Was in high school when the first Fast and Furious movie came out. School went from Mustangs and pickups to lowered Civics of all sorts. This EF would had been a holy grail back then.

You are absolutely right! I was 18 when it came out and I had a jacked up, 302W supercharged swapped 1994 Eddie Bauer Explorer with 33x12.50s on it and a full stereo system with subs. I moved to Pennsylvania and immediately traded it for a 1992 Acura Integra GS. I also got a full leather interior swap with it along with four Kicker Solobaric 10s, a Soundstream Reference 1000w amp, and a set of ugly 17" chrome rims. I put an AEM cold air intake on it, a Neuspeed short shifter, and a full exhaust. It had 134k miles on it with cold AC, and it ran mint. About a year after I bought it I pieced together a junkyard turbo kit for it and it went on to make 257 whp @ 10 psi on an old Dodge Daytona T3 turbo. It was black with cream leather interior and silver RPF-1 rims.

Physically smiled seeing the RPF1's uncovered! I was expecting the new PF06 but was happy to see the RPF1 still getting some love. Perfect choice! And great engagement hack to put the valve cover ground in the wrong spot.😂 I came to the comments to see everyone all fired up and wasn't disappointed. Might need to double check where mine is attached now. Haha Really loving this car!

The valve cover ground is in the wrong location, it has to be on the VC stud next to it. That small bolt hole is for JDM throttle cable brackets.

The point of that ground is to give alternator ground direct to the headlights and fans through the valve cover stud. The valve cover itself is completely isolated from the rest of the engine, in most cases.

Watching this series brings me back to the early 2000s, when I built my 89 EF hatch over the course of 3-4 years. It's final iteration was similar to this, but a little more hardcore, with a 2.0L GSR motor, jdm siR trans, roll bar, integra front brakes, racing seat, coilovers, etc. Was truly a track monster that was dsuper fun. And yeah, swapping those shifter bushings is a huge improvement. I'd also recommend installing a front traction bar, or at least replacing the old front radius bushings with spherical bearings. It makes a big difference with the front end stability and steering feel.

man this takes me back!! I have had 3 EFs and really miss them both! First was a 91 Hatchback Base car with lowering springs and nothing else. it even had a 4sp trans and while it handled incredible man was it slow... until I installed a DOHC ZC and then things got interesting! But I wrecked it pretty soon after that... then got an 88 EF 4 door for $400 from a charity auction and swapped that ZC into it. Interior was stripped so man was that thing a blast! Made a weird mod by adding some ITR Rear TEIN Coilovers and left the front stock. Oddly enough the car was a blast and I put about 15k miles on that before selling it for a 90 Si with a B18C in it!! That was pretty close to what this build is and I would really love to build another! Keep up the good work and can't wait to see the numbers from the dyno! These things weigh nothing!!

I bought a civic EF Si with sunroof in 2017 with a B18c swap (1998 type R head and 1994 JDM Gsr bloc #101 serial number) and hydraulic transmission swap S80 4.4 FD. That thing was a rocket. I put a innovative front traction bar, 4 pistons Wilwood calipers in the front, full 2.5in exhaust from Yonaka, ultra racing strut bars front and rear upper and lower. Skunk2 short shifter, Momo competition steering wheel, I had 195/50r15 Dunlop Direzza tires matched up with I believe were replicas of Spoon sports SW388. Car was black with tinted windows. I had Eibach lowering springs on KYB AGX (4 ways adjustable dampening) ... I sold it on 2021 when I had my second child... and bought a 2004 Neon SRT4. Man... I am missing that gem so much

It would have been better to use the +41 RPF1s and a spacer for fitting the front wheels over the brakes. This spacer combo would give a wider front track for better turn in like the current +35 but would have prevented the rolling of the quarter panels in the rear. The narrower track width in the rear using the +41 would also help rotation.

The valve-cover is electrically isolated by gaskets. The head's ground should be under an acorn-nut on a valve-cover stud. This is the main ground path for your ignition system. Otherwise your ignition has a high-resistance path through the head studs into the block, across the transmission and into the transmission ground strap.

Please move that ground wire over to the valve cover stud, the OEM location. Where you put it isn’t actually grounding the head because the VC is isolated by the gasket. You can have alternator and other electrical issues around the front end of the car if it’s not attached to the VC stud in the head.

oil pan leaks: the 90s is when JDM manufacturers moved away from cork gaskets (which were amazing) and into rubber, or just straight up sealant. so a B-series with a leaky oil pan gasket is literally a gen 1 type issue. but we can't really call it that, because the move away from cork was for a very good sustainable reason, it just resulted in a lot more oil being introduced into the ecosystem while these teething pains happened. lol. for as good as cork was as a gasket, you dreaded dropping the pan, half the gasket would stick to the engine, the other half would stick to the oil pan. lots of scraping later and you could put a new gasket on and put it all back together.
