Thanks for editing the Iron Born videos. I missed that stream, but listened and watched during surgical recovery and I was garthed to the gourds. I have never read Lovecraft, but am familiar with it and love listen to Tim’s deep dives and your commentary on the comparisons. George is so damn consistent and careful with his references; and you both had me enthralled and laughing.

Perhaps if Aegon and Sunfyre are giving us the fallen sun symbolism, maybe Rhaenyra is showing us dead mother Goddess Nyssa in the Weirwood Net. Stone acts as a parallel symbol for death/unconscious/ green sea. Rhaenyra is mourning the loss of her children like Nyssa mourning the sacrificed children of the forest during AA ritual. Dany in the Dothraki Sea with her stone dragon eggs is a parallel idea to Rhaenyra in her sea of grief on dragonstone. Something along those lines imo.

Regarding the "raiders" comments: I interpreted that to mean that they were actually largely smallfolk, as it was described previously that many smallfolk took up arms for Rhaenyra in the riverlands. Similar as historically, especially in medieval times, partisans and guerilla forces were often called "brigands" or "raiders". It also suggests that the Blacks actually have popular support, which is highly interesting to me.

The veil of shadow, one hour of the sun thing could work as a parallel for Bloodraven and his time in the trees vs his time being present in reality. The last ray of light or the last ember in the fire holding back the dark/winter. This could also be what the sacrifice to the Weirwoods could be about, fuel for the "fire" to keep the winter (others) at bay.

With regards to the Greens giving the stepstones to the triarchy: It was imo strategically their best move, as at that specific time, surviving on the mainland and defeating the blacks was far more important than keeping the stepstones, which they didn't control at that time anyway. And they would be likely relatively easy to take back, relative to all of Westeros. It was a strategic sacrifice with obvious strong strategic benefits in exchange, not some kind of shortsighted blunder.

The Cannibal being older than Balerion could fix the plot hole of how fast Dany's dragons grow. Dragons are created with blood magic. Maybe the different Valyrian dragon families were able to affect how fast their dragons grew. The Targaryen dragons grew faster than average because that way they were able to replace dead dragons faster, but other families had dragons that grew more slowly, allowing them to live for centuries longer. Daenerys had no idea what she was doing, and ended up with dragons that grew insanely fast.

I have been meaning to ask you if you think Balerion may have died earlier than normal DUE TO his trip to Valyria with Aerea. I have always assumed that's what contributed so much to him slowing down and dying of old age so early. He died younger than Vhagar and she was fighting in dragon civil war right up to her final nanny years! I definitely believe that's partially why Balerion died arguably a little "young" (for a dragon anyways). So, thank you for suggesting that!! Loving all your content, as always. Much love!

I wanted to re-visit the possible parentage of Alys Rivers so I went back in F&B for clues. It says that Alys is around 40 years old during the dance which would put her birth 80-90 AC, although mushroom claims she’s older. Getting rid of the idea of her being hundreds of years old like some theories, i put her at about 60 which would put her birth at around 70 AC. In 73 AC, Rhaena Targaryen dies and Harrenhall is given to Bywin Strong, the brother of the disgraced kingsguard Lucamore the lusty. Later in that same year, Lucamore’s actions are discovered and he is sent to the wall. His first wife and their children are given to the care of his brother Bywin and it can be assumed they all went back to Harrenhall. Thus, it is my theory that Alys rivers is the bastard daughter of Lucamore the Lusty and was raised at Harrenhall with her other siblings. Obviously, there isn’t much clear evidence to back this up other than just guessing. I do believe this is a likely scenario though. This could already be a theory I just haven’t read it anywhere yet.

P.S. Choosing to go to the block sworn to Rhaenyra is a way to signal to their heirs, spouses, and/or regents which way they want them to jump in the scenario that their communication’s been cut-off (though this would require them to be pretty confident in their knowledge of their survivors’ personality). Though I think that wouldn’t need much help in most cases, given this move cements a lotttt of grudges, as GWT points out. P.P.S. re: Aegon attacking Dragonstone, for all that Rhaenyra’s inexperienced in battle, she’s been flying since before her half-brothers were born & she’d be defending her children on her home turf. If I’m the Green’s small council, I’m not loving the odds that she’d take Aegon down with her or cripple Vhagar through sheer desperation even if she's not at her strongest, esp. given what happens with Sunfyre & Moondancer a few years down the line. Syrax’d be defending her accustomed territory before the occupation of Kings' Landing (aka her supposed over-feeding/poss. moving distress).

I’ve just started reading F&B, so not sure if it goes into this or not, but on the show, when Rhaenyra and Criston are on the way back to camp after spending the night in the King’s Wood, the White Hart presents itself to Rhaenyra in front of him. Kind of interesting how Aegon’s nameday celebration ends with him getting a run of the mill stag that Viserys struggles to kill, while his sister refuses to allow Ser Criston to kill the regal stag they encounter. In fact, she never even mentions it, that we know of. I would have loved to see the looks on everyone’s faces if they rode up dragging the White Hart behind them, instead of a boar.😂 Then everyone could have seen with their own eyes her ‘symbol of legitimacy’.

I have a question. How did rhae took syrax to sky at 7 yes old, when baela is in her teens and it is said her dragon moondancer is too small to carry her weight. In that logic syrax should have been too small to carry rhae at 7 yes old, because syrax was born after rhae. Or is that syrax was bigger in size when even it was a hatchling? Any thoughts?

Thank you guys for being quick on the ban button when it comes to bigoted comments like that, and not even humoring them by reading it out fully. There are asoiaf fans who are bipoc people, and it's a fantasy story- there's really no reason we can't have them looking like this. Corlys looks based as hell. I just want to thank you guys because anyone with a platform and a community can really set the tone, and not allowing that sort of talk in your space makes it more welcoming for bipoc fans who would be put off by those bigots. On the subject of the Velayron bastards, why couldn't Mouse have Targaryen blood? We don't know anything about her. Maybe she's a bastard herself or a descendant of a bastard, and thus has dragon blood in her. Could explain why her son can ride a dragon. Also, from what we see in the show, the Velaryons were always black, so the chance of intermarriage between them and the Targaryens before Rhaenyra and Laenor is slim to none otherwise, the main line would be mixed race. That or they still haven't clarified who Corlys' ancestors are.
