from perhaps the 900's all the way up to when us "yanks" stole the USA from britain and even took away their victory against adolph hitler? apparently, "they" would have won that war but we beat them to it. when we came back to the usa, i promptly failed 6th grade. too much british history, not a lick of american history. redid 6th grade and never looked back. graduated american high school, still all public, at the age of 18 1/2. us army basic training began the next week. i love and deeply miss my dad, for it was he that made me discover, we are all different but yet the same. RIP and HONOR Thomas Lawrence Minnis!!!!!! sorry if i rambled, thank YOU if you read it all the way through.
