In this tutorial we’ll perform a full setup from Cold & Dark in a pre-release version of the ZIBO MOD (BETA Version 3.29)
Simulating a flight from Corfu (CFU/LGKR) to London Heathrow (LHR/EGLL) we’ll go through the entire setup based on real world procedures used every single day at a European Airline.
This is more an insight and the procedures have been tailored slightly to suit single pilot operations in a desktop simulator.
The setup covers in the detail the order in which things are completed and includes all applicable charts, briefings and performance calculations, matching exactly what I would to if I was setting up this flight in real life.
Enjoy!

Great video! Whether you are an expiring pilot or just a simmer that wants complete immersion I think these videos do an incredible job of showing real world procedures. This is good stuff that you cant get out of a manual. Yeah you can read the norm procedures for a 737 and just do them, but to here why exactly you do them from a real pilot is priceless knowledge. Thank you for doing these videos and keep them coming!!!

@@flightdeck2sim I did a dry run at Miami Intl., following a flight I did the other night on Zibo to Jamaica, I followed your tutorial exactly and got the cold and dark startup done! I had some minor trouble transitioning to APU Power, bus, etc., but I managed to fix that. Did my pushback, so that's accomplished. Otherwise I was chuffed. P.S. Nevermind, I managed to figure out XCamera and set up my basic camera views for the Zibo. That should solve those problems. The plane's impossible to fly properly without them set, since it requires frequent switching to the overhead, pilot view, pedestal, FMC, etc.

Brilliant as always! One tip I world like to share for those who don't already know about it is when putting in a long route in the FMC. To save yourself a bit of time you can stick to putting in just the airways and the waypoints connecting the airways will populate automatically as long as the routing is correct. So let's say you have a route like this -> A A1 B B1 C C1 D. In this case you could put in A followed by A1, B1 and C1 where B and C would be automatically inserted for you. If not using saved routes and when doing longer flights it's quite convenient!

Hi Lee! Let me dispel a myth! I started flying the 737 with 280 hours total time. I had a lot to learn and I still to this day as an instructor teaching people how to fly the 737 have lots to learn! Yes with more hours does come more experience but regardless of experience, you have to still pass the same check every 6 months. Sometimes the old boys can struggle with certain elements of the operation where as a fresh cadet straight out of the type rating would be more proficient with dealing a situation they recently practiced in the sim. With more experience you develop better decision making and exposure to different situations but ability can vary considerably FD2S

Good tutorial for sim pilots to learn real life procedures. Next time you are talking to Zibo, ask him to fix the GRD POWER AVAILABLE light so that it is not on when you set the park brake after engine start or when you set the park brake on the runway for instance !! Also the PM/auto call-outs need to be customisable. For example, in my airline, we do not get PM/auto call-outs at 400 feet and 1000 feet on takeoff. (PS I have over 14000 hours on the real 737 - currently flying the 737-800).

Your explanations are spot on and any feedback would only be procedural differences which we know are operator-dependent so not really worth discussing. Keep it up. Who knows, your videos may inspire someone to become a 737 driver. Question: Do you have a textures mod for your overhead panels and centre pedestal panels (they seem darker than normal) or is that the stock standard Zibo installation? I haven't updated Zibo in a while.

A great tutorial, very concise and articulated. Thanks for the effort. What software are you using to record. I'm experimenting with OBS Studio.

Thank you for this tutorial. Some parts are a bit too fast for nubes like me. I couldn't get the course setting coordinates part, from where they came...:-D

Great tutorial. Can you do a segment on how to properly load the aircraft with cargo and fuel? I'm using simbrief and the zibo panel (?) on the left side of the flight deck.

Not sure if you've covered it but would be cool to see what procedures are for cockpit callouts on approach. Like "sink rate" or "terrain" and how often they happen in real life :)

Hi Jake, Dependent on the callout! For eg “SINK RATE” would require a simple correction to the rate of descent. An Aural Warning such as “TERRAIN TERRAIN PULL UP” requires a mandatory terrain escape manoeuvre! Something I might cover in the future! FD2S

Great video, really helped, where do you get your airport charts from? I can't find the ones you have on the internet and it would really benefit me to have something like that, thanks.
