back to the exchange year content! I wrote this letter to myself when I was living abroad in Germany in october. It's kind of crazy to read and reminisce on everything that was going on in my life at that point in time and how much I've grown since then. I hope you guys enjoyed this little video, and I love and appreciate you more than you know! thank you so much for watching!

I commend your courage for going into the unknown, which was a foreign country with a strange language for you. And I think you did well - you learned the language to a respectable degree, managed to make friends and have exciting experiences along the way. As for future videos: Yes, please DO share some of the things from your journal that are about learning German, that would be great fun for everyone who speaks both languages :-) Stay safe and enjoy your summer break!

I can understand some of the struggles you had during your exchange. I lived in Italy for 2 years. By the end of my stay there I started having mental health issues. I found that living abroad was a wonderful experience. I returned to the US and sought help for my mental health.

mental health is definitely a topic that is not talked about enough as it relates to exchange programs!

@@carolineruby Your definitely right. Thanks to our government (and the one before) there was literally a storm to psycologists/psychotherapists/psychiatrists enforced by mass mediia.

German is in my opinion definitely one of the hardest languages to learn, so i can fully understand your strugle with the german language. I mean some grammar rules are even confusing for me as a german 😅!

Hi Caro, well done. Well, there were a lot of circumstances which didnt make your exchange time so good as may be expected. Thats the past, learn about and use such knowledge for your future. I feel sad that all in all wasnt a good time in Germany cos I know others who truly love and loved it being here. do you still learn/study the german language ? As far as I remember couple words you once mentioned your pronounciation was very very good. May be you have somehow the "music" of our language inside. Any ancestors from Germany in your family ? You never know cos a high percentage of americans do have them. Wish you all the best as senior(yes, you are already old :-D ) highschool student. Btw, I couldnt understand the name of the gym you assumed it could be a chain. Please let me know and I will do a quick research. Have a nice week and enjoy with family and friends. CU

absolutely, I still love Germany and it’s culture despite my hardships. I am still trying to retain my knowledge of the language by practicing whenever I get the chance! I may have some German relatives, I’m not sure though. also the same of the gym is Bella Vitalis, let me know if you have one near you!

You are cute lovely lady, try to enjoy your life, enjoy every day and use every experience you can have. Keep to be that open minded person that you are, it will help you a lot in the future. The easiest way is not always the best, getting out of the comfort zone even with the possibility to struggle on one point it will help you to understand yourself a lot more. I have so much respect for what you have done. 👏👍
